You will obtain this quest alongside 'The ', and the two quests can be completed in either order. How To Start 'The Necromancer's Amulet'

To begin 'The Necromancer's Amulet', you will need to have concluded 'A Plot Revealed', a more intensive quest which leads to the unlocking of both 'The Necromancer's Amulet' as well as 'The Bloodworm Helm'.

Additionally, however, several in-game days will need to pass before your quest-giver, Hannibal Traven, will offer you these two new quests.

As always, you can use the 'Wait' command to skip ahead a few days as needed in Oblivion Remastered.

Talk to Traven at the Arcane University, and he'll give you both directives. There is nothing gained, nor lost, in doing the two quests in any particular order, so just get to 'The Necromancer's Amulet' whenever you get to it - either before or after completing 'The Bloodworm Helm'.

Fort Ontus

For 'The Necromancer's Amulet', your destination is Fort Ontus. This dungeon is situated northeast of Kvatch and southwest of Chorrol, and if you'veඣ been to Fort Ontus at any point prior to now, you'll not have been able to actually🐷 enter the place. Finally, that has changed!

Head inside. If you're feeling as though the number of mages wandering around here is unsettling, then yes, sure enough, these mages will all eventually turn hostile. For now, however, you're directed straight to Caranya's location.

Following a bit of discourse, the inevitable happens: you must defeat Caranya. There are s𒁃ome ups and downs to your strategy here:

• Since you were just having a chat with her, you start out right next to Caranya. This is good if you're relying on melee attacks aplenty during the ensuing battle.
• Caranya is very lightly-armoured, with weak physical defenses that'll let you carve through her with blades, blunt weapons, and so forth.
• That said, Caranya's own proximity to you means her Frost spells are only going to need to travel a meter or two in order to strike you. If you're a Breton, or in possession of some other Magic Resistance innate, this isn't as big a problem; if not, shore up your Magic Defense if possible.
• Furthermore, Caranya can summon Fade Wraiths. All the more reason to keep pummeling her, preventing her from getting carried away in this regard.

The best thing you can do to eliminate Caranya's advantages is to cast Silence on her. We recommend having a means by which to do so whenever you're up against magic-oriented bosses in Oblivion Remastered, as it will shut their offenses down almost entirely for the duration of🍰 its effect.

The Way Out Is Through

Grab the Necromancer's Amulet off of Caranya's corpse. At this point, all the regular mages in Fort Ontus become hostile. They're necromancers - naturally - and should be dealt with as such. Again, is a great thing to have here, but none are particularly threatening, regard🧜less.

Either make a quick exit or kill them all and loot the dungeon, but once you're done here, return to Traven and hand him the Necromancer's Amulet. At this point, one of two things will happen.

1. If you have also given Traven the Bloodworm's Helm, you will unlock the 'Ambush' quest, as the Mages Guild questline will continue into its penultimate phase.
2. If you have not yet acquired the Bloodworm's Helm, simply carry out that request, at which point 'Ambush' will unlock accordingly.
