As a 4/4 flyer with infect, it can stack up poison on a single opponent fast, especially combined with his cheap haste-granting ability, p𒀰articularly useful when Skithiryx is rising from the command zone multiple times a game.

This may not be necessary, however, given the Dragon’s second ability, which lets🦹 him r🐼egenerate for just two black mana, thus avoiding the majority of destruction-based removal. This all combines to make Skithiryx a powerful, resilient threat that your opponents will come to dread the sight of.

Amazing creature type aside, this Phyrexian Elephant Wizard plays extremely well in a staple Phyrexian deck archetype: an artifact-focused build. Creating a 3/3 Golem when it enters the battlefield, as well as at the end of your turn, provided three or more artifacts entered the baಞttlefield under your control this turn. Malcator can build you an artifact army in no time flat.

There are a number of synergies to exploit here, from just playing a lot of cheap artifacওts, to blinking Malcator himself. It’s worth noting that Malcator’s Golems contribute to his second ability, so you only need two more artifacts to enter play the turn you play him to trigger his second ability. It doesn’t look like much, but Malcaওtor can easily oversee your opponents’ demise in a pure artifact deck.

11 Elas Il-Kor, Sadistic Pilgrim

Aristocrats Gone Evil

Her power comes down to a combination of factors, main♒ly her ability to gain life when your creatures enter play, and her ability to damage all of your opponents when one of your creatures dies.

Hitting every opponent at once makes it easy to grind down the entire Commander pod over a few turns of creature sacrifice, and can even be used in combination with cards like Gravecrawler and Phyrexian Altar for an instant combo win. This can lead to all kinds of shenanigans, depending on what cards you hit, and it’s worth notin🐠g that you can still play the exiled cards even if Ixhel isn’t in play, so there’s no way for your opponents to deny you these extra resources. While other poison commanders may end the game faster, few lꦬet you have as much fun doing it as Ixhel does.

Yawgmoth’s long-awaited second-in-command more than lives up to the hype, proving just as powerful in Commander as he has in other formats. His first ability has serious political implica🥃tions in a game, encouraging your opponents to attack each otherꦡ instead of you for the card advantage Gix provides.

This makes Gix a rare commander that your opponents will likely want to keep in play rather than remove on sight, giving you plenty of time to build up the mana for his second ability. This lets you essentially trade in cards in your hand for free spells from the top of an opponent’s deck, leading to huge swings when you consider the massive creatures that ofte💛n see play in the format.

Vohar is small and cheap enough that opponents will likely leave him be, noticing all too late that the gradual advantage he has given you has won you the game.

All Five Colors, Together

Players had been waiting for years for the final Omanth to enter♚ the game. Starting off as just a mono-green creature back in Zendikar, Omnath would slowly collect more and more colors with subsequent printings, though black was the final color.

Unfortunately, this avatar of mana on Zendikar got that black mana through Phyrexian corruption, turning it into a mana battery for black mana. Anytime you have unspent mana in your mana pool, you keep it and it gets transformed into b꧋lack mana instead. You also get a free card at the start of your first main phase, so long that the card is three or more colors.

While many were distracted by the card’s flashy meld back half, the base creature here is incredibly powerful, draining the entire table for potentially huge amounts when swinging in withไ a large board.
