Kunitsu-Gami director Shuichi Kawata and producer Yos😼hiaki Hirabayashi explain how their affection for Shinto history shaped the game

One of Soh's many helpful features is the various Tsuba Guards they can equip to their sword. These can range from dealing damage to reviving villa🎶gers and everything in between. They're incredibly v𝕴ersatile, and we're going to show you where to find each and every one of them.

Every Tsuba Guard And What It Does

Across the entirety of Kunitsu-Gami, there are 12 Tsuba Guards to find. While you'll come across a healthy handful of them on your first playthrough, for many of 🦹them you'll likely have to revisit missions to complete some extra objectives if you want to get your hands on all of them.

To start off with, we've every Tsuba Guard li🙈sted be🌺low alongside their functions.

Tsuba Guard

What It Does

Suzaku's Flame

Deals middling damage and decent Resist Gauge depletion in two hits while recharging relatively quickly.

Rikugo's Favor

Increases the attack power and movement speed of Villagers within 🌳range of the abi🔜lity when activated.

Byakko's Claws

Perform a forward dash that has Soh attack with their sword followed by another powerful slash in their wake. Very powerful but slow to recharge.

Tenku's Wings

Allows Soh to leap into the air from wherever they are, immediately landing beside Yoshiro. This damages🌱 enemies𓄧 both on the takeoff and landing.

Toda's Snare

Places a trap on the ground that explodes when an enemy walks near it. Up to three can be placed at a time, with new placements replacing the oldest trap.

Kochin's Ward

Creates a barrier around where Soh is standing that enemies and projectiles cannot enter. Also damages enemies that touch it. Can also be used to push 🐻away enemies around Soh

Genbu's Might

Perform a powerful slam attack that ripples outwards from Soh. ♛It cannot hit flying enemies, but does massive damage to the Resist Gauge.

Seiryu's Gale

Soh thrusts their sword into the air, summoning a storm above them. This is mainly useful against hordes of flying enemies, though can still be very effective against tall enemies.

Taijo's Favor

This buffs all Villagers, giving them extra damage resistance and preventing knockback. There is no range limit to this ability.

Kijin's Specter

This summons a clone of Soh that copies all of their moves. They will target any enemy yဣou lock onto, and can be 💯recalled to your side by pressing the interact button while blocking.

Tenko's Sacrifice

Soh gives up their life to fully heal all Villagers and purify cocooned ones within a certain range around them. S﷽oh will enter the Spirit State as a result of this movꦺe.

Taion's Lightning

Soh will generate a storm around them, sending out powerful shockwaves in a small radius around them before unleashing a massive vertical slash that cleaves across the entire map.

Kijin's Specter also has a hidden feature - even when Soh is in the Spirit State, their clone can still be controlled to perform attacks and move around.

Across all 12 Tsuba Guards, six of them are about dealing damage while the other six are focused on utility. That said, all of them can be used in unique ways ꦿto suit the scenario.

How To Unlock Each Tsuba Guard

Of the 12 Tsuba Guards, only one of them is actually given to you as part of the story, while all the rest must be unlocked through gameplay. You're likely to come across many of them naturally but read 🍃on to discover the exact means 𓃲of acquiring all of them.

Each Tsuba guard is listed in the chronological order in which they are unlocked, so ಌyou can safely scroll as far as you've progressed in the game.

Kochin's Ward is not acquired in a mission, but instead from base repairs. Specifically, it is gained from completing all repairs in Enri Village, the fourth location in the game.

It may take some time to com𓃲plete all repairs, so you may not acquire it until after you complete Okumiyama Passage.

Taijo's Favor - Moegi Ridge Shrine Reward

Taijo's Favor is acquired from Moegi Ridge, the sixth mission in the game. It requires purging all ten defilements in the second section of the mission and then picking it up from the shrine.

The shrine itself is located halfway towards the main Torii gate, right beside the Chozusha Basin.

Byakko's Claws is the reward for completing the first optional objective of Adashino Village, the eighth mission in the game. This objective is to dispel the enhancements on ten Seethe at the same time.

The best method for this is to place a Sumo by the Taiko Drum, and t▨hen activate it once at least ten enhanced Seethe surround them.

Seiryu's Gale, like Kochin's Ward, is acquired after completing all base repairs in Kamakura Shrine, the eleventh location in the game. There's quite a bi🐠t to repair here, so it may take upwaꦅrds of three missions before you can have all repairs completed.

It is recommended to take the left route in the mission as it has more wide open spac𝓡es, making🌠 it easier to track where enemies are coming from.

Sumo Wrestlers work great here, as they will draw all aggro away from Yoshiro if they are within range of her.

This move is used by pressing the Dance Attack button on enemies with a large red circle on them, which appears after depleting their Resist Gauge. You must first acquire the ability for ♔Soh.

Charged Dance Attacks are the best means of depleting the Resist Gauge without causing enough to kill the enemy be💎fore they are stunned.

How To Equip Multiple Tsuba Guards

The upgrade menu for Soh in Kunitsu-Gami path of the goddess highlighting the Tsuba Guard slot increase 2 ability.

Once you are given Suzaku's Flame by Yoshiro, you may equip it immediately, yet you will notice two padlocks on the rope on which you equip it, with seemingly no means of unlocking them. They can be removed after defeating Batsu, the boss of Moegi Ridge.

After defeating Batsu, you gain the ability to upgrade Soh. One of these abilities is to unlockꦯ more Tsuba Guard slots, found in the♉ Command Screen abilities section.

Removing the initial lock requires only ten Musubi. To remove the second, however, needs a rather sizeable 50 Musubi. The utility afforded to you by having three Tsuba Guꦕards all at🏅 one is immense and absolutely worth the cost.

Keep in mind that although there are not enough Musubi in one playthrough to upgrade everything, you can refund any and all upgrades for free as many times as you w♊ant.
