Either way, it is the exact kind of meta joke that is hilarious, accurate and very much in line with who The Joker is as a character.

In the leadup to its release, Johnson filmed a series of real-life promos in which he declared that Black Adam would change the hierarchy of power in the DC Extended Universe -- the name of DC's attempt at creating a cinematic universe akin to the MCU. That declaration became an instant meme, and it was poked at further when the movie flopped.

At final tally, Black Adam grossed a touch over $390 million, which, on paper, sounds like a lot. But, the movie needed an estimated $600 million to break even, , due to the insane budget it carried, including Johnson's take-home, the production of the film and its massive marketing efforts. In many ways, it served as one of the final death nails in Warner Bros' DCEU project, and now it will forever be immortalized in a fighting game.
