Monster Hunter Wilds' Latest Update Should Finally Improve PC Performance Amid Player Backlash
Monster Hunter ไWilds' Title Update 2 directly addresses the game's biggest issue.
Its introduction in Wilds is a bit worrisome, though,🐻 as your companion Erik remarks that Lagi's presence in the Scarlet Forest represents a serious 📖threat to the ecosystem. Here's how to take down this latest monster as you complete the Trembling Blue Currents quest.
How To Unlock The Quest
To begin the quest, you'll need to speak with Erik in the Scarlet Forest, where he'll tell you about some strange Rathalos activity reported in the area, and you'll investigate with him as your accompanying Handler instead of Alma. You'll follow him on Seikret until a cutscene plays, introducing Lagiacrus, and the fight begins.
Best Equipment To Fight Lagiacrus
Fire and Dragon are particularly effective against Lagiacrus, so consider weapons with those properties, like the Enduring Tor Insect Glaive, or the Wyvern Blade Lily Long Sword. Bladed weapons in the Rathalos, Quematrice, Zoh Shia, and Arkveld trees are good choices, allowing you to destroy Lagi's tail and exploit its elemental weaknesses easily.
When it comes to armor, nothing beats a Rey Dau armor set, as it offers exceptional Thunder resistance, protecting you from Lagi𒐪acrus's blasts while still offering good defense values.
Fighting Lagiacrus
Lagiacrus has a long body, similar to Mizutsune, so you'll need to be cognizant of how you move around it. Generally, when it comes to physical attacks, Lagi will lunge at you with its midsection, attempting to body check you. This makes hanging out by the tail a little safer, as it will be easier to roll away and get past any attacks. However, you will need to watch out for tail swipes.
Focusi🦋ng your attacks on tꦕhe tail is also smart, given that it can be severed and grant you another carve.
Of course, Lagiacrus has more up its sleeve than just brute force. It's equipped with an array of lightning-based attacks as well. The most tricky to assess would be its lightning burst, which it does while standing still. If you are meleeing the monster and you see the crystals on its back glow, roll away quickly. Despite how quickly the attack activates, it has deceptively poor range.
Lagi will also spit lightning at you, but this is well telegraphed through its head movements and ca🍸n be avoided either by running or rolling. If you're struck by these lightning-enhanced attacks, you can shed the debuff by eating a Nulberry.
After attacking the Lagiacrus for a while, it will become enraged, causing the crystals to continuously spark electricity. It will become more aggressive with the lightning spits, and the burst attack's range will be significantly extended, requiring you to run away to avoid taking serious damage. Additionally, charge and body slam attacks will be enhanced with lightning effects.
Underwater Mechanics
During the fight, the Lagiacrus will retreat underwater to unleash a powerful discharge attack, and you'll be able to follow it into the water to continue the battle. After you dive in, you'll be given a few different ways to combat Lagi.
Get your bearings with the controls (you'll only be able to move up, down, and evade), then look for Helix Piercing Pods. These will be loaded into your slinger, and you can shoot them at the Lagiacrus.
You can also destabilize rubble in the environment and make it fall on the Lagiacrus, but this is contextual, and you can take advan✅tage of it only when the monster is in the correct spot.
Hitting the monster with your slinger will open up opportunities to cling to it. This works just like mounting, except you need to manually aim and select where you can cling.
Once on the Lagiacrus, attack with your knife and weapon to destroy wounds, and after a brief cutscene, both you and Lagi will emerge from the water, where the fight will continue.
Capturing Lagiacrus
When the skull icon starts appearing near Lagiacrus on the minimap, it's time to capture the beast. Set down your trap, hit it with tranq bombs, and the h✃u꧟nt will conclude.
If you do not have any traps or tranq boꦅmbs on you when the quest starts, they will be provided for you via the Seikret pouch at the end.
Lagiacrus - Drops And Materials
The Lagiacrus is a high-rank exclusive monster, and you can expe🐽ct it to drop the following items:

How To Change Handlers

Erik will now be unlocked as an equippable handler, and if you want to switch handlers, simply speak to him in the Scarlet Forest base camp.
