Updated on January 28, 2025, by Eva Csaki: We returned to this guide to add Caleb's main story and first myth content, as well as other information about him from his character release.
This ar🧸ticle contains spoilers for the main storyline and Caleb's Myth memories.
Who Is Caleb?
Caleb is the MC's long-time childhood friend. Fourteen years ago, after the Chronorift Catastrophe of 2034, Caleb and the MC were both orphaned through as-of-yet-unknown circumstances. At this point, Grandma (or Gran, as Caleb calls her), takes in both children.
The MC was around seven or eight years old when their 'Grandma', Josephine, took them in, but Caleb is a few years older than the MC and is 25 years old when introduced in the main storyline.
Caleb is the second tallest of the love interests at six feet two inches (or about 188 cm) tall. He has dark brown hair and light violet eyes. His Evol is Gravity Manipulation.
Before Caleb was officially announced as a new love interest, some theorized that he would become one because of his character model's 'galaxy eyes.' While not a scientific approach, this method may help identify future love interests in-game before they are officially announced.
Caleb's birthday is June 13, making him a Gemini. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Past birthday events began around a week before the character's actual🀅 birthday, so his event will likely begin ar๊ound June 6.
Caleb is available as a love interest and companion character after completing Episode Three of Vanishing Skyward.
Caleb's Past
Caleb has been by the MC's side the longest of the love interests, since he has lived with the MC since they were both children. The pair were raised by Josephine — a former scie𝔍ntist with Ever — who adopted the two as her grandchildre🌊n.
Caleb, like the MC, is childhood friends with Dr. Zayne. Heಞ even suggests inviting him o𝔍ver to a family dinner.
After graduating from school in Skyhaven, Caleb entered the military as a fighter pilot in the Deepspace Aviation Administration (DAA) - a prestigious and highly secretive military organization.
During his time in flight school, Caleb did not see his Gran or the MC for several months at a time.
Before leaving for flight school, the MC gives Caleb a silver necklace with an apple charm and the words 'When U Come Home' engraved on it. He is seen wearing this necklace when he is introduced in Chapter Four of the main storyline.
Caleb's Anecdote
A rare window into Caleb's life in the DAA is opened in his Anecdote story, Pathless Realm. The Anecdote reveals that despite what the MC and their Grandmother believe, Caleb never actually graduated from Deepspace Academy.
Pathless Realm takes place during Caleb's DAA exams. While Caleb excelled in all physical evaluations and never lacked the determination to be at the top of his class, he barely passed his psychiatric evaluation and was recommended to speak with a psychiatric professional based on his test 🐬s𓄧cores.
The reason Caleb failed his psych eval is never explicitly stated, but it very likely had to do with his attitude toward death and the unconventional reason he wanted t♍o become a pilot.
For his final Flight Exam, Caleb was the first student in his class sent into the Deepspace Tunnel. Despite his flight path only consisting of previously explored areas of the Tunnel, Caleb encountered an unidentified electromagnetic radiation flux and his ship was thrown off course, resulting in the loss of his navigatဣional system and comms.
Set adrift in the dark, unexplored expanse of the Deepspace Tunnel, Caleb is unable to return home. On the ground, his classmates and professors fear he has died, but send out a rescue mission on the off-cha🍸nce that he found some way to survive.
One week later, Caleb crash lands on a floating island near Skyhaven, bloodied and severely injured. He's taken to the hospital and, after one month, makes a miraculous full recovery. It's unclear if the unrecognized electromagnetic radiation affected his recovery in any way.
Despite surviving a harrowing ordeal, Caleb does not tell the MC about his unintended voyage into the unknown🅠 or his severe injury.
Caleb admits to one of his fellow DAA students that while he was adrift in the cold dark of the Tunnel for days, he eventually chose to give up and accept his inevitable death by turning off his rescue beacon.
He also admits that even though he had given up, he was deeply terrified of dying and being separated from the MC. Once he ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚis disꦡcharged from the hospital, Caleb returns home early, intending to surprise the MC.
Despite being glad to have survived, Caleb suffers from dissociative amnesia and recurrent nightmares. He was put on prescription painkillers and sedatives. It is implied that Caleb stopped taking these medications as there was a risk of dependency. Caleb's dreams and amnesia worsened after returning home.
Dissociative amnesia is a type of amnesia that causes memory loss and may make a person forget personal information and events. This type of amnesia is sometimes the result of a traumatic experience.
Since Caleb completed his final flight assessment, he did not officially graduate from the Academy. He was listed as a secondary candidate who would graduate upon retaking and passing his final flight exam. He never told his family.
Rather than take his flight exam a second time, Caleb submitted a transfer request to another organization. Though not explicitly stated, it is assumed that he transferred to the Farspace Fleet. He no longer believed that being aꦬ Deepspace Pilot wa🔯s his true path.
