  • Evershine will introduce a city-building element while maintaining the cozy RPG and life sim aspects of the series.
  • It aims to be "more adventurous than Sandrock".

I’ve spent countless hours living my best digital life in My Time at Portia and My Time at Sandrock, and now Pathea Games is taking the series in a new direction with the newly announced 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:My Time at Evershine. Last week, I had a sneak peek of Ever♒shine and spoke with Pathea vice president of publishing and business Aaron Deng and Evershine game director ෴Zhi Xu.

The first thing you’ll notice is that Evershine has lost that cartoony quality we’ve come to assoඣciate with the series, instead delivering more realistic character designs and proportions. Pathea Games has opted for a “more mature direction” for Evershine because it found the majority of its players were over the age of 25.

Deng says the team is not concerned about alienating their existing fan base with the new art direction as they did a survey to gauge interest before committing to the𒊎 change. Additionally, he tells me Pathea noticed many players were creating fan art of beloved My Time characters with more realistic features, which further inspཧired them to change the art style.

Most of the animations in Evershine will be motion captured and there will be a greater use of animation blending to deliver more visually appealing characters. Pathea Games describes☂ Evershine as “the most detailed My Time game yet” and hopes that moving in this new realistic direction while maintaining the cosiness of the series will help to attract more players and expand its community.

Characters outside a house in My Time at Evershine.

In Sandrock, we see characters from Portia make an appeara꧋nce, and Deng promises that the tradition will continue in Evershine. “There are some NPCs from Portia and Sandrock that will join [Evershine],” he tells me. “We have already decided some [who] will join, and then we will also [ask] our community in the future, maybe during the Kickstarter campaign, and ask what they want.” This means those old characters will undergo changes to match the new art direction, too. Will we love them just as much?

Despite the glow-up (which I adore, by the way) Evershine still has that familiar My Time feeling that fans know and love. It’ll feature the same blend of RPG and life/farmiꩲng sim, but it’s adding a little city builder spice into the mix. Don’t go thinking it’s suddenly City Sꦿkylines, but it’s another element that’s been added in to allow players to develop something new in managing a city and various NPCs. Pathea Games wants to give players the feeling of building and overseeing a community, delivering a game that is “more adventurous than Sandrock”.

This time, players won’t be some wayward builder rocking up to a pre-existing town, they’ll be taking on the role of Governor in a brand new settlement on the edges of the Free Cities. Evershine is set thre🤡e years after Sandrock, when the Duvos Empire has taken over the Orzu Ruins for themselves, despite Ethea also claiming it as their own, thus setting up the stakes for this new title. The Alliance of the Free Cities initiates the North Development Plan to move new settlers into the Northern Eufaula region for better defence, and that’s where you come in.

Peaceful scenery in My Time at Evershine.

You start from scratch with just a campfire and must recruit cuztomizable NPCs to improve your settlement🦩 via construction and resource gathering, all while ensuring your population is fed and housed. The more comfortable a settler is, the more efficient they will be. There will be both DIY buildings, where you build whatever you want, and template buildings available, and as you expand and build new and bigger structures, you’ll have a greater output and increase the types of items you have. As you progress, you can tame your surrounding territories to expand into to unlock new𝕴 resources, NPCs, and story missions.

Deng tells me that Sandrock had 1.5 million words in it, but the team aims 𒊎to have less in Evershine as they want for it to be more similar in size to Portia. “We found only 20 percent of our players who bought Sandrock finished the game. This time, we won’t make the game as long as Sandrock.” Additionally, unlike the previous My Time titles where the antagonists aren’t really in the picture until later in the game, Pathea Games is setting clearly defined villains from the get-go, aiming to help players feel that they’re getting to the meat of the narrative sooner.

Romance and relationships have always been a big part of the My Time games, and so naturally they’ll be back, bigger and better than ever. You can recruit NPCs from different sources, such as territories and from completing missionsꩵ, and these NPCs can help make your settlement more efficient in the city, become followers, and some can be romanced. NPCs can be trained to level up skills or assigned work to increase efficiency in certain areas, but you must keep their needs met as any NPCs who are always tired or hungry will leave yo♕ur settlement.

There will be eight to ten romanceable characters, 20-30 unique characters, and then randomised NPCs will make up the rest of your population. There’s also a new 💧focus on integrating the romanceable characters into the storyline more than ever before, with Pathea Games promising more flirting earlier on so that when romance does blossom, it feels more natural.

Followers are a new feature that acts similar to party members, where you can have up to three accompanying you at any given time to help you out when exploring or fighting, and naturally, you have to keep them happy and fed. Alternatively, you can send them out on tasks across Northen Eufala. Deng tells me these NPCs fulfil different roles, explaining “some of them are DPS, some of them are tanks” as just a couple of ex👍amples, and so you can build your team how you want it. You can also take your chosen romance as a follower, with Deng laughing, “Always take your husband or wife.”

Pathea Gamಞes is ensuring that Evershine has an easy expansion structure to allow for DLC in the year following launch, and has stated that any additional content after that will depend on the game’s success and community support. The base game will feature 40+ hours of gameplay and offer mod support, too. As well as single-player, there will be multiplayer for up to four players in player-hosted worlds where the difficulty will be dynamic, money will be shared, and the storyline can be experienced together, though only the host can proceed through the main story.

For those who can’t wait to sign up for a brand new adventure, My Time at Evershine is . Though Pathea Games found the community feedback helpful during early access in the past, it has not yet decided whether Evershine will have early access, especially as the Kickstarter backers essen🐼tially fill that same role. “Kickstarter backers will have access to try our earlier stage build or alpha build and then we'll try to get more suggestions and recommendations from them,” Deng says.

I would have been happy with a new entry in the My Time series regardless, but I’m especially excited to see Pathea Games taking bold new steps in art ꦚdirection and shaking things up with a new city-꧂builder element. Now I just need to hope that my old flames from Portia and Sandrock are some of the lucky few chosen to get a more realistic makeover for a cameo in Evershine.
