They managed to get as far as contacting Copeland and setting up a recreation of the moment in the stream's original world, but the hunt for the actual uploaded live stream continued as Copeland himself couldn't find it.

Well, that hunt has now finally come to an end, as a random YouTuber called Brutalillfjomp uploaded the entire stream to their channel earlier today (which you can find above) after detailing what we know about the Herobrine story so far. According to Brutalillfjomp, they had the stream saved to their computer since 2010, but didn't even realize that it was a piece of lost media.

If you want to check out the infamous Herobrine moment for yourself, it takes place right at the end of the video before Copeland switches off his stream out of fear. Of course, now that we know it's just a painting imprinted on a wooden block, it seems kind of silly, but it's great to have a piece of legitimate Minecraft history restored like this and readily available for people to watch should they like to know how the legends started.
