When I first saw the five location cards TheGamer was asked to reveal today, I had one of those eureka moments where things suddenly click into place. Ever since Jim Hawkins was revealed as Into the Inklands’ first Legendary card, I’ve been eying every new location card shown, hoping to find the one that best synergizes with his unique set of abilities. That location has finally been revealed, and, as we should have expected, it's none other than Treasure Planet’s RLS Legacy.
Locations are the biggest mystery surrounding Into the Inklands. T🅷he new card type has the potential to have a huge impact on the game, but until we get a chance to play with them ourselves, it’s hard to tell if they’ll be any good. We’ve seen a few with potential already, but the RLS Legacy is the first location we’ve seen t🔯hat has fully sold me on the mechanic. Not only does it let Jim Hawkins reach his full potential, but it’s convinced me that location cards are going to make a big splash in the new meta.

The Magic Of Lorcana's Into The Inklands Is In The Small Details
It's the little things that make a 🧜big difference in the new Disney Lorcana expansion.
The synergy bet🌳ween Jim Hawkins, Space Traveller and RLS Legacy, Solar Galleon is plain to see. When you play Jim, you can play a four-cost-or-less location for free, so he can come right out of your hand with RLS Legacy. When you play a location, you can move Jim to it for free, and once you hav𝐆e one character there, the RLS Legacy allows you to move other characters there for two less ink. In practice, this means on turn six you can play Jim, play RLS Legacy for free, move Jim to it for free, then move one of your other characters to it for just one ink. The kicker? Characters at the RLS Legacy all become Evasive.
If you play it out as I described, you’re getting 15 ink worth of value for just six ink, but you can do even better. Instead of paying one ink to move a second character, you can play Voyage, another Ruby card, and move two characters to the RLS Legacy. Now you’ve got three characters that all have Evasi💙ve, as well as a location that i🉐s generating two lore per turn, when, at the start of the turn, you only had two characters on the board.
This is an explosive turn that can really catch your opponent off guard, at least until it becomes established in the meta and everybody’s running it. It’s such a powerful play that🌜 it’s hard to imagine either Jim Hawkins or RLS Legacy being viable on their own. They need each ܫother, but when they have each other they do so much.
You can squeeze even more value out of this turn too. If you already have characters that benefit from moving to a location in play, like Peter Pan, Lost Boy Leader; Minnie Mouse, Funky Spelunker; Moana, Born Leader; Heihei, Accidental Explorer; or Cubby, Mighty Lost Boy; you’ll get to activate their abilities too. Peter Pan will instantly give you two lore from this interaction🏅, while characters like Minnie and Cubby gain Strength that can be used to trade off potential threats to your location on your opponent’s turn.
The big downside to locations is that they&rsqu♍o;re completely vulnerable to being challenged, but the RLS Legacy’s massive eight Willpower puts it out of range of Maui, Hero to All; who is the big threat to most locations going into the next expansion. Since it grants Evasive, your characters will be able to safely make favorable trades with your opponent’s board to keep the location safe, or quest freely while your opponent💛 whittles down the ship’s large Willpower pool. It’s a late game combo that requires some setup to pull off, but it’s impossible to deny that this is a powerful, perhaps even game-winning line of play.
I was unsure about locations up until now, but RLS Legacy has convinced me that they’re going to have a big impact on the game. All five of the newly-revealed locations have a ton of potential, and I can’t wait to see the decks that form around them. The Queen’s Castle has absurd card draw potential, Pride Lands encourages a new Amber/Steel archetype that prioritizes Kings and Princes, Kuzco’s Palace gives all of your character’s Kuzco, Temperamental Emperor's signature ability, and even The Bayou has potential for decks with high unthinkable values. Jim Hawkins has been waiting for the RLS Legacy, and we’ve been waiting to see the location cards that are really going to disrupt the game.
