I’m still reeling over the fact that Disney Lorcana’s next expansion, Ursula’s Return, is only two weeks away. The fourth set will take us all the way to the end of Lorcana’s first year, and it’s bringing some big exciting things♓ to the trading card game.

The Illumineer’s Quest is a new co-op game mode coming in this expansion that brings the story of Lorcana to the forefront for the first time. Encanto characters finally join the fray, we’ve got a new mechanic to experiment with called 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sing Together, and there’s even a new Flounder card (if you know, you know). Those are all things to get exc🐎itꦺed about, but if I’m really being honest, I kind of don’t want a new expansion to come out right now.

Don’t get me wrong, I know Ursula’s Return is going to be a blast. 168澳洲幸运5开奖🙈网:I’ve already started theory-crafting with the cards that have been revealed so far, and I’m excited to see what the Illumineer’s Quest is all about (my friends are convinced we can beat it on Expert difficulty, I’m not so sure). But the thing is, Lorcana is so good right now, I’m worrꦰied about what all these new cards are going🔜 to do to it.

Four Lorcana Set Ch🌳ampionships in 48 hours. Here's how I did it.

The first-ever Lorcana Set Championship wrapped up this past weekend, and by all accounts, it was a massive success for the game and the community. Players all across the US and Europe competed for priꦺzes at thousands of local game stores, and by all accounts it was a fairly universally positive experience for everyone. That’s a testament to the Lorcana community, which is one of the most welcoming, diverse, and enthusiastic you’ll find among trading card game fans, but it’s also a testament to how much fun it is to play Lorcana right now.

I attended six set championships across two weekends and I encountered so many different people playing so many different decks. If🍃 you look at the tournament reporting on , you’ll find 11 different ink color combinations that performed well enough in set cham൲pionships to win the top prizes, and among those archetypes, there were countless variations for how each one could be built.

Lorcana Ruby Amethyst Deck Option

If you’re familiar with TCGs, that kind of variety is rare. In most games, a healthy meta has four or five competitive decks. Right now, Lorcana has close ෴to a dozen. Even now, atꦇ the tail end of the season, new decks are finding their way into the meta and proving to be competitive.

That wasn’t the case in the early days of Lorcana. For the first two sets, there was really only one deck at top of the meta: Ruby/Amethyst. Others saw some play too; Amber/Steel Steelsong has always been popular and Ruby/Sapphire Pawpsicle had some early success during Rise of the Floodborn, but for the first six months of Lorcana, Ruby/Amethyst was the only consistently successful deck, and everyone was playing it.

It wasn’t until the release of Into the Inklands in February that lots of decks became viable, and at this point, you couldn’t🌠 ask for a more healthy and diverse meta. That’s exactly why I’m reluctant to embrace Ursula’s Return later this month. The game is so good right now, I’m worried🍰 things can only get worse.

It doesn’t help that I’m competing at the Disney Lorcana Challenge in Atlanta later this month. The first official regional competitive event takes place a week after the new expansion releases in local game stores, but it won’t be legal to play i𓄧n the tournament. So while everyone is hyped up for Ursula’s Return, opening new packs and starting their new collections, I have to keep🌊 my mind focused entirely on Into the Inklands.

Ursula's Return Ruby-1

The last week is the most important for tournament planning, and I need to use it to shore up my deck list and get as much last-minute practice in as possible. I can’t even think about the new expansion until it’s over, and I wish it wasn’t going to be floating around as suc☂h a tempting distraction when I really need to focus on the old🦋 meta.

I have a lot of faith in Ravensburger after the success of Into the Inklands, and while I’m nervous about Ursula’s Return, I don’t foresee it ruining the game or throwing the balance completely out of whack. I’m just so happy with what Lorcana is today that I don’t want to se🧜e it change too much, even if what comes next makes it even bet♛ter.
