There are a myriad of minigames in the bustling streets oꦺf Sotenbori.
Shogi is also defined as Japanese Chess, and the Shogi Puzzle's objective is to checkmate your opponent in one or two steps, depending on the stage. Chess can be hard to understand, and Shogi isn't much better, so if you want to solve all Shogi Puzzles without studying the game, here's how.
Where To Play Shogi
You can play Shogi pretty near Akane's Hideout. You just have to leave the hideout and walk until you see a hall on the left. You'll easily see the man who invites you to play after that.
Basic Rules Of Shogi
You don't need to understand how to play Shogi to do the puzzles, but it's important to define some things to understand which piece to move and where to do it.
When you start playing Shogi, you'll see two types of pieces. There are inverted pieces (your opponent's pieces) and straight pieces (yours). They all have letters except for a central one with an inverted crown. That's your opponent's king piece; the game's objective is to checkmate it.
Lastly, whenever you start a Puzzle Shogi, the game will ask you if you want to use Take Backs and if you want to play under a play limit. Keep both as they are initially set, as you won't need Take Backs, and the puzzles won't take more than 30 seconds each.
How To Solve The Puzzle Shogi One
For the first Puzzle Shogi, you must move your 'G' piece to put it underneath your opponent's king. That's enough to checkmate it.
How To Solve The Puzzle Shogi Two
In the second Puzzle Shogi, you must use the piece you have outside the board. That one is an 'S' piece; you must put it to the right of your opponent's P' piece, which is over your opponent's King. Doing that will be enough to checkmate the King.
How To Solve The Puzzle Shogi Three
For this puzzle, you'll see that one of your 'S' pieces is next to your opponent's King. Move it underneath the King, and you'll complete the puzzle.
How To Solve The Puzzle Shogi Four
We continue with the one-step puzzle solutions, and for this puzzle, you must move your 'B' piece and put it underneath your opponent's King. After that, the game will ask you if you want to promote that piece. Accept the promotion, and you'll solve the puzzle.
How To Solve The Puzzle Shogi Five
In this puzzle, you'll have three 'P' pieces attacking your opponent's King, but that's not enough to checkmate it. So, move your 'K' piece inside the circle formed by your 'P' pieces and your opponent's King to complete the puzzle.
How To Solve The Puzzle Shogi Six
From now on, all puzzles will require two moves to beat them.
For this puzzle, you must move your 'K' piece that you have outside the board and put it to the left of your 'G' piece. Your opponent will move th꧒e King a 🌳step back, leaving a free space.
That's when you must move your Promoted 'P' piece, your upmost piece in the board, to the left of your opponent's King piece. Doing that will complete the puzzle.
You'll know when you have a Promoted Piece when there's a star next to the piece's letter.
How To Solve The Puzzle Shogi Seven
For this puzzle, the first step involves moving your higher 'S' piece above your 'P' piece. After doing that, your opponent will move their King. Here's when you have to move your lower 'S' piece and put it underneath your opponent's King to complete the puzzle.
How To Solve The Puzzle Shogi Eight
For this puzzle, move your 'G' Piece a step to the right so it's next to your opponent's King. They'll move the King a step back, so you must use the 'R' Piece outside the board and place it to the left of the King. This will complete the puzzle.
How To Solve The Puzzle Shogi Nine
In this puzzle, your first step must be moving the 'S' piece you have at the top of the board and placing it on your opponent's 'G' piece that is next to your 'S' Piece. Doing so will let you Promote that piece, but in this case, you must reject the promotion.
The King will move a step to the right, so you must use your 'G' piece outside the board and place it underneath the King. This will be enough to solve the puzzle.
How To Solve The Puzzle Shogi Ten
For this last puzzle, the first step involves moving your 'K' piece outside the board towards the half circle formed by upside-down 'P' pieces on the right side of the board.
Your opponent will move the King to block the 'K' piece you placed, so to checkmate it, move your 'S' piece next to the King a step-up, and don't promote it. That will be enough to complete the puzzle.
