Do you reckon Link ever gets hungry? Not so much these days, as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Breath of the Wild let him fill his belly with Mighty Bananas and delicious kebabs every time he needed healing, but before he made his way onto the Switch? A good meal✨ was hard to come by.

The history of food in Zelda games is brief. There is the substance known only as Food in the original The Legend of Zelda, the artwork of which looks like mystery meat served on the bone. A Link To The Pa𓆏st had apples, which you could knock out of trees by rolling into them. Other than that… Link was scranless. No hearty breakfasts to prepare for his adventures, no long-journey snacks to keep his energy up, and no Henry VIII-esque victory banquets when he rescues Zelda and saves the day.

That all changed in Breath of the Wild. Link no longer found health-restoring hearts hiding within pots and beneath long grass, and instead was given a large cauldron and armfuls of ingredients before being told to learn how to cook. His hastily-learned repertoire gleaned from the recipe books of Hyrule Castle mostly consists of mushroom skewers and hearty stews of durian and radish, but it must be a revolution to his deprived taste buds. Link’s expanding culinary portfolio grows from the basics of Steamed Meat and Tough Omelet, to Michelin-starred dishes as disparate as a creamy Salmon Risotto and Glazed Mushrooms lathered with honey and heaped with generous 🐭shavings of truffle.

Link cooks some food outside of house on a sunny day

I’m getting hungry just writing about it, but Link’s palette had one thing missing: dairy. I don’t know if a century of sleep will do something to your bowels that renders you lactose intolerant or if Hyrule just had a distinct lack of cows post-Calamity, but Link was deprived the delights of milk and cheese for the entire𓂃 game. There are just two recipes in Breath of the Wild that use Fresh Milk, showing just how rar🌟e a commodity it is in Hyrule, and a Cream Soup just doesn’t hit the spot like a paneer curry, baked camembert, or delicious khachapuri. Just think about how much better his dishes would be if he simply chucked in a thick slice of butter while it all cooked down and simmered away? That Salmon Risotto with no Parmesan? I take back that Michelin star.

I’m glad to say that Link has improved himself in the time between Breath of the Wild and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Tears of the Kingdom. His downtime between apocalypses has been spent rebuilding farmland and helping ꦓHyrule’s cattle farmers get back on their feet. Milk is far less scarce, but the people sꦓtill don’t know what cheese is.

Tears of the Kingdom Hateno Cheese Feature

It turns out that someone in Hateno Village knows how to make cheese. Or rather, her great-grandfather did, but decided that the world wasn’t ready for that just yet – this is a kingdom that has dealt with multiple world-ending catastrophes, by the way &ndash൩; and everybody just kinda forgot about it. I can’t imagine ﷽someone giving me a whiff of Stilton and simply moving on with my life, but maybe the people of Hyrule have more important things on their minds.

Koyin, the descendent of the inventor of cheese in Hyrule, sends you on a quest to recover the long-lost recipe, a mission arguably more important than that to save Zelda and defeat Ganondorf. At the end of it, she reinvents cheese, and Link can trade her milk for her Ha൲teno cheddar, or buy it in general stores. And Link immediately makes the best decision of his culinary career, and possibly of his life: he makes a pizza.

I can imagine him now, Link kneading his Tabantha Wheat into a stretchy dough. Leaving it to prov🍒e in the warm shade of a nearby tree as he preps his pa🔯ssata, made from fresh Hylian Tomatoes harvested from the vine. A judicious application of Hateno Cheese et voila. I’m amazed Link can conjure this all up in a simple cooking pot, but the result looks like it’s fresh out of a Neapolitan pizza oven.

He learns new recipes, adding spicy peppers or a variety of seafood to grant himself different buffs and introduce new flavours to the people of Hyrule. Link’s Pizzeria will be a roaring success once he’s saved the world yet again, and it’s all thanks to his rediscovery of cheese, and the reintroduction of dairy to his diet. I’m glad Link has discovered pizza, and in doing so has filled his stomach with hot, cheesy, tomatoey goodness and saved Hyrule’s destitute food scene from u🌌tter despair.
