If you want to build a fast, aggressive, and damage-based Commander deck in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Magic: The Gathering, look no further than mono-red. It's full of cards that deal direct damage to players or creatures and is the most aggressive color in the format. If you're a first-time player and want a simple, but fun color to build around, red is a great bet.
168澳洲幸运5开奖网:commanders are the ones you can grab for around six dollars or less. There will always be the expensive staple commanders for each color, but if you're not looking to spend a heap of money (which we all know is very easy to do in the commander format) here are some budget options to consider for mono-red.
BudgetUpdated March 23, 2023, by Ryan Hay: Three new commanders are making an impact in Magic: The Gathering, and offer completely reasonable price points for those looking to pick up a few games among friends and at your local LGS. There is a different approach to both a Treasure-heavy and Dragon-themed deck that rewards an aggressive strategy against the table, a brand-new approach to token-making in red that is dependent on the number of spells you have cast before moving to combat, and a new cEDH powerhouse, with an immensely impactful ability that pits your opponents against each other.
13 🅰 Valduk, Keeper Of The Flame 💧
Valduk, Keeper Of the Flame is a great budget Voltron 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:commander. For only three mana, Valduk can be cast ♏early, so he can be powered up very quickly in the game. At the beginning of your combat phase, you create a 3/1 Elemental creature token with trample and haste for each aura and equipment attached to Valduk, then exile those tokens at the beginning of yourꦡ end step.
The longer Valduk stays in play, the more attackers you get each 🍒combat. Play equipment cards like Thran Power Suit to power Valduk up the second he enters the battlefield or Darksteel Plate to make him indestructible. With the right equipment and auras,💎 Valduk can become very strong very quickly.
12 Daretti, Scrap Savant 🍸
If you like playing with artifacts, and lots of them, Daretti is the commander for you. Daretti, Scrap Savant is a four-mana Planeswalker that is all about keeping your side of the field stocked with artifacts. Its +1 ability allows you to discard up to two cards and then draw that many cards. You can use it to discard artifact cards, then use it's -2 ability, in which you sacrifice an artifact and return an artifact card from your graveyard to the battlefield.
You can use these abilities in tandem to discard big artifact creatures like Myr Battlesphere and Combustible Gearhulk and then bring them back to the battlefield for no mana. Daretti's final ability is absurdly impactful, giving you an emblem that, whenever an artifact is put into your graveyard from the battlefield, you can put it back onto the battlefield at the beginning of the next end step.
11 Feldon Of The🌠 Third Path
Feldon of the Third Path is another great budget commander if you want to play with artifacts. Its ability allows you to pay one red and two generic mana and tap it to create a token that's a copy of a target creature card in your graveyard that is an artifact in addition to its other types.
This card synergizes well with creatures that have powerful enter the battlefield abilities like Molten Primordial or Hoarding Dragon. Since the cards you target in your graveyard don't become exiled after creating a copy, you can use sorcery cards such as Cathartic Reunion to discard the creatures you want to create copies of.
10 𒐪 Etali, 🎶Primal Storm
Etali, Primal Storm is a 6/6 six drop that can be a little hit or miss, but when it hits, it hits hard. When Etali attacks, each player exiles the top card of their library. You may then cast any nonland cards exiled this way without paying their mana costs. Etali is a huge target for your opponent's removal spells so make sure you bring cards like Swiftfood Boots to help keep it alive and let it attack in the same turn you cast it.
Etali works wel👍l with sorcery cards such as Seize the Day and World at War which give you extra combat phases. Playing a four-player game with two combat phases and Etali as your commander, you could be playing up to eight extra cards a turn.
9 Zo-Zu The P🥀unisher
Zo-Zu the Punisher, as his name suggests, punishes your opponents whenever they play a land card. This is an especially nasty card if you're playing a ramp deck. Whenever a land card comes into play, Zo-Zu deals two damage to that land's controller. This includes you as well, so an integral part of this deck's strategy is filling up your mana pool with as few land cards as possible.
Artifact cards like Nyx Lotus, which gives you mana of a chosen color equal to your devotion to that color are essential to make sure you're not losing life unnecessarily. You can pack this deck with enchantments that punish your opponents for using land or destroy your opponents' land. Use Manabarbs to deal one damage to a player anytime they tap a land for mana or War's Toll which forces a player to tap all of their lands whenever they tap one.
8 Krenko,⛎ Mob Boss ♔
If you want to make a Goblin-themed deck, look no further than Krenko, Mob Boss. It's a straightforward and consistent strategy that will overwhelm your opponents with a swarm of pesky Goblins. Krenko costs four mana to cast and when you tap it, you put X 1/1 Goblin creature tokens onto the battlefield where X is the number of Goblins you control. You can see how, if left unchecked, your opponent can be facing an army of Goblins very quickly.
On top of that, there are so many Goblin creatures that make🏅 it easier to cast other Goblins, boost Goblins under your control, and generate Goblin tokens. Goblin Warchief makes Goblin spells♚ you cast cost one less mana and Goblin Chieftain gives other Goblins +1/+1 and haste.
7 🤪 🎃 Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician
You won't see too many decks built around Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician, which is a shame. People will often opt for a more straightforward Goblin like Krenko. But that's what budget commanders are all about; cheap cards you may not normally use, but can be very powerful when you do. Whenever another Goblin you control becomes blocked, sacrifice it. If you do, it deals four damage to each creature blocking it.
Your opponent can't let you do direct damage forever, so they'll have to block your Goblins eventually. Four damage won't destroy every blocker, so you can use some red instants like Outnumber to deal extra damage to get rid of big threats.
6 Heartless Hidetsuꦚ🙈gu
Red is known for its fast and aggressive play style. If you want to leverage this to its full extent, then Heartless Hidetsugu is a perfect commander. A five mana 4/3, tapping it deals damage to each player equal to half that player's life total, rounded down. This commander, when used properly, can end games in a flash.
Pair it with enchantments that cause sources to deal double the damage they usually would, like Curse of Bloodletting. If a player is at full life, enchanted with Curse of Bloodletting, and after activating Heartless Hidetsugu's ability, they would lose the game.
5 Chandra, Fire of Kalades🔯h // Chandra, Roaring Flame🌞
This version of Chandra transforms fr♏om a human shaman into a Planeswalker and is a great commander if you want to build a burn-type deck. Whenever you cast a red spell, you can untap Chandra. Tapping her allows you to deal one damage to a target player. If Chandra deals three or more damage in a turn you exile her🌟, then return her to the battlefield transformed.
As a Pl🅠aneswalker, her strength lies in dealing direct damage. Her first two abilities deal two damage to either a target player or a target creature. Her ultimate ability deals six damage to all opponents and gives 🧔them an emblem that deals them three damage at the beginning of their upkeep.
4 Magda, 🥂Brazen Outlaw 🐲
An all in Treasure commander, Magda, Brazen Outlaw does a number of things exceptionally well to allow for impressive turns. Magda makes for a solid Dwarf deck commander, giving your Dwarf creatures +1/+0 and creating Treasure tokens when you tap them. You don't even have to attack with them to get the Treasure tokens, you can tap them to crew vehicles or even convoke spells.
The real power of the deck comes when you sacrifice five Treasure tokens, letting you search your library for an artifact or Dragon card, whichever fits your fancy, and puts it directly in play. This ability can be done at instant speed, so you can use it in response or even go tutor up cards like Hellkite Tyrant, which on your upkeep you win the game if you control twenty or ♋more artifacts for a sneaky win.
