If you are still getting used to the Perfect Guard, we recommend aiming for the Perfect Guard, but then holding the block button down if you miss time your Perfect Guard so that you will at least be able to block his attack normally. Some people may try tapping rapidly, and while that is more likely to get a Perfect Guard, it is also more likely to get you hit.
A number of Mad Donkey's attacks are vertical swings. As you fight Mad Donkey, just slowly circle him, this will cause most of those vertical hacks to completely miss. Put a pin in that bit of advice, as we are goinജg to come back to it a little later.
Furious Attack
His Furious Attack is a three-hit combo. He will pause for a second before hopping forward and performing a quick horizontal slash followed by a quick vertical slash. The backstab does a ton of damage on its own but remember to hit Mad Donkey as they rise, as you can pile on even more damage.
As you strafe around him, make sure to keep guarding whenever he takes a horizontal swipe, as these attacks will sometimes clip you even if you are mostly facing his back. There is no need to be desperate.
Since a backstab will recover a considerable amount of recoverable health, feel free to primarily utilize the standard guard here. Especially since it can be hard to time those attacks that just barely hit you.
When you see him start to glow, hold that dodge button and run away. There is no reason to stick around. Get some distance and then heal up with a Pulse Cell and repair your weapon with a grindstone. If you are in pretty good shape, still relatively close by, as Mad Donkey will be a🍰 sitting duck after missing the final attack in that Furious Attack sequence.
