168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Lies of P is a more narrative-driven Soulslike game that does justice 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:to the formula FromSoftware perfected, and it also adapts the story of Pinocchio. That said, there are bound to be questions you're left with by the end of the story since some aspects from Carlo Collodi's The Adventures of Pinocchio are shifted around, or maybe you just have some thoughts on where things go next.
Neowiz's vision of a Pinocchio Soulslike hardly offers the fairytale conclusion you're used to with past Pinocchio adaptations. There are many uncertainties, shocking twists and reveals, and things that will definitely require more reflection long after the credits roll. The following might be some of those.
Beware some major spoilers for Lies of P's story below.
11 ღꦫ Who Is The Enigmatic Paracelsus?
Lies of P has a post-credits scene that introduces a new character not mentioned in the main story, aside from his name appearing on the Uroboros's Eye weapon 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:you can acquire from Alidoro. You don't see his face, but he's sitting in a train car taking a phone call with another unknown female voice, and it becomes clear that they were the ones behind the so-called "Krat experiment." You do, however, get his name – Paracelsus.
It seems like developer Neowiz is introducing an actual historical figure into the dark fantasy narrative with an immortality twist. Paracelsus was a 16th-century Swiss physician and alchemist credited with being the father of chemistry and toxicology, alive from 1493-1541. Well, Lies of P is set in the Belle Epoque era, which was approximately 1871-1914, so that would make him around 400 years old. It sounds like Simon Manus wasn't pulling the strings after all.
10 Are We Going To Oz Or S﷽taying In Krat? 💮
The other exciting and pressing question probably on everyone's mind from the post-credit scene: Are we off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz? Because that conversation between Paracelsus and his associate concluded with him promising to find another key toward their goal of eternal life before the next meeting of Alchemists, which is none other than Dorothy.
This jaw-dropping reveal is immediately followed by an unexpected teaser of Dorothy walking along a rooftop in Krat wearing her ruby slippers before tapping the heel three times and the scene fading to black. Is Dorothy teleporting back home to Kansas or traveling to Neowiz's grim reimagining of Oz? Hopefully, it's not too long of a wait to find out.
9 ൩ Why𝓰 Was Geppetto The Villain In The Story?
Geppetto was a sweet old man who loved Pinocchio and cherished him like a son, and in other movie adaptations, he grieved the loss of a son and found his heart again with Pinocchio. Geppetto turned out to be the complete opposite by the end of Lies of P's story. He was an evil, selfish, and manipulative man who would end Pinocchio's life and have his revived son carry out murder.
Geppetto deceives Pinocchio about turning him human with the Ergo you bring from Manus' defeat, instead needing your heart to bring his son back to life. And if you refuse, he has complete hatred towards you and makes you fight the Nameless Puppet boss. While it further accomplishes the darker twist on Pinocchio's story, it doesn't stay faithful to Geppetto's character in the book.
8 Where Was The Terrible Dogfish? 𒊎
There are many references from Collodi's The Adventures of Pinocchio to be found throughout the story, but one that appears missing is the Terrible Dogfish that swallows Geppetto's boat and gets him separated from Pinocchio for a good chunk of the story. The Disney movie included this character as Monstro, a giant sperm whale, and the 2022 del Toro version featured a more hideous lore-accurate creature.
While there is that giant submarine vessel taking Pinocchio to the Isle of Alchemists that shoots out of the water like Monstro and has shark-like teeth, its design does give off more like it's a shark submarine. There could've been a perfect opportunity for an optional boss along the shore or at sea to incorporate the Terrible Dogfish, similar to the Green Monster of the Swamp.
7 Why Is The Best Ending To Pinocchio's Story Earned By Lying?
Arguably the most beautiful and satisfying ending you can get in the game is called 'Rise of P.' In this ending, Geppetto still makes you face the Nameless Puppet when you refuse to give over Pinocchio's heart but will realize his terrible mistake and get cut down by the boss for you to die in P's arms, calling him son and saying he's sorry. Pinocchio will then later sacrifice his soul and give it to the doll form of Sophia and pass away in her arms.
It's a more hopeful, poignant, and the least dark ending Lies of P has to offer, but obtaining it seems counterintuitive. You can never tell the truth with your character and must lie at every decision point you encounter. The moral of the story is that lying is bad and for Pinocchio to be truthful from thereon, but Lies of P's adaptation apparently says otherwise.
6 ꦺ Willﷺ Sophia Return?
This may be a bit trickier of a question to answer since you have three very different endings. If you do get the Rise of P ending, Sophia is now a doll with the blue butterfly essence inside, keeping her alive. But if you don't receive this ending, her Fairy form is most likely dead because she was already on her deathbed in Simon Manus' castle from the Ergo mutation, or you chose to "give her peace."
Though that is Sophia's own Ergo Pinocchio transfers to the doll version of her to make her come to life. So Pinocchio must be alive at the end and have made the choice to "give her peace" for her doll form to exist. This new version of Sophia would be a great character 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:to play in a DLC or potentially for her to show up in the continuation of Dorothy's story.
5 Why Does Carlo Need Pinocchio's Heart?
The 'Real Boy' ending, on the other hand, begs many more questions. This is the one where you do give up your heart to Geppetto, and he is reunited with his son Carlo. But why would a human need a doll's heart to survive in the first place? This was also alluded to before the boss fight with the King of Puppets in the Opera House.
There was a puppet demonstration of Geppetto removing Pinocchio's heart and transferring it to a new doll that gets up and feels revived, precisely foreshadowing this exact moment and Geppetto's nefarious motives. Does that mean Carlo is also a doll? And why were Carlo and the Nameless Puppet taken out of the same trunk?
4 What Was Pinocchio's Body Doing In Krat Central Station?
The story of Pinocchio always starts with him in Geppetto's workstation in his home, never too far away or out of sight from the doll maker. Lies of P changes things drastically with Pinocchio sitting alone in a train car at Krat Central Station before being brought to life by the Blue Fairy.
There is Gemini the cricket guide just straight ahead, but Geppetto doesn't turn up until you're well into the game. You would expect Pinocchio at least to be inside some doll factory or workshop instead of a train station, as there's not much context or greater significance other than it being an atmospheric starting area. Was he created on the train? Who put him there with all the Puppet Frenzy?
3 Is ♏The Puppet Language Even Readable At All?
Perhaps you had this one as well. The most frustrating thing next to dying over and over 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:to the diffಞicult bosses Lies of P throws at you is deciphering what they're saying to you in combat. Not only do they speak in their distorted puppet speech, but the subtitles are hard to make out and may not even seem English at first.
It turns out that the subtitles are in English, but are just very scrambled and nearly indecipherable on purpose as a stylistic design choice. To read it, you may have to go back and find a video to pause and squint very hard or find a translation somewhere online. Some of the information could be very critical to the story, as in the case of Romeo, and you'll completely miss it during the battle.
2 Why Wasn't Petrification Disease As Original As The Rest Of The Game?
Discovering the lore behind blue Ergo and the Petrification Disease leading to the ruin of Krat was a highlight everyone looked forward to. However, it turned out that the twist didn't bring much payoff or originality but turned into another cliché plot point that copied the storyline of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Callisto Protocol and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Resident Evil.
As the boss Champion Victor alludes to in his intro and Simon Manus further elaborates in a speech after the fight, all these Ergo-mutated beings around Krat are experiments to advance human evolution and gain a strengthened body to become a mightier form of yourself. It's the same argument Warden Cole used in The Callisto Protocol to justify the Biophages. Why wasn't there more uniqueness to the explanation when the entire game concept is so original?
