Summary

  • Netflix Games offers a variety of popular indie games for free to subscribers, and nobody is using it. I know we all hate Netflix, but come on. Free games.
  • Upcoming titles include Thirsty Suitors, The Case of the Golden Idol, and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit.
  • These games cater to different player preferences, so there's something for everyone. Except triple-A diehards, I guess.

Games is one of the more underappreciated ways you can play video games, and I tell people about it all the time. Since it seemingly 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:refuses to market itself, nobody outside of the gaming sphere really talks about it, or even knows it exists. I’ve found myself explaining to multiple people in my circle of friends that some of the industry&ꦓrsquo;s best indie games are free to play on the platform i🍷f they already have a Netflix subscription, and as much as we all love to complain about the streaming platform, most of us still do.

A brief scroll through the platform’s offerings shows me that it has Death’s Door, Hades, Kentucky Route Zero, Oxenfree and its sequel, Raji: An Ancient Epic, Braid, Shovel Knight, Immortality… The list goes on, and on, and on. There are even three early GTA games on there. But nobody knows they exist, and that they can be played with no extra charge, and ad-free (168澳洲幸运5开奖网:at least for now).

We’re now seeing even more beloved indies hit Netflix, and I’m once again finding myself begging my friends to play them with the pitch that they won’t even have to pay to try them out. This month will see Thirsty Suitors, The Case of the Golden Idol, and Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit made available on the platform. All cater to different kinds of players, and yet nobody seems that thrilled about it. So here I am to sell these games to you, with the reminder that you can play them for free.

Thirsty Suitors

This story-driven skateboarding/cooking RPG is sure to tickle the fancies of players who love turn-based combat, a mec෴hanic that also makes it conveniently translatable to mobile devices.

Slick, speedy, and stylish, Thirsty Suitors follows Jala, a woman who returns home after a bad breakupඣ and has to try to repair her relationships with her family, friends, and more. This means having to fight her six exes, for reasons you’ll discover. Glued together with a diverse cast, great voice acting and a strong narrative, there’s really no reason for you to skip this one. There isn’t a firm release date yet, but it’s ♕coming. And for free.

The Case of the Golden Idol

This puzzle-adventure game was beloved by critics and players alike when it was released in 2022, and I would go so far as to say it revolutionised the detective genre. My colleague Eric Switzer wrote a piece comparing it to , which is an apt comparison.

It’s perfect for mobile in that most of the gameplay revolves aro⛄und exploring different areas, collecting clues, and piecing them together in a fill-in-the-blank mechanic that allows you to figure out the who, what, why, when, and where of 12 bizarre, gory deaths, and how they’re all connected. It’s one of my 𝓡favourite puzzle games ever, and with a sequel slated for release some time in 2024, this is the perfect way for newcomers to experience the game. It’s already on Netflix’s library. Again, for free.

Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit

Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit is a sequel to Cozy Grove, an Animal Crossing-like life sim that works in real time. I’ve been playing it for the last two days, and I love it. You’re a scout, stranded on an island, but don’t stress about it – there are lots of friendly ghost bears around to keep you company. The Cozy Grove games work so well because they have time restrictions on the number of quests you can do per real🌜-time day, encouraging you to explore and interact with characters, but not overloading you with things to do so that you get sucked into the game and rush through it all in a couple of sittings.

💞Instead, Cozy Grove: Camp Spirit feeds you quests and stories over the course of weeks or even months, allowing you to check in on your camp while you’re having lunch, or commuting, or in bed, then put your phone down and do something else. It’s easy to fit into your life, it’s well written, the visuals are cute, and the characters are compelling. It’s out now, so you can start playing immediately. Also, free.
