Stop us if you've heard this one before - a JRPG heroine has amnesia. We know, we know. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Octopath Traveler 2 hardly breaks new ground with the concept behind its apothecary, Castti Florenz. What matters most is how such tales are delivered, and thankfully, Castti's is surprisingly good.
Part of what makes Castti's story work so well is that despite her memory loss, she remains a steadfast and unflinching practitioner of the healing arts. The woman's a gem of a doctor, and she shows this off as early as her very first chapter. Speaking of which, here's our guide for Castti Chapter One.
'Town' Phase: Cargo Ship
Obviously, we use the term 'town' extremely liberally here, but we're trying to keep our Octopath Traveler 2 guides nice and neat, so the cargo ship is now a town. So it goes. After the rather harrowing intro flashback sequence and subsequent castaway discovery, it's time to take control of our strange new life as amnesiac Castti. You'll quickly be introduced to Castti's daytime Path Action, 'Inquire', which is essentially a biography scan🐓ner that works so long as Castti is a certain level or higher (the level varies per NPC).
Most of Octopath Traveler 2's NPCs with deeper, darker secrets - or more commonly, clues to the whereabouts of excellent rewards - will require Castti to be a rather high level, indeed. But since this is the beginning of her story, and you have no choice but to use Inquire on folks in order to proceed, there are of course no minimums to speak of here. Simply Inquire on everyone, watch the scene, and then head down to retrieve the satchel. Afterward, we make landfall.
Many of Octopath Traveler 2's most emotionally profound moments stem from using Inquire (or Path Actions of a similar nature) to access these character blurbs. Always be on the lookout for NPCs you've not yet 'scanned', and be prepared for the occasional jaw-droppingly tumultuous reveal.
Town Phase: Canalbrine
Welcome to Canalbrine! We dig this place. Needing to canoe from one side to the other is a neat design trick. How positively Venetian. Anyway, keep using Inquire on folks to get more of a handle on how it functions. Whenever you see something like 'A Hidden Item' under the information gained screen, your mini-map will alert you with an exclamation mark '!' as to the whereabouts of this new item, which would not have been accessible had you not scanned that specific NPC.
When you're ready to continue with the story, head northwest to trigger a scene. After you've regained control of Castti, you'll learn about her nighttime Path Action, Soothe. This Path Action requires that players have certain types of medicine in their inventories; so long as they do, they can use it on NPCs to render them unconscious. This is handy when someone's blocking the way through a door or similar conundrum, as there's usually something worthwhile behind them. That said, we tend to prefer other Path Actions that result in the same outcome since Soothe's requisite medicines aren't always easy to come by.
For the purposes of plot, however, use Soothe to ease this person's suffering. You'll soon become acquainted with a woman named Malaya, who seems like the only person in Canalbrine willing to help Castti in her burgeoning endeavor to, well, help Canalbrine. Folks are falling sick, and whether she's wanted or otherwise, Castti's determined to serve.
Eventually, and with Malaya's aid, Castti will deduce that the town water supply is to blame for the illnesses. We're venturing off to save the day, and it looks like we'll be doing so alone.
Dungeon Phase: Water Source
Once you're on the next screen outside town, keep south along the path. You'll start bumping into random encounters now. Castti's defensive capabilities are decent thanks to her apothecary knowledge, but her offensive output isn't too great at first, so you'll mainly be relying upon the Axe weapon - not so incidentally, many of the foes here are weak to Axe. Try to level up a bit outside Canalbrine until you have enough JP to unlock Icicle, which will add Ice to Castti's damage types.
Enter the tunnel at the end of the path. This cave is Canalbrine's Water Source. As a first-chapter dungeon - and honestly, even late-game dungeons are mostly linear - Water Source is especially straightforward, with a couple of dips along the causeway to discover treasure chests. If you miss any, fret not; they'll never go anywhere, so you can retrace your steps at any point later on.
Boss Phase: Doron And Veron
At the far end of the Water Source cave, Castti discovers the problem - a pair of weird reptilian creatures who say 'kreeee' a lot. Ah, we should have known. Doron and Veron are far more dangerous combined than they'll ever be alone, so your goal should be to eliminate one or the other as quickly as you can whilst keeping Castti's health up. They love to inflict the Poison debuff, but we can use a Cleansing Leaf to take care of that whenever needed. We recommend doing so every time, since the damage you'll suffer stacks rather swiftly.
Doron is weak to Ice and Dark and has two Shield Points, meaning you need to hit him twice with weaknesses before he's left wide open for massive damage for a turn. Veron, on the other hand, is weak to Axe, Wind, and Dark, but has four Shield Points rather than two. As such, get rid of Doron first to even the playing field; you can do so as 💟long🐷 as you have the Icicle skill.
Doron will eat Veron (yikes) if Veron's low on health, but he may do the same if he's low on health instead. Your mileage may vary. If that happens, know that his stats will increase, but he's more or less the same as he was before. If this fight's giving you too much grief, consider leveling one or two more times before reattempting; it can feel tense when you're outnumbered, but it shouldn't be difficult to outmaneuver these foes.
Town Phase: Canalbrine
The return to Canalbrine is mostly a set of scenes serving as the conclusion of chapter one and Castti's increased bewilderment upon learning a few key things about herself. Mysteries are deepening; just what is the deal with Malaya, anyway? We'll find out soon enough.
