Before the launch of Disney Lorcana’s Rise of the Floodborn expansion, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:I made a prediction that it was going to add such a massive power spike to the game that Lorcana would be practically unrecognizable. I’m not too proud to admit that I was mostly wrong. I had a bad take. It doesn’♓t happen often. In fact, this is the first time I’ve ever had a bad take, prove me wrong.
The important thing is that we learn from𒊎 our mistakes. I’m fairly new to studying TCG meta - not an excuse, just a fact - and even if I was an expert in Magic or Pokemon (who, even then, still get things mostly wrong a lot of the time), there’s going to be a lot of things about Lorcana that are totally unique. I also wasn’t alone in overestimating the impact RotF was going to have on the game. A lot of people in the community expected huge things from the expansion, but as it turns out, the vast majority of the new cards aren’t seeing any play.
In my defense, I did get quite a few things right. The Merlin and Madam Mim bounce package, especially Merlin, Goat and Madam Mim, Fox, have 💙transformed the Ruby/Amethyst Control deck and even given birth to a competing archetype, Ruby/Amethyst Aggro. I correctly identified Arthur, Wizard’s Apprentice and The Sorcerer’s Spellbook would be big players too. Unfortunately some of the cards I identified early on, like Pack Tactics, Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo, and Belle, Hidden Archer, aren’t the game changers Iܫ expected them to be.

Lorcana's Into The Inklands Already Has A Stronger Theme Than Rise Of The Floodborn
I know exactly what Into the Inklands is all about wi𒉰th just a glance.
Watching the meta start to settle on Rise of the Floodborn has given me tremendous insight, and I feel much more equipp✱ed to assess new cards going forward. When it comes to power levels, context is everything, and a card is only as good as the current meta will allow it to be. Belle, Hidden Archer seems like ꦕan outrageously powerful card, but a control-focused meta means it will never get the chance to punish your opponent and make them discard their hand before it gets removed. What works in Lorcana right now is cards that have powerful on-play effects, and things that have to wait a turn (or more) before they can do anything always struggle to generate value.
It’s the same problem Beast, Relentless is having right now. A lot of people were bullish on that card when it was first revealed, but I just couldn’t see it (I told you I always have correct takes, except for that one time). An unanswered Beast, Relentless does have an incredible amount of potential, but in this meta, he’s going to 🎐get answered ten out of ten times.
Cards we thought were OP that no one is playing
It’s getting easier to recognize when bad cards have good abilit🌄ies, now that we have so many examples like Beast, Relentless and Belle, Hidden Archer.🎃 The recently revealed Into the Inklands card Mama Odie is one such example. Its ability lets you move two damage counters from one character to another whenever she quests, which, on paper, has incredible potential. You can effectively heal your characters and damage opposing characters and it costs you nothing.
But unfortunately, this is a slow card that requires a very specific condition - damage being on a character - in order to get value. An unthinkable six-cost card that does nothing when you play it, and nothing until it quests, is not playable iဣn the current meta, and things would have to change significantly to make it work in the future.
Not every card’s utility is immediately apparent. Magic Mirror was considered overpriced and too risky to play before The First Chapter launched, but it was a staple in every Ruby/Amethyst deck that was an important tool for finding things like Be Prepared when you needed them most. Mama Odie could find a place in the right deck, but not unless things change significantly in a way they simply didn’t between The First Chapter and Rise of the Floodborn. ♕Time will tell what kind of impact Into the Inklands has on Lorcana, but at least we have a better idea of the challenges new cards face as they enꦐter the meta now.