No one knows what Caleb really experienced in tওhe Dꦅeepspace Tunnel.
Main Story
Caleb first enters the main story in 'Family,' Episode One of Chapter Four, when he contacts the MC, letting her know that he is coming home. He then surprises her by showing up a day early for a family dinner with their Gran.
When the MC's hunter watch goes off at the dinner table, alerting her of possible Wanderer activity in the area, she makes a speedy exit. Sensing something may be wrong, Caleb goes with her.
When the pair return home, Caleb enters the house while the MC waits outside. Surprising players and characters alike, an explosion destroys the house when Caleb enters, leaving nothing but the necklace the MC gave Caleb, and a smoking pile of rubble, behind.
After the explosion, Caleb and Gran are presumed dead, and the MC vows to find the villain behind♎ the attack so 𝄹that she can take her revenge.
Caleb's Evol is gravity manipulation. He uses his Evol to take the necklace from the MC's hands in a flashback.
Homecoming Wings
Caleb makes his shocking return in Homecoming Wings, his main story branch. After being dispatched to Skyhaven to investigate an explosion similar to the one that destroyed her house, the MC impersonates a Farspace Fleet ꧋soldier and infiltrates their ranks.
The MC's goal is to uncover the location of a missing boy named Kevi, whose twin sister, Mia, was badly injured in the explosion. The MC follows a strange trail of clues to the headquarters of the Farspace Fleet, where she learns that Caleb is alive and is now Colonel of the Fleet.
Caleb may have already joined the Fleet before returning in Homecoming Wings, as suggested by his Anecdote🥂 ♓story.
It becomes clear that Caleb is hiding things from the MC and that he changed a great deal from the sweet, kindhearted boy she grew up with. Now, he's a volatile, moody, ruthless Colonel who has the whole Fleet under his control.
As they spend more time together, Caleb reveals that after the explosion, he was saved and joined the Farspace Fleet. It isn't until the end of Homecoming Wings that this truth is reveale🌟d.
Caleb was saved by a man named Professor Lucius. The Professor is a scientist who has been modifying members of the Farspace Fleet and experimenting on humans. His experiments resulted in the unintended transformation of humans into power-thirsty Wanderers.
Caleb's personality has made a complete 180 since the MC last saw him. As she conducts her secret investigation into the dark secrets of the Farspace Fleet, she learns that each Fleet soldier has been modified with a device known as the Toring Chip.
The Toring Chip is a mind-altering device that can suppress, override, and erase whole parts of a person's memories and personality. It is also sometimes referred to as the 'Mind-Control' chip.
People affected by the Toring Chip are called Monsters by non-altered members of the Farspace Fleet, particularly the Fleet soldiers who refused the Chip. The MC assumes that Caleb's personality change is the result of a Toring Chip.
However, when she confronts him about it, the two have a serious argument where Caleb insists that he has always been a gloomy, possessive person underneath the surface and that the Chip did not alter him, because he no longer feels the need to hide that deep part of himself.
By the end of the story, the MC forgives Caleb, opting to overlook his behavioral changes because he is the most important person in her life, and she doesn't want to lose him.
However, what the MC doesn't know is that Caleb is not just a member of the Farspace Fleet, but is also associated with the organization known as Ever, which has a connection to the experiments that the MC was subjected to as a child.
Caleb has been tasked with infiltrating the Farspace Fleet at the orders of Professor Lucius and an unidentified, high-ranking member of Ever. It's revealed that Ever has been looking for the 'escaped child' they experimented on years ago and that Caleb has been tasked with finding her.
The escaped child is most likely the MC, whom 𝔍Caleb has dedicated his entire life to protecting and whom he ♛is currently keeping out of Ever's reach.
While it's unclear what Ever wants with the MC, the story suggests that Caleb was modified to become a tool specifically designed to destroy her. At the end of the chapter, Professor Lucius's inner monologue explains that eventually, Caleb's entire neural network will be replaced, making him an unfeeling weapon.
The very last image of the chapter is a poem warning two lost lovers from drinking from the Fountain of Atei — oneꦫ of the mysterious entities Ever is in search of.
Caleb's Arm
In 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Caleb: Painful Signal, Caleb finally admits to the MC that after the explosion, Professor Lucius offered to save his life in exchange for letting him modify Caleb's body. The result was that the bones and muscles in Caleb's right arm were replaced with cold, unfeeling machinery.
Somehow, Caleb's arm appears to be normal to others. It's unclear if this is due to illusion technology or if his arm is covered in synthetic skin. When Caleb received his bionic arm, other alterations were made to his body, including the implantation of a Toring Chip.
