The final stage of Nutty Noon in Kirby’s Return To Dream Land Deluxe has you taking on the boss of all Planet Popstar — Grand Doomer. This boss is tougher than any you’ve taken on before, and you’ll need to be wary of its attacks if you want to complete it and collect the final it🐼em for Magalor’s Lor Starcutter.
While the bosses you’ve fought before have had two stages, the Grand Doomer has three. It won’t go easy on you, and you’ll need to make good use of your Copy Abilities to take it down. Don’t worry thouᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚgh — we’ll go over all the at🍬tacks it can do so you can defeat it.
Copy Ability Choices
Head up the ladders, and you’ll find six Copy Abilities to choose from for this boss fight:
- Sand;
- Whip;
- Cutter;
- Wing;
- Fighter;
- and Mecha.
Mecha is one of the best Copy Abilities in the game, so it&rsquo🍬;s highly recommend💖ed that you choose this one.
Jump up to the star to be taken to the boss💃 arena.
How To Defeat Grand Doomer
Go right and pick up the mast. The Grand Do🌳omer will appear and swallow it, so you’ll need to fight it to clꦑaim it back.
First Phase
The Grand Doomer acts similar to the Sphere Doomers you’ll have taken on throughout various other♛ stages, but it’s much bigger.
When it swoops across the boss arena, it takes up more room, so you’ll have less room to dodge its attacks. When it comes towards you, make sure to find a safe space out of its path.
It throws projectiles that will either hit you or land on the ground. You can hit these to rebound them at the boss.
Unlike the regular Sphere Doomer, the Grand Doomer also has the ability to teleport rapidly across the arena. Stay on your toes to avoid being hit by it when it disappears and 🐽reappear🎐s.
It will also make four black holes appear, and then propel itself out of one of them. Stay out of the way of all the black holes in case it comes out of the one you’re standi🉐ng in fro🔯nt of.
Another of its attacks involves hiding in the bottom of the stage, so that you can only see its shadow. If you’re within its vicinity, it will grab you in its jaws and trap you. Move your control💦 stick rapidly to escape if you are caught.
Dodge all of these attacks and hit it with your Copy Ability when you can.
Second Phase
Once you reduce its health by half, the Grand Doomer will start using even more attacks. It will produce projectiles that home in on you as a target. Destroy these as soon as possible.
Additionally, it will leap to the back of the arena and begin shooting projectiles extremely rapidly. Jump up near the top of the screen to avoid the line of fire.
The Grand Doomer has more HP than any of the other bosses you have fought before, so you’ll need to keep hitting insistently until you reduce its HP.
Third Phase
Once you reduce the Grand Doomer’s HP to zero, it will shield itself and begin another phase. Its HP bar will be split into four and each section has a star on it, hinting that you'll need to use a Super Ability for these. The Grand Doomer itself has protected itself inside a ball.
The Grand Doomer summons regular enemies, so attack these before they can damage you. One of these enemies will possess the Ultra Sword Super Ability, so grab this off the enemy.
Use this Super Ability when the Grand Doomer appears again to destroy one section of its health bar.
Keep using your Super Ability when the Grand Doomer appears — you won’t be able to hit it when it’s teleporting, so wait until it lands on the ground.
You’ll need to hit an additional three times after the first hit to completely destroy its shield. Then, when it’s returned to its normal form, use the Super Ability again for one final hit.
With that, you can grab the Lor Starcutter’s mast and complete Magalor’s ship.
