168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Lollipop Chainsaw 2 is in the works! Well, kinda. Considering the circumstances behind this announcement and the polarising reception to last year’s remaster, I’d slow your excitement for now. According to developer Dragami Games, the sequel will bring together members of the original development team, although there is no mention of high-profile creators James Gunn or Suda51, both of which were instrumental in the creation of the🍌 cult classic.

Dragami has also announced that an anime adaptation is in production, and will be worked on alongs🍸ide the upcoming sequel.

On top of that, the press release also promises that Lollipop Chainsaw 2, in whichever form it ends up taking, will stay “true to the distinctive tone and spirit of the original work, without imposing excessive creative restrictions in the name of DEI.” This is a massive red flag and, at least to me, makes it clear that Dragami Games does not understand the cultural impact of the property itᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ⁤⁤⁤⁤ᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ is striving to revive, not to mention its appealing to the wrong audience by drawing a needless political line in the sand like this.

Lollipop Chainsaw 2 Doesn’t Need To Start A War Against DEI

While Lollipop Chainsaw is a pretty raunchy experience, especially back in 2012 when it first launched for the PS3 and Xbox 360, it is also abundantly self-aw൲are of its own identity. Juliet Starling is a sexually confident cheerleader in a short skirt, 🗹with a large chest and a spunky and lighthearted attitude, which she uses to dominate every single scene she’s in.

All the while, her boyfriend Nick’s disembodied head hangs from her belt as he cracks jokes 𒆙and comes to accept how useless he is in most situations. It’s a wonderful subversion of hero and heroine packed into a short and sweet hack ‘n’ slash adventure that has gone down in history for good reason.

Aside from the signature attitude and aesthetic we’ve come to expect from Suda51 and the likes of Killer7, No More Heroes✅, and Shadows of The Damned; I don’t think Lollipop set out to make any sort of statement. If anything, it just wanted to have fun, with James Gunn being the perfect writing talent to help bring this vision to life.

, while the sharp humour we’ve seen in his work, both past and present, is all over Lollipop Chainsaw. If he or Suda51 aren’t involved in the sequel, it’s hard to imagine it be🥃ing anything more than a shallow imitator. The original game was a perfect mixture of strong characters and a slew of well-chosen licensed songs that helped bring its colourful visuals and themes to life. It was experimental, managing to earn a cult following in spite of its underwhelming gameplay mech꧒anics.

Dragami Games Doesn’t Understand What Makes Lollipop Chainsaw So Special

Suda51 and James Gunn are also incredibly progressive creatives in their own right. Gunn is responsible for directing this year’s Superman, which is a clear love letter to🐈 superheroes not afraid to stand up for what is goo🔯d, putting themselves in harm’s way, whether it’s to save the local wildlife or spare entire countries from conflict.

Superman will do the right thing, regardless of the consequences it has for hi🦄m, and Gunn holds himself to the same standard, evidenced by the fact the two fictional countries at war within the film are clear analogues of Israel and Palestine. Gunn has always stood for progressive themes and characters in his work, Lollipop Chainsaw included, and was aware of the role 🦋a heroine like Juliet Starling would come to play. He wasn’t doing it for the upskirt shorts.

For years, Suda51 has shined a spotlight on female characters, POC characters, and so often sought to subvert 🧔the role of male protagonists in virtual 🔥worlds. He’s not the type of person to turn his nose up at DEI practices. If anything, I bet he’d embrace them.

Besides, what does Dragami Games mean when it promises to stick with the original’s tone and not bow down to DEI? I have to assume it refers to the risqué fanservice provided by a character like Juliet, whose butt and boobs are on display whenever the player pleases. It’s also potentially talking about foul language, bloody violence, and potential themes the story might explore. But in a world where games like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Stellar Blade exist and can sell millions and millions of copies with a protagonist like E♒ve who is designed for the male gaze with skimpy outfits that would make even the most ha𒀰rdened of basement dwellers blush, what exactly is Dragami doing here, aside from courting a knowingly 💜toxic audience?

After the underwhelming reception of RePOP, a remaster which was slammed for removing licensed music, missing its planned release date, and all-in-all feeling like a lousy product, I have little confidence in a potential sequel. Declaring war on DEI for a game like this is also a fundamental misunderstanding of the original game’s daring intentions and why it was such a cl𝄹assic in the first place. Now, the fans who would have fought with it are walking away as it’s been made clear we aren’t welcome. Nice one, Dragami.
