Missing Link's Second Closed Beta Goes All In On Story

Neptune and Freya in Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link.

When it was revealed that Missing Link would be getting a second closed beta💮 test this month, many fans wondered if it would have anything new or if it'd just be the same content repeated. I managed to get access to both closed tests and can confirm that there's a whole lot of new content in the latest beta, especially when it comes to the story.

Things are mostly the same in the first few missions of the test, with your protagonist waking up on the s🌼hore and running into Remus, a red-haired character who introduces you to the w༒orld. After you defeat Darkside, though, there are several new cutscenes that give a good idea of what Missing Link is all about.

The first cutscene has you and Remus walking through Scala Ad Caelum, where you see a statue of Ephemer and seem to remember him, furthering the idea that your protagonist has the heart of the one you played as in Union X. After that, we see scientists in a lab studying anomalies, who also seem to have a problem with Scala's Baroque Society, which is the one that Remus belongs to.

As the player and Remus go to the society's HQ to talk to its leader, two guards approach and try to arrest us for being involved in an assault at the beach. That is until Nept (presumably short for Neptune), and reveals the guards were being mind-controlled by two black feathers, which seem to have been placed by two figures standing on a nearby rooftop.

No, the black feathers probably don't have anything to do with Sephiroth.🌠 I will admitܫ, though, the same thought crossed my mind...

Finally, inside the Baroque HQ, we get introduced to another new character, Freya, who runs✤ the administration for the society and explains more of the world to us. Our protagonist then joins the Baroque Society and sets out to explore the Astral Dimension, but no👍t before Freya teases something called "Warp Worlds" which seems to be how Disney worlds are going to be incorporated.

That's where the closed beta test stops the story content, but it's enough to give a good idea of what we're going to be doing in Missing Link and how the world works. It's also a big hint that the game is coming along well and shouldn't be all that far from release.
