Amazon flexed its enormous financial budget and developed a magically gorgeous show in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Rings of Power. Inspired by the classic J.R.R. Tolkien novels, The Rings of Power focuses on a differe﷽nt Middle-earth that wasn’t🀅 depicted in Peter Jackson’s films. The show is set in Middle-earth’s Second Age, long before the adventures of Frodo Baggins took place in the Third Age.
Eagle-eyed fans will quickly question why someone like Isildur is milling about when he wasn’t born for another thousand years in the books, and that’s because The Rings of Power condenses much of the Secon🍌d Age. The condensed timeline displays events and characters at a quickened pace, but ultimately, still follows the blueprint of Tolkien’s design. We break down everything that transpired in the 🥂first season of The Rings of Power, how they compare to Tolkien’s work, and what we can expect in the future.
The following post contains spoilers for Amazon's The Rings of Power. Please do not continue reading unless you've finished watching the first season.
Dawn Of The Second Age
Before Sauron, there was Morgoth. Originally known as Melkor, Morgoth was Middle-earth’s first Dark Lord and was the second most powerful Ainur. The Ainur were holy, powerful beings created by Eru, the all-powerful deity who was responsible for creating Middle-earth. Eru tasked the Ainur with shaping Middle-earth and building the world. The Second Age began with the banishment of Morgoth by the other fourteen Ainur, the Valar. They vanquished Morgoth and s꧃ent him to the Void, a space beyond the current plane of reality.
After Morgoth was defeated, Elves and Dwarves were the ones who primarily rebuilt Middle-earth in the early days of the Second Age, but The Rings of Power shows more of a balance with Hobbits and Humans too. A major adjustment by Amazon was including other species in the show, instead of simply having a cast full of Elves. However, The Rings of Power does showcase some Humans who despise Elves, and that resentment will be the s𓄧eed for Sauron’s evil to grow.
Rise Of Sauron
The first season was divided into four main plots: Galadriel’s search for Sauron, Elrond's task with finding a way for Elves to survive, the Harfoots encountering the Stranger, and Humans defending their lands against Orcs. All of these plot points occurred throughout the 3,441 years of the Second Age, bu🐼t are more smushed together in The Rings of Power.
The Second Age ends with Sauron’s defeat and Isildur cutting the One Ring from his hand. Although Isildur was born in 3209, which is well after the One Ring was created and the war against Sauron already well underway, Isildur is already present in The Rings of Power before Sauron established his territory in Mordor.
As we witness Sauron’s gradual rise to power, we also see the early makings of his loyal Ringwraiths. Theo and Waldreg are suggested to be two of the nine men who will eventually become corrupted by Sauron. With the season closing with the fir♛st rings being created, it’s safe to assume we’ll see more Ringwraiths in the future.
In Tolkien’s books, Sauron persuaded the King of Numenor to attack the Undying Lands, which resulted in the island being destroyed by Eru. Seeing that Sauron already made an impression on Numenor bꦫefore returning to Midꦇdle-earth, the destruction of Numenor appears on the horizon.
Arrival Of Wizards
According to Tolkien’s books, Wizards didn’t appear in Middle-earth until about 1,000 years i🍰nto the Third Age. In other words, Wizards like Gandalf and Saruman wꦗeren’t around when Sauron was defeated. However, it’s clear that the Stranger is the beloved Gandalf after to end the season.
The Rings of Power once again condensed the events of the Second and Third Ages by showing the Stranger land in Middle-earth. He befriended the Harfoots after being found by Nori, and her kindness is why Gandalf cherishes Hobbits. While the Amazon show altered when Wizards arrived in Middle-earth, it remains to be seen if they will play a prominent role in the ensuing fight against Sauron, or remain sidelined like the 𒁃books until the Th🎉ird Age.
