Every Card In Magic: The Gathering's The Lost Caverns Of Ixalan
It's time for Magic: The Gathering𝔍 to head below the surface a𝓡nd into The Lost Caverns Of Ixalan.

---|---|---|
Lara Croft, Tomb Raider |
Heart of the Explorer//The Lost Valley (Search for Azcanta//Azcanta, the Sunken Ruin) |
Storms of Yamatai (Anger of the Gods) |
The Grim Whisper (Bow Of Nylea) |
Totec's Spear (Shadowspear) |
Kitezh, Sunken City (Academy Ruins) |
The headliner of this Superdrop is the latest Universes Beyond crossover with the Tomb Raider series. The drop includes six cards and a treasure token, with all but one card being r🍨eprints with new Tomb Raider-y skins.
The one mechanically unique card is Lara Croft, Tomb Raider herself. A green/blue/red Human Ranger, she steals legendary artifacts and lands from g𝓰raveyards and lets you play them. Sh🔜e also gives you a Treasure token just for attacking, giving you a good way to afford whatever she plunders.
Reprints-wise, there's some great stuff here, like Shadowspear and Academy Ruins almost single-handedly making the drop worth its cost. Even if you're not a massive Tomb Raider fan, this is likely one of the drops you should be looking into picking up.
is one oꩲf the most expensive drops, coming in at $39.99 for a regular edition, and $49.99 for a foil. However, you also get more cards than any other release iꦯn the Superdrop.
Secret Lair x Jurassic World: Life Breaks Free

---|---|---|
Tyrannosaurus Rex (Etali, Primal Storm) |
Velociraptor (Rampaging Ferocidon) |
Indominus Rex (Polyraptor) |
Triceratops (Wayward Swordtooth) |
Spinosaurus (Regisaur Alpha) |
Two Jurassic World-themed drops are also included in this year's Secretversary, to tie in with the recent release of The Lost Caverns of Ixalan and its own Jurassic World-themed cards.
The drop is Life Breaks Free, which focuses on the dinosaurs𓄧 of the series. These are all reprints of existing creatures wit𒀰h new, very industrial looks.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of its slight lack of readability, but the inclusion of Polyraptor helps bump the value up massively. If you're building a Dinosaur deck and need some of the all-timers of the creature type, there are worse ways to get a hold of them.
will s﷽et you back $29.99 for a regular edition, andꦦ $39.99 for a foil one.
Secret Lair x Jurassic World: Dr. Ian Malcolm

---|---|---|
Chaotic Chaotician (Laboratory Maniac) |
Malcolm's Mercurial Mirth (Tasha's Hideous Laughter) |
Ian, Convalescent Charmer (Tasigur, the Golden Fang) |
Dr. Ian Malcolm (Atla Palani, Nest Tender) |
Featuring four cards and a token, the second Jurassic World drop focuses on Jeff Goldblum's wisecracking Ian Malcolm. Like Life Breaks Free, this is a drop of reprint with new Goldblum-y names and art. Slightly oddly, it also includes a reprint of an Adventures In The Forgotten Realms card, meaning we're entering a second layer of crossover we've not seen before.
Value-wise, this is one of the weakest drops so far, falling short of its $30 pricetag despite Tasha's Hideous Laughter reprint. This is only one you're going to get if you're either committed to a Jurassic World deck, or just really, really like Jeff Goldblum for some reason.
The drop costs $29.99 for a non-foil edition, and $39.99⛎ for a reꦅgular foil.
Tales Of The Time Stoppers

---|---|---|
Beacon of Tomorrows |
Nexus of Fate |
Time Reversal |
Time Stop |
Moving on from Universes Beyond, we've got a collection of four time-centric spells designed to skip turns, end them early, or get entire extra ones. All four cards come in a very turn-of-the-century illustration style by Micha Huigen.
The art, while slightly bordering on the unreadable at times, looks stunning. The cards themselves are also pretty interesting, marking a first-time reprint of Nexus of Fate. Value-wise it's also the biggest card there. A personal favourite is Time Stop, with its interesting ability to outright end the turn at instant speed, bypassing all end step triggers and exiling the rest of the stack.
is $29.99 for a 💖regular edition, and $39.99 for foil.
Mycosynthwave

