has finally confirmed the rumours that Takeda Takahashi isn't Kenshi's son in Liu Kang's timeline, as his bio says that the two are actually cousins.
While it's true that Mortal Kombat 1 didn't exactly have the launch that most fans were hoping for, things have certainly improved over the last year. One of the main reasons for this is because of all the DLC fighters we've got, from Homไelander and Omni-Man to Ermac and Quan-Chi. The most exciting of all, though, is the return of Mortal Kombat X's best character, Takeda Takahashi.
As great as it is to see Takeda in Mortal Kombat 1, ever since he was confirmed to be part of the Kombat Pack, fans have had some big questions about his involvement in the new ti⛄meline. Would he be a time-traveller? Has he bee♚n aged up from his appearance in MKX? Is he even the same Takeda we knew from his debut?
Takeda's Mortal Kombat 1 Bio Confirms Some Massive Changes
Those questions only got worse when Mortal Kombat 1 was datamined and Takeda's dialogue hinted at his origin being completely changed. Those voice lines suggested that Takeda was no longer Kenshi's son and was in-fact his cousin, which would mark a huge change to the character's history.
Fans weren't sure if that would come to pass in the final game since it was datamined content, but it's now been confirmed to be true thanks to Takeda's bio. , Takeda's bio confirms that he and Kenshi are cousins in Liu Kang's new timeline and that he was also raised as a yakuza member.
The bio says that Takeda enjoyed that lifestyle and was tasked with killing Kenshi when he defected, leading to him being mortally wounded. Takeda was then healed by the Shirai Ryu and, after trying to escape and head back 𒉰to the yakuza, eventually learned to appreciate their commitment to Earthrealm.
Takeda's backstory might be wildly different, but he is at least voiced once more by Parry Shen, who played him in Mortal Kombat X.
This leads us to the Takeda we see in Mortal Kombat 1, who appears to be an official member of the Shirai Ryu. It remains to be seen just how different this interpretation of the character is going to be changed now that his history is so different. Here's hoping that his relationship with Kenshi remains a highlight of his character arc, even with the context being swapped around.
