Oblivion Remastered Players Are Calling For The Return Of Power Attack Effects

Now, fans are calling for another feature that was in the original game, but didn't make the jump over to the remaster. On the Oblivion subreddit earlier this week, a user called TheJohnnyFlash called on Bethesda to reintroduce the side effects that were applied to enemies💜 during certain power attacks, a feature that was replaced in the remaster with a simple bleed and weakness debuff.

Who thought fencing tat was a fun gameplay loop?

I🐬f you're unfamiliar with them, power attacks in the original Oblivion used to have special effects depending on how far along in the Blade skill you were. Reaching Journeyman would give you a power attack that has a small chance to disarm your opponent, reaching Expert would give you an attack with a chance to knock an enemy down, and reaching Master would give you an attack that has the chance to paralyze an enemy.

In Oblivion Remastered, your power attacks now only apply weakness and bleed debuffs, and 🐻TheJohnnyFlash now thinks that these changes "hamper" anyone that wants to go for a combat-only build. If you want the chance to paralyze an enemy with a sword strike, you now have to dabble in alchemy, and if you're roleplaying as a big bruiser with a bigg🌃er sword, it breaks the immersion a little bit.

Another user called WinfredBlues agrees with the argument, claiming that power attacks with effects made you feel you were improving as a swordsman, while others are just simply annoyed at Bethesda removing something for no particular reason. TheJohnnyFlash has now called for power attack effects to be added in the next patch, but considering Oblivion Remastered currently doesn't run very well, Bethes♛da's priorities may lie els🦩ewhere right now.
