Amazon's latest MMO, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:New World, has been in multiple controversies since its launch. A plethora of bugs have been discovered week over week, growing in severity each time. What started with minor combat bugs has quickly turned into 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:game-breaking issues.
In just one month, players have learned how to duplicate items and currency, give the Hatchet a permanent 300% damage boost, become immune to all damage, disable gravity, blind players by injecting HTML code into global chat, and much, much more. Today, we'll be going over ten of the game's biggest issues that need to be addressed as soon as possible.
10 🎉 😼 Automated Bans
It's no secret that some New World players exploit every bug they can to gain an unfair advantage. These players are typically banned, but there have been quite a few reports ever since launch of players getting falsely banned. One notable example is the plague of fishing bots that occurred shortly after New World was released. Anyone that was actually fishing could get reported by some players. Most of those players received temporary bans even if they were unjust. As of writing, some players have also reported that trading Voidbent armor is triggering automatic bans as well—even if the armor was crafted legitimately.
In fact, report spamming has become a PvP tactic of sorts. Right before a war begins, some companies will mass report the leader of the opposing faction. This will ban the player for 24 hours without fail, which is enough time for an enemy Company to win a war. Make it clearer how bans are issued and ensure that mass-banning exploits are minimized as much as possible.
9 🎃 🔴 Adding Missing Ingredients And Recipies
Some of New World's crafted Legendary items are currently impossible to craft. Quite a few endgame materials that should exist currently don't. A few missing ingredients and recipes include:
- Life Crystal Cores
- Empowered Counterbalance
- Etched Handguards
- Reagents to craft 600 GS Arcana gear
- Light and medium variants of Voidbent armor
The exact number of missing ingredients is currently unknown. While light and medium Voidbent armor sets aren't in the game proper, it's strange this aspirational armor set doesn't have variants for non-tank builds.
8 Reduce Tuning Orb Crafting Costs ꦿ
A small yet notable issue, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:endgame Tuning Orbs have such obscene crafting costs that it heavily gatekeeps New World's endgame Expeditions—Lazarus Instrumentality and the Garden of Genesis. Farming endgame Expeditions is a core part of raising your character's Watermark near the endgame, and it's tied to farming some of New World's endgame weapons and armor. With these dungeon keys being locked behind hours of grinding, most players choose to never engage in these activities at all. Endgame Tuning Orbs need their crafting costs reduced.
7 ♌ War Changes
Wars are a crucial mechanic to New World. Factions fight one another to control certain parts of Aeternum, dictating that region's taxes 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:and projects. If you dislike how a Company is treating a particular region, you're meant to declare war on them.
There are two issues with this system currently:
- Wars are 50v50 with no way for excess players to participate.
- Companies in the same faction cannot declare war on a territory an opposing Company owns.
The first point encourages Companies to choose the same 50 players they're comfortable with, somewhat gatekeeping a player's ability to participate in a war. The second point is far more important, as it effectively means same-faction Companies are dealing with taxation without representation. There's no way you can overthrow a corrupt Company that's in your faction expect by switching factions—something you can only do once every 120 days. Allow excess war signups to participate in some sort of PvP event, and allow same-faction Companies to declare war on one another.
6 Weapon Balance ℱ
We've covered every weapon archetype in New World throughout its various betas and release. As powerful as certain combinations are, there's no denying that certain weapons are far stronger than others. The two major outliers right now are Hatchets and Life Staffs. The Fire Staff is also incredibly strong when used correctly.
Hatchets have everything you'd want from a weapon: sustain, DPS, mobility, and even stagger immunity. Life Staffs are incredibly strong when used as a secondary weapon, deploying healing effects on yourself before swapping to your main DPS weapon. When you pair this combo with heavy armor, New World's PvE and PvP content become trivial. A balance pass on all of New World's weapon types is needed. We do agree that heavy armor and the Life Staff are too strong together, but that's more of an armor balancing issue (see the next entry).