---|---|---|
Mycosynth Golem |
Mycosynth Lattice |
Mycosynth Wellspring |
Tron is one of my all-time favourite movies, and this synthwave-y drop by Signalnoise really channels those Tron vibes. With sun-kissed colours and glowing neon, artistically it's one of the most impressive drops we've had in a while.
Thanks to the reprints of Mcyosynth Golem and Mycosynth Lattice, it's also one of the best value propositions despite its meagre three card offering. Golem on its own is worth more than the drop, making the other two effectively freebies. Mycosynth Wellspring is worth virtually nothing, but with that art, does that really matter?
will cost you $29.9🍒9꧑ for a non-foil, and $39.99 for foil.
Through The Wormhole

---|---|---|
Arcane Signet |
Lightning Greaves |
Sol Ring |
Thought Vessel |
Command Tower |
It may be a couple of years before Magic blasts off into outeꦰr space, but this drop lets you prep your Commander decks for that day with a series of staples with a stunning sci-fi style by Dani Pendergast.
None of these cards are valuable on their own, as they've been reprinted into oblivion in almost every single Commander preconstructed deck. But that doesn't mean they aren't gorgeous, with someone rollerblading on the ring of a planet, a tower in the middle of the universe, and a black hole in an astronaut's head.
This is the kind of thing Secret Lair should be doing more of. It isn't always about whether you get the exact market value off of your purchase, sometimes it's just about getting cool art for cards you'll use.
will be ♏$29.99 for a regular version, and $39.99 for f🌜oil.
Showcase: The Lost Caverns Of Ixalan
Showcase: The Lost Caverns Of Ixalan |
||
---|---|---|
Captain Lannery Storm |
Admiral Beckett Brass |
Elenda, the Dusk Rose |
Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca |
Vona, Butcher of Magan |
It isn't a Superdrop without a tie-in to the latest set, and this showcase brings back some classic Ixalan names in the set's temple-esque alt-art showcase style.
Unfortunately, all of these cards have been reprinted tons of times since their debut, including among the Commander decks of the Lost Caverns of Ixalan. The value for this drop is right through the floor, with it just scraping ten dollars for the lot. This is only one you want to get if you're looking to bling out a deck with an Ixalan theme or something.
will be available ♔for $29.99 regular, and $39.99 foil.
Paradise Frost

Snow-Covered Plains |
Snow-Covered Island |
Snow-Covered Swamp |
Snow-Covered Mountain |
Snow-Covered Forest |
It's time for the obligatory basic land drop designed more for digital copies on MTG Arena than actual tabletop play. Despite the general disappointment of a drop of basic lands only including five cards and not enough to kit a whole deck of, these are really, really nice.
Each includes an "idyllic midwinter scene" by ELK64, including deer, foxes, eagles, and birds all living among the snowdrifts of a wintery forest. The fact they're snow-covered basics also helps sweeten the deal a little, as they're more valuable and have some unexpected uses in many decks.
cos𒐪ts $39.99 for a regular version, and $39.99 for foil.
Gift Wrapped

---|---|---|
Giver of Runes |
Distant Melody |
Cathartic Reunon |
Moment's Peace |
Homeward Path |
One of the oddest and most visually striking drops this time around is Jesse LeDoux's Gift Wrapped, inspired by kitsch 1970s' wrapping paper. Each one is a colourful doodle of shapes, which fits really nicely with the full-art nature of the cards themselves.
Giver of Runes and Homeward Path are the winners here value-wise. It isn't quite enough to make up the whole drop, but this is one of those drops where the art outweighs any kind of market value. The card choices also fit really nicely with the theme, being all about peace, sharing, and pacifism.
Like most of the other drops, will set you back $29.♋99 for the regular version, and $39.99 for foil.
Bundles
If you're planning on buying multiple drop,s there's a chance a bundle could be the more cost-effective way to go about it. Also keep in mind that, for this drop, spending over $200 will also get you an exclusive version of The Locust God in a Mesoamerican-style stone carving style.
The bundles are:
