Once fast travel is unlocked, you can warp between cities at your leisure. This is a game-changer. In this quick primer, we'll tell you when this teleport⛎ation ability comes about as well as exactly how it works and what its limitations involve. Let's just say the protagonist of Metaphor: ReFantazio is truly full of surprises.

How To Unlock Fast Travel

The protagonist in Metaphor: ReFantazio prepares to teleport to Martira

On the afternoon of June 28th, you will automatically be sent to the Gauntlet Runner's Engine Room to speak with Neuras. A strange thing will happen: the protagonist appears to react physically to a mysterious part of the ship.

This has the unfortunate effect of sending you straight to bed, canceling out any plans you might have had for your nighttime action. But it's well worth the momentary setback. On June 29th, teleportation will be unlocked.

You can even test it out right then; after warping back to Martira, you can jump right on back to Grand Trad. Grand Trad and Martira will be the only available destinations for the time being, but that will most assuredly change as the story 💜progresses.

The Limitations Of Fast Travel

Hulkenberg reflects on the usefulness of fast travel in Metaphor: ReFantazio

In clever worldbuilding phrasing, the protagonist requires a strong bond with the destination they have in mind. In practical, gameplay terms, this means that you're unable to teleport to world map locations such as dungeons and those smaller, one-screen, towns.

It makes sense, really. The entire travel mechanic would be nullified right then and there. The good news is that you can teleport back and forth between the major cities you've unlocked access to as many times as you'd like on any given day.

In other words, Metaphor: ReFantazio won't penalize you for, say, purchasin❀g some gear in one city, and then🐼 spending your time action in another city.

You don't need to revisit the Gauntlet Runner's engine room, either. Just open your map, swap to the world map, and select one of the warp-capable locations. It's not unlike moving between the various wards in - exce✤pt there's no f𓂃ee!

Do bear in mind that there will be certain story-intensive days within which fast travel will be unavailable. For the most part, though, it'll always be there for you from June 29th onward.