5 🍃 ꦰ Armor Balance
As of writing, heavy armor is overperforming all other armor types. It provides an immense amount of damage resistance, as it should. The issue is that light and medium armor don't have many benefits to warrant their lower resistance ratings. Both light and medium provide a paltry damage buff, and light armor's defenses make it a glass cannon for most content. More importantly, light armor doesn't have any form of resistance piercing, making heavy armor the definite pick for PvP with very few counters. Adding resistance piercing to light armor and boosting the damage bonus of medium armor would be a good start towards addressing this issue.
4 👍 Perk Fixes 𒀰
This rabbit hole goes quite deep, so we'll only be taking a surface-level look at this issue. Some common perk and attribute threshold bonuses that are bugged include:
- Weapon-related perks: The vast majority of perks that affect weapon skills, such as Empowering Fireball, don't work or do the opposite of what they state.
- Regenerating: It sometimes stops working until you re-equip the item.
- 250 Strength threshold: Abilities lock you in place.
3 Adjuꦅst Watermark Progression
Once your character reaches the level cap of 60, you'll begin an endgame grind to increase the Gear Score of your items. This is done by increasing your "Gear Score Watermark," the Gear Score range of items that drop for specific slots. If you've played other loot-based games like Destiny, this system should sound fairly familiar.
The issue is that Watermark progression is abysmally slow. Certain activities have higher Watermark bands than others, encouraging players to find other avenues to increase their score past 500. Trouble is, nearly all of these alternatives don't actually increase your Watermark. Some of these alternatives include:
- Crafting
- Purchasing items from a Trading Post
-
Obtaining set-rolled items from quests
- This includes legendary weapon quests
- Purchasing faction gear
That leaves you with farming Expeditions or Elite zones. Expeditions can drop items near the Gear Score Watermark cap, but Expedition Tuning Orbs are absurdly expensive so most save them until their Watermark is much higher. That leaves most players with farming Elite zones for hours on end, making for a mindless, repetitive endgame experience. There need to be more ways to increase your Gear Score Watermark, and Watermark progression needs to be accelerated.
2 ♑ F🉐ix Persistent Conditional Effects
It's been discovered a month after launch that many of New World's conditional perks will remain active when said condition is no longer met. The most notorious example of this is the Hatchet passive Against All Odds, granting 10% extra damage for every enemy near you. Currently, this damage 𒐪effect does not decrease when enemies die or move away from you, allowi🍌ng you to snapshot up to 300% bonus damage on your Hatchet for free. The effect even persists after death, breaking all semblance of weapon balance for PvP.
This bug isn't just affecting the Hatchet. The Bow's Catch Me If You Can passive also persists when you're no longer surrounded, granting a permanent movement speed boost. Even some consumables persist when they shouldn't. on the New World subreddit, Outpost Rush consumable items persist after the match ends, allowing players to stack up copious amounts of damage resistance and bonus damage in activities that weren't balanced around those bonuses.
1 Taxes Need🎃 To Be Reduced 🔥
Those following New World might have heard of a massive deflation crisis occurring around mid-October. It was a massive issue that was somewhat fixed by Outpost Rush getting re-enabled, yet a major cause for the game's deflation crisis has yet to be solved: taxes.
The irony isn't lost on us that an MMO made by Amazon has taxes in it, but this mechanic serves as a valuable money sink to prevent inflation and to give Companies a major reason to fight over territory. Unfortunately, Amazon went completely overboard. Companies can alter tax rates from 5-20% for using the Trading Post, crafting, and owning a home. Property Taxes are nothing short of absurd, requiring you to pay up to 20% of your property's value every five days. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Houses aren't cheap either, costing up to 20,000 coin. Paying upwards of 4,000 coin every five days just isn't doable for most players.
Companies don't fare much better. The upkeep costs of a settlement's crafting stations are unreasonably high as well. Trading hubs like Windsward and Everfall struggle to maintain upkeep costs while more niche settlements are left to rot. It's gotten so bad that some Companies will dissolve their organization and reform to remove their upkeep debt, acting as a strange video game version of declaring bankruptcy. Bottom line: all taxes need to be reduced, especially Property taxes and Company upkeep costs.
