In this guide, we'll go over how to get the Parental Controls system set up on Nintendo Switch 2. We'll det♉ail your available options for it, and how to tweak them at any time.

Some of the details for the setup process have changed, but we should note that much has remained the same as with the original Nintendo Switch. If you don't have the newer hardware yet, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:check out this guide instead.

Setting Up Parental Controls Via Your Nintendo Switch 2

The various parental controls options within the Nintendo Switch 2.

There are two ways to set up Parental Controls for Nintendo Switch 2. The first is via the Switch 2 itself. The second is via the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app availabl♈e for smart devices. We'ꩵll go over the former first.

  1. First, head to System Settings while on the Nintendo Switch 2's home screen. It's the button with the gear icon on it, toward the far-right end of the sub-menus at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select Parental Controls. Once you've done so, choose Parental Controls settings.
  3. You'll be asked if you would like to set things up through the smartphone app. Press X to bypass this (which is referred to within the system as No Smart Device Available). Now, choose Restriction Level.

You'll ♕be warned that you can't set the following features witho⛎ut the app:

  • Setting a play-time limited for supervised accounts
  • Setting a bedtime for supervised accounts
  • Setting GameChat permissions for supervised accounts
  • Reviewing play-activity info for supervised accounts

Here's what you can do without the app, as you'll see as soon as you've chosen Restriction 💟Level:

  • Choose Restriction Level to Unrestricted, Teen, Preteen, Child, or Custom Settings. Preteen's restrictions are lighter than Child's, and Teen's are lighter than Preteen's. Custom Settings is what you want if you'd rather fine-tune the proceedings.
  • With Custom Settings, you're given options to tweak Restricted Software (specific games), Communicating with Others, VR Mode (3D Visuals), and Software Rating Organization. (The default for this last one will be your native region - for me, it's ESRB.)

Once you've gone through all of this, click Next. You'll be prompted to choose a PIN, which will subsequently be required whenever you seek to adjust Parental Controls settings. If, at any time, you wish to remove Parental Controls, you will need ☂to return𝐆 to the Parental Controls menu, and then enter this PIN.

Setting Up Parental Controls Via A Smart Device

The Nintendo Switch 2 Parental COntrols app six-digit request screen.

This requires searching for and installing the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app on your iOS or Android device, but some of the more important Parental Controls features are only accessible through here, so we suggest going ahead and using it instead.

Head to the Parental Controls menu on the Switch 2, within System Settings. Choose 'App has been installed', and enter the six-digit link code from the Parental Controls app when prompted. You'll ge✤t this by clicking on the code request button the app itself.

With the app, you can:

  • Set daily play limits. Your child will be unable to continue playing games on their Nintendo Switch 2 after their established maximum play time per day has been reached. This can be fine-tuned down to specific days within each week.
  • Establish GameChat parameters. You'll get a notification when your child has requested access to GameChat with another player. This lets you speak with your kid about the player's identity prior to confirming (or denying) their access.
  • Establish Video Chat parameters. You can disable the Video Chat feature for your child entirely; alternatively, you can have a notification pop up whenever your child wishes to engage in VIdeo Chat, which requires you to approve the request. (You can even disable an active Video Chat at any time via the app.)

If you've used the smartphone app, and you wish to remove Parental Controls, simply unlink the app from your Nintendo Switch 2.
