After all, instead of trying to burn down one opponent with 20 life, you typically play against three opponents with 40 life each. And since most burn spells are one-shot instants and sorceries, you're at a major disadvantage against the permanents lining up on the other side of the൩ battlefield.

The Commander
Ghyrson Star🅘n, Kelermorph, is a legendary 3/2 Tyranid Human creature from the Warhammer 40K Tyranid Swarm Universes Beyond deck. He comes equipped with ward 2, making him difficult to remove, especially early in the game. And he can joiꦍn the fray pretty early thanks to his low mana cost of one generic, one red, and one blue.
Ward is always nice, but Ghyrson also has the unique Three Autostubs ability. This ability causes Ghyrson Starn, Kelermorph to deal two damage to any target whenever another source you control deals exactly one damage to that target. Suddenly, every one-damage ping hits like a Lightning Bol🐭t!
Building Your Deck
If you're building around Ghyrson Starn, your goal should be to do one damage at a time to your opponents and their creatures and planeswalkers. After all, as long as he's on the field, barely-noticeable mosquito bites from cards like Prodigal Sorcerer become lightning bolts, and since one damage isn't a powerful effect it's frequently bundles with other effects or is incredibly inexpensive to play. If you s🔴tack on some additional damage effects you'll really be cooking.
Pinging Permanents
While there are plentyꦚ of cheap instants and sorceries that will deal exactly one damage to your targets, they're usually one-and-done, while permanents can hang around and give additional value. Look for red permanents that deal exactly one damage.
Thermo-Alchemist and Unruly Catapult tap to deal a single damage to each opponent, and untap when you play an instant or sorcery. You can keep them untapped through your opponents' turns and ping before responding to their actions with an instant, then zap them again right before your turn starts.
Erebor Flamesmith and Kessig Flamebreather don't tap for their effects, but they also spread out damage whenever you case instants and sorceries, and anꦓy other noncreature spell🐠 in the case of the Flamebringer.
At the same time you're adding damage to just about anything you cast, consider adding aꦇ tax to yꦆour opponents' plays. Mana Barbs will ping each player (including yourself, but you can build to mitigate that!) every time they tap a land for mana.
Your opponent might hesitate to Cancel your spell if they'll take nine damage just tapping for mana, and another three from Scalding Viper being in play. Immolation Shaman will𝐆 even add damage whenever they try to use a nonmana ability.
Even your lands can cause problems. Your low mana curve will leave a lot of room fo𒅌r utility lands, so be sure to include both Desert and Sunscorched Desert. Sunscorched Desert will ping your opponent when it comes into play, while Desert will allow you to zap an opponent's attacking creature at the end of ༺the combat step.
Desert doesn't require you to be involved in combat, so you 💯can use it to remove an opponent's problematic creature even when it attacks anoꦐther player.
Value Spells
Lightning Bolt, an instant that dea🌺ls three damage for one red mana, is a staple card, and about the best damage to mana ratio you can hope to find. With Gyrson Starn in play, ꦦthough, you can do much better.
With your commander in play, Spikefield Hazard and Lava Dart are functionally identical to Lightning Bolt, except that Spikefield Hazard will also exile any creature it destroys and can be played as a land in a pinch, while Lava Dart can be cast from the g൲raveyard by sacrificing a mountain.
But why stop at th🧔ree damage to one source, when for one🍃 more generic mana you can overload Electrickery and do three damage to every creature you don't control.
They're a little slower, but several sorce𒉰ries have similar effects. Blazing Volley and Smash to D💫ust hit every creature your opponents control. Tectonic Hazard does the same, plus all of your opponents, and End the Festivities even hits your opponents' planeswalkers.
Here, you'll also find your likely finishing spell, Grapeshot. For one generic 🔯and one red mana, Grapeshot only deals one damage to the target of your choice, but storm means it will be copied for every other spell you've played that turn.
Fang Drꦯagon and Frolicking Familiar can be cast as adventures that deal one damage, and can then be cast as creatures later. These provide handy options because their adventures are strong spells in this deck, and can be reused later when you have mana to burn.
Power Up
Ghyrson Starn, Kell🐟ermorph, can benefit from any effect that checks for noncombat damage, and several usefu🅠l auras and equipments will make him a monster.
Ghyrson is a powerful damage dealer, but he's also indiscriminate. Several effects in your deck will cause him to hit you with his Three Autostubs ability, but you can mitigate that damage by giving him Lifelink via Loxodon Warhammer. You'll still take three damage every time you tap a land for mana, but you'll get two life𒀰 back immediately, and two more e🌸very time an opponent taps a land.
Deathtouch is also a great ability on Ghyrson Starn, turning spells like Blazing Volley into asymmetrical boardwipes. Gorgon's Head is the cheapest way t𝓀o give him deathtouch, but consider Quietus Spike, which will cut your opponents' life in half each time your commander deal🌊s damage to them.
Basilisk Collar costs exactly the same as Gorgon's Head to cast and to equip, but gives both deathtouch and lifelink. This should be attached to Ghyrson as soon as possible!
Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, and Tandem Lookout all have the same effect, allowing you to draw cards whenever the enchanted creature deals damage to an opponent. You can stack two of them on Ghyrson, or spread them out onto other damage dea🐽lers like Thermo-Alchemist or Immolation Shaman൲.
The last thing your opponent will suspect is for Ghyrson Starn, Kellermorp🎉h to 🌞start delivering poison counters, so surprise them by including Corrupted Conscience.
Deck Tech
What's an♏ Izzet deck with🌃out some tricks? Try adding a couple of these for synergy, surprises, and combos.
This is an excellent deck for Isochron S🍷cepter, giving you reusable access to staples like Izzet Cꦫharm, Counterspell, and Reverberate. And if you imprint Dramatic Reversal and have a couple mana rocks out, you've just won the game.
Niv-Mizzet, Parun and Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind both provide passive card draw and are great fits for this deck.✨ Better yet, both go infinite with the same draw cards recommended for your commander. Be ready for some groans, though: Niv-Mizzet Curiosity is a well-known combo.
Exalted Flamer of Tzeentch continues the theme of punishing your opponents for your spells, but also returns instants and sorceries from your graveyard to your hand every turn, so you never run out of option. Gale, Waterdeep Prodigy, allows you to cast those same spཧells from your graveyard whenever you cast one from your hand.
