Netflix finally has an🐲 answer to Amazon Prime's Fallout TV series in The Ete⛦rnaut. An original take on post-apocalyptic survival, the show is based in Buenos Aires, where a sudden and mysterious snowfall kills off a majority of the population, and the survivors have to reckon with what comes after. However, if you watched the show ♐and felt like some of the visual effects looked off, it's because they were c⛎reated using generative AI.

The Alters Not Discཧlosing AI Usage Is An Ill Omen Of Things To Come
If 🍷studios can just ignoreဣ rules about disclosing AI, what comes next?
The Eternaut doesn't have a big budget afforded to the likes of Stranger Things and Sandman, so you may have thought that the VFX are just of l✨ower quality. But a revealed that it was the first ever show on the platform to use generative AI and the execs are so happy with the result that they're p🃏lanning to further implement it into future projects.
Netflix's The Eternaut Uses GenAI For Some Scenes
As is the case with many investor meetings of late, one of the investors asked co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Gregory P🉐eters how generative AI will figure into future plans and how this will affect "time, revenue or expense efficiency."
"We ꧙remain convinced that AI represents an incredible opportunity to help creators make films and series better, not just cheaper," ans♒wered Sarandos. "Our creators are already seeing the benefits in production through pre-visualization and shot planning work and certainly, visual effects."

“AI Is Not Going A🅷way”: Darth Vader In Fortnite Exposed A Glaring Issue With AI Ethics, And It Goes Much Further Than Consent
AI Darth Vader inꦡ Fortnite is just the beginning, and it’s a rac𝓡e against time to protect actors.
"This year, we had El Eternaut. It's a very big hit show for us from Argentina. And in that production, we leveraged virtual production and AI-powered VFX," he continued. "And there was a shot in the show that the creat༒ors wanted to show buildings collapsing [in] Buenos Aires. So our Eyeline team partnered with their creative team. Using AI powered tools, they were able to achieve an amazing result with remarkable speed and in fact, that VFX sequence was completed 10x faster than it could have been completed with visual -- traditional VFX tools and workflows."
While this is just onᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚe scene from one show, it seems Netflix may be planning to use GenAI in more projects in order to roll them out faster and cheape💃r.
"We feel like there's tons of opportunity to leverage these new generative technologies to improve the experience," added Peters. "We've been in the persona💯lization and recommendation business for 2 decades, but yet we see a tremendous room and opportunity to make it even better by leveraging some of the more newer generative techniques."
He added that AI will could also help with Netflix's recommendation model, which doesn't sound too bad, but the comments about "new generative technologies" definitely points towards the platform lookin♏g to speed things up with the use of AI, rather than actual VFX artists.
Of course, this didn't go down well with someꦆ fans. "Profits over artistry," said a . "How and using what did that AI getꦑ trained? They’re going to enshitify art until it’s rendered completely meaningless."