Most people who have a Toring Chip lose all or some of their memories and personalities. Caleb's Adjutant, Liam, lost all memory of his wife except for one memory of the moment they parted.
Caleb confesses to the MC that he no longer has sensation in his right arm and can only feel pain there, specifically when it is being repaired, modified, or when the program is overridden. He mourns his inability to feel the MC with that arm.
Caleb's Myth - Lucid Dreams
The full extent of the Toring Chip's abilities is revealed in Caleb's permanent Myth story, Lucid Dreams. The Myth takes place months after the events of Homecoming Wings.
In the Myth, the MC is dispatched to Skyhaven to oversee the medical evaluations of new Fleet members. The MC is tasked with assessing the risk of each soldier becoming a Wanderer or being affected by Protocore Syndrome.
The Farspace Fleet, under Colonel Caleb's leadership, has assumed control of the Tuum Fleet and all Tuum Fleet members must assimilate into the Farspace Fleet. The MC must inspect each one before undergoing a separate Fleet-mandated medical exam.
After careful investigation, the MC learns that the Hunter evaluations were a front for a larger, more sinister operation. The subsequent Medical Exam after the MC's evaluation included a procedure where all Fleet members must opt to have a Toring Chip implanted in their body.
Later, the MC steals an implantation device from Caleb's office.
The MC confronts Caleb and realizes that all the soldiers who refused the Chip were sent away and 'disposed of.' Realizing that Caleb's new control over the Tuum Fleet puts him at risk of assassination, she tries to protect him.
Frustrated that she doesn't understand the full extent of what the Chip is doing to Caleb's mind and body, she implants herself w🐠ith the Toring Chip she confiscated from 📖his office.
Shortly afterward, the MC and Caleb argue on the street. Caleb collapses after an extreme emotional response to their argument triggers the Toring Chip and erases his memories of her.
The MC, whose personality is affected by the Toring Chip, tells Caleb that she's the most important person in his life and recreates moments from their childhood while his memory is incomplete. Eventually, Caleb comes to his senses and realizes that the MC has injected a 🔥Chip into her arm.
Frantic, Caleb orders a surgical procedure to remove the Torin🍬g Chip from her body before it can do irr💦eversible damage.
While the MC is under the influence of the Toring Chip, she exhibits similarly overprotective and possessive behavior to Caleb's. This may be proof that despite Caleb's insistence, the Toring Chip fundamentally changes a person's personality.
At the very end of the Myth, Professor Lucius examines Caleb to see if he is still under the full control of the Toring Chip. However, while the Chip still controls his bionic arm, it no longer has access to Caleb's memories. Caleb has sealed part of his brain from the Chip's influence.
The Professor and his Enforcer realize that Caleb's brain is absorbing and dismantling the Chip's patrol protocol as if it were being sucked into a black hole. Desperate to erase Caleb's free will, the Professor orders his Enforcer to find another way into that part of Caleb's brain.
The very last lines of the Myth suggest that such a way exists, but not what it is.
Work Life
Caleb was once a Deepspace Pilot in training, but after an accident in the Deepspace Tunnel, he chose not to graduate. Caleb is secretive about his work life but admits to the MC that he has completed missions within the mysterious Deepspace Tunnel. All other details about his work are classified.
Caleb joined the Farspace Fleet at some point after his accident in the Tunnel, but the exact moment is unclear. Shortly after joining the Fleet, Caleb was promoted to Colonel, replacing an already well-respected officer.
Caleb was planted in the Farspace Fleet as part of Professor Lucius and Ever's plan to infiltrate the Farspace Fleet using the Toring Chip.
Personality
Growing up, Caleb was the popular kid on the block and, during his time at the Academy, he was even compared to t𓆏he Sun, drawing others into his orbit with the gravitational pull of his infectious personality.
Caleb was a kindhearted young man who served as the MC's main protector. He had a strong sense of justice and frequently got the MC out of (and into) trouble.
However, after the explosion that killed his Gran, Caleb's personality took a turn. His protective nature became more obsessive and possessive than before, making him the game's first yandere love interest.
A yandere character is a character who is loving, gentle, and kind to their lover, but who will not hesitate to maintain or protect their relationship using obsessive, possessive, and sometimes violent methods.
Caleb has an easy-going rapport with the MC after years of living together.
The MC has expressed that she loves Caleb's cooking, so much so that Gran said she would make him cook for the MC every day when he comes home. Caleb dislikes cilantro but loves apple🌟s and apple-flavored foods like apple syrup and soda.
Caleb's other hobbies include piloting aircraft and fixing machinery. Caleb has a strong understanding of mechanics and can often be found building, repairing, or tinkering with robots🔯 and machiꦆnery.
