Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess is a Tower Defenc🐬e game at its heart. To its credit though, it has quite the competent combat system, and they would be remiss not to throw i♚n some boss battles every now and then to let that system shine. And the game has plenty of boss battles.

Kunitsu-Gami: Pat🥂h Of The Goddess is hard to describe but easy to l𝔍ove.
In the later stages of the game, you will battle Raikobo, a menacing Seethe with mastery over lightning and a glaive that strikes with the ferocity of a thunderbolt. They're a challenging battle even this late into the game, beating them will require quick reactions, Villager coordination, an♋d just a little bit of advice from this guide.
Recommended Soh And Villager Set-Up Against Raikobo
Villager Set-Up
While most bosses in the game require you to tactically command the Villagers, Raikobo needs you to think a little differently. Their attacks are wide and fast, but they can also perf🅺orm arena-wide abilities th♋at will strike where your Villagers stand.
A si𒅌mple Defense or Attack order won't be enough this time around.
You will have a maximum of 12 Villagers for this boss battle, which is quite a few against a boss that does not call summons. We would recom🍷mend you set them iꦆn the following roles:
- Two Woodcutters, and two Spearman for melee.
- Two Archers, two Marksman, and a Cannoneer for ranged.
- A Sumo Wrestler to draw aggro, an Ascetic to slow Raikobo down, and a Shaman to keep everyone healed.
You will frequently change between the Attack and Defense orders during this boss battle, so it's good to have Villagers who can still attack at range while they're by Yoshiro's side.
The Sumo Wrestler is optional as they are quite situational, though they can still effectively take aggro awaꦍy from Yoshiro in a pinch. Feel free to change them for 🍨another unit to your preference if you find them lacking.
Soh Set-Up
Soh will primarily focus on Raikobo during this boss battle and try to keep them near the 🦄end of the arena, far away from Yoshiro. As such, they'll need a build that will keep them going without 🌱requiring them to run away to recover.
Since you'll need to stay close to Raikobo, we've listed some abilities and equipment below to keep you safe without ever having to retreat.

Raikobo is quite strong, 💫though more fearsome than anything is their reach. Even when focusing on just Soh, any Villagers around Raikobo w꧂ill be easily knocked back if struck.
Their melee attacks can hit sufficiently hard, though, and there are decent delays between swings. This means Soh can quite easily perform a Perfect Guard between strikes rather than getting combo-locked.
Shiden Dance is primarily good against Raikobo themselves, though for some of their arena-wide moves, Oka Dance may work better. Swap to that if you're strug𒁃gling with Shiden Dance.
You'll want to keep Soh near Raikobo at all times, as their wide attacks can easily hit Yoshiro even if she's not the focus of the attack. That said, consistently pulling off Perfect Guard and Shiden Form 2 should have Raikobo's Resist Gauge whittled down in no time.
How To Defeat Raikobo
Raikobo is a confident boss. They have no extra summons and no phase changes. What you see is what you get, and what you get is a deeply challenging boss, especially if you don't quite know how tཧheir moves work.
The short of it is that you want to order your Villagers to attack at all times until you see Raikobo performing either of its Lightning Stake abilities. At this point, they should step away to protect Yo🧜shiro.
Raikobo has two distinct ways of fighting - with its glaive, and with the lightning stakes that 🗹hover behind it. Before we go into a deeper dive, we'll give you a quick rundown of all of Raikobo's moves.
Attack |
Attack Description |
Counter |
---|---|---|
Glaive Combo |
Raikobo strikes with the glaive in a series of swings and thrusts, covering a wide area. Each attack can be alternated randomly. |
Perfect Guard is the best to counter this, as it can cancel the entire combo s💦tring, forcing Raikobo to start over. |
Overhead Swing |
Raikobo quickly lifts their glaive and swings it around them to knock everyone away. Limited damage, but very fast. |
This one comes out quickly, but even a regular block should be enough to avoid any damage. |
Advancing Glaive Swing |
Raikobo will raise their glaive before rushing forward and striking in a wide arc, damaging and knocking back everyone hit. This attack is unblockable. |
The attack is slow but has quite strong tracking. Dodge it as soon as Raikobo swings the glaive. |
Lightning Stake Bolts |
Raikobo will return to the back of the arena before sending its stakes into the sky to strike where the Villagers are standing shortly afterwards. |
Avoid the warning circles with Soh, and send the Villagers to defend Yoshiro at the same time. |
Pylon Stakes |
Raikobo will retreat to the back of the arena and hover its stakes in the air ahead of it, creating a path between them and Yoshiro. These will detonate after a few seconds. |
This move can be cancelled by destroying one stake in each row, limiting the damage done to Yoshiro. |
Destroying🌌 Raikobo's stakes also deals 🐈Resist Gauge damage to them.
While Raikobo's melee strikes are fairly predictable, it's when they shift to the😼ir Lightning S🐼take abilities you need to start thinking fast.
The Pylon Stakes are the hardest to deal with because they're on quite a short countdown. They will strike down, beginning with Raikobo unti🐲l lan⛦ding right in front of Yoshiro.
After a few seconds, these stakes will start arcing towards Yoshiro in turn, enough to defeat her at once if all three are active.
The stakes arc in order, so striking those closest to Yoshiro will give you an extra few moments even as the lightning arcs towarꩵd them. However, destroying any stake in a line will destroy the chain, nullifying the attack. Because of this, you should aim to destroy one stake in each row rather than all three in a single row.
Both of Raikobo's Lightning Stake abilities can be cancelled if you manage to deplete their Resist Gauge before they're executed.
The Lightning Stake Bolts are also slightly complicated. Raikobo will retreat to the baꦇck of the arena and summon the Lightning Stakes beside themself before sending them to the air.
At this point, red and blue circles will ap♈pear to show where they will strike. Once you see the warn🅷ing circles appear, order your Villagers to defend Yoshiro.
If y🍌ou send them back too soon, then all the stakes will land in front of Yoshiro, dealing massive damage.
Send them back too late (or not at all), and the stakes will fall all around them, which can be devastating if they're all grouped together. It's hard to avoid entirely, but you can work to minimise losses.
That's it for Raikobo. It's quite easy for damage to build up quickly against them since their attacks have quite a wide reach, but focus on the Lightning Stak𓆏es whenever they appear, and you'll have Raiko💯bo purged in no time.
Once you've defeated them, Raikobo drops the Sorcerer Role and you may continue on to Narusawa Wind Caves.
