1997’s Best Picture winner is no doubt well-crafted, but it is also an incredibly monotonous film that is ꦬremembered 🔥by few. In comparison, Fargo was an iconic comedy gem from the Coen brothers, which continues to be remembered decades later and certainly would’ve made a better choice for the Best Picture Oscar.

Although Capote and Munich both would’ve made terrific alternatives for the big trophy, ultimately it’s the romance film Broke🐈back Mountain that most recognize should’ve received the glory at the 77th Academy Awards.

Martin Scorsese is unquestionably one of the greatest filmmakers of all time. Yet, despite his prodigious body of work, he hasn’t fared well come Oscar time. He to🌜ok home the Best Director Oscar for 2006’s The Departed, but that still doesn’t erase the injustice that befell at the 63rd Academy Awards.

1991’s Dance with Wolves is not even close to being an awful movie, but when compared to one of the most except👍ional crime movies ever released in Goodfellas, Dance with Wolves really should’ve stood no chance. Thankfully, Scorsese would eventually get his Oscar, but it ce﷽rtainly wasn’t a road free of transgression.

For the longest time, foreign movies have been severely overlooked at the Academy Awards. In recent years, we’ve seen more films from other countries getting deserved recognition 🌳and nominations, but it hasn’t always been smo⛎oth sailing even in the 2010s.

Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma was a heavy favorite going into the 91st Academy Awards. Despite being the first foreign film to pick up Best Director, it wasn’t enough for the main crown as Green Book would take home that year’s Best Picture in what many called the 'safe pick'.

In defiance of being extolled as one of the greatest films ever made, somehow, someway, it didn't win Best Picture. Even though Bridge to River Kwan is a great movie, when measured against one of the best of the best, there’s no debate about who should’ve won the Best Picture that day.
