What does Dolcinaea have planned? Are there other foes lurking the dark? Perhaps most importantly of all, will the heartfelt and super-sweet tone of Agnea's tale remain blissfully intact despite the odds?
Yes. Yes, it will. But that doesn't mean the road to victory won't be fraught with hardships we aim to help you blast past so the whole world can enjoy the fancy footwork and easy smiles that Agnea can bring to one and all.
Town Phase: Merry Hills
Agnea's final town would be called Merry Hills, wouldn't it? As a 'level 45 settlement', there are plenty of high-tier items to pilfer and entreat for, so if you've not been here before, take some time to scope out the city with path actions both during the daytime and at night.
With that little preamble out of the way, let's get started. Agnea sets out her mission statement in the first cutscene. Let's guide her to glory. It looks like someone's out for vengeance, though - we're tossed into a battle immediately. These goons are nothing worth worrying over, especially with a full party; just whack them a few times and they'll go down.
The Hired Men's weaknesses include Daggers, Bows, Wind, and Darkness.
The 'useless nitwits', as their master calls them, are down but not out. We'll be avoiding them for several scenes now going forward - each in increasingly comedic fashion, mind you. Head north a ways and we'll start bumping into folks from prior chapters, beginning with Giselle's troupe, who will aid Agnea in another getaway.
Exit to the northern screen. Here's Gil and his gang! Let him do his thing, using 'Allure' when prompted, then 🦋keep noജrth toward the Grand Gala. (Behold Laila afterward, who really puts a stop to the goons.)
Enter the Shrine of Ul'sterra, which will involve random encounters.
Dungeon Phase: Shrine Of Ul'sterra
Despite the huge crowd of NPCs, there will be battles galore here as you make your way from one spot to the next. At the back end of the first room, grab the Resplendent Costume, which should prove to be a pretty great equip for somebody (not necessarily Agnea, though it's well-designed for the Dancer class).
On the northeast edge of the entrance to the Shrine of Ul'sterra is an Empowering Necklace. Most other treasures aren't much to write home about, and the path is as linear as ever. Just be sure to heal up between fights, since some of the enemies here can hit harder physically than one might expect from a bunch of chauffeurs.
At the top of the shrine, we'll encounter the ruthless La'mani, mastermind behind the diabolical plot to dethrone Agnea ahead of her own debut. Please try to contain your laughter to a reasonable pitch as you witness what happens next. This might be our pick for the funniest moment in the game.
Enough of that rabble, then. We've got a job to do - light the world with smiles. It's Agnea final boss time, and Dolcinaea promises a full-blown dance-off.
Boss Phase: Dolcinaea
Dolcinaea can not only remove a party member temporarily, but even compel one to fight you in her stead. As such, your heaviest hitters may prove nearly as dangerous to you. Thankfully, they don't appear capable of tapping into their ultimate attacks, or we'd be in real trouble.
What this does mean, however, is that if she scoops up your main damage dealer, you'll be less prepared to keep the pressure on Dolcinaea for a few turns at a time. That's fine, relatively speaking. What isn't fine is if she, say, snags Temenos (or🐭 someone else who is your primary healer), and unleashes her major multi-target attacks in the meantime.
As such, don't rely on one party member entirely for heals. Even if you don't have a well-trained secondary Cleric, you can always tap into things like Healing Grape Bunches in a pinch - plus, Castti as the Apothecary can do rather well as a backup healer with her special brews.
Dolcinaea will be fought not once, but twice. The narrative conceit seems to imply the first fight ends with her success, though make no mistake, you'll need to drop her HP to zero to reach stage two. Another cutscene plays afterward, and her sprite changes, as well as her weaknesses. In her first form, Dolcinaea's weaknesses are Daggers, Polearms, Bows, Lightning, Dark.
There's another reason Castti might prove invaluable here, and that's the sheer amount of debuffs that Dolcinaea is capable of inflicting in both phases (though seemingly especially during her second phase). These can add up something awful if your party isn't overleveled for the conflict, and they can still pile up peskily even then.
In her second form, Dolcinaea's weaknesses shift to Swords, Daggers, Axes, Light, and one last weakness we were unfortunately unable to ascertain before we lit the lass aflame. (That's a figure of speech - no, we don't think it was Fire.) Regardless, tapping into your strongest attacks, BP-boosted, should suffice to finish her off. Since Agnea's with you by default here, make good use of her latent power to give the Dance buffs to the entire party.
All's well that ends well as Agnea's whirlwind tour concludes. Sit back and enjoy the finale. You aren't done yet - even if you're finished with all the other character chapters, you'll still have the game's final chapter ahead of you. Unsurprisingly, Agnea's prior antics won't factor too heavily into the plot, but the crew will be glad to have her cheerful spirit as the eight travelers take on a doomsday scenario!
And by the way? You can hire La'mani from his theater at any point going forward. That's not imperative in any shape or form to the context of this guide. We just think it's hilarious.
