Nintendo was as prepared as it could be for the popularity of the Switch 2 as all signs point to th🌌e console having sold more than five million units during its first month. There still hasn't been enough supply to 🥂meet 𝔉demand, but now Amazon has entered the fray to help bear the load.

Nintendo's relationship with Amazon US has been on the rocks for over a year, and no one knows why. New first-party Switch games haven't been available through the site since pre-orders for last year's Paper Mari💖o: The Thousand-Year Door were uncerem♑oniously canceled. That rift also meant Amazon missed out on the launch 🌱of the Switch 2, but now that it and Nintendo are back on the same page, it's time to make up for that.

. Not through a third party seller, but directly through Amazon, which means𝓰 there's no risk of being overcharged. The bundle costs $499.99, the same as it has cost at all other major US retailers, and while you'll want to head to Amazon sooner rather than later if you want one, it's not a case of needinꦐg to rush before it sells out, as has been the case everywhere else.

That's because Amazon is using an invite-only system to sell its first batch of Switch 2 stock. In fact, it seems likely that will be the system in place at Amazon for a while when it comes to the Switch 2. Rather than an add to cart option, you'll find a request invite option. As long as you're signed in, hitting that button will prompt an email to be sent to 🔯your inbox to explain w🍃hat happens next.

The email reveals that customers will be chosen at random and sent an invite to buy a Switch 2. The link you're sent will be active for 22 hours, so no chance of missing your opportunity. Well, a slim chance of missing it, but if you don't check your emails for 22 hours when you're waiting to hear from Amazon about buying a Switch 2, I can only assume you 📖don't actually want one that much.

Amazon hasn't detailed when inﷺvites will be sent out, or how long the request invite option will be up. However, the email does note that if you're not successful during this round of invites, your name will remain in the hat for future rounds, presumably until its chosen. Sure, it's another loop through which you're being made to jump, but it's the same one being used by Nint♒endo to sell Switch 2 stock and hopefully, it's preventing the consoles from getting into the hands of resellers and scalpers.
