Into The Dead: Our Darkest Days - 8 Beginꦺner Tips
Trying Into the Dead: Our Darkest Days? Some of these essential tips can help you survive, craft, and fight in a 𒊎post-apocalyptic world.
One very important survival technique is managing the hunger of the survivors you're in charge of. If you let them starve they will eventually die, and then it's game over. So let's discuss how to make your survivo💜rs eat so they can keep fighting the fight.
How To Eat
First things first, you can only eat at your shelter✨ during either the Day or Night phase. When you're out scavenging for supplies, the hunger meter is hidden and i𓃲f you try to eat nothing will happen.
Though you can't eat when out of the shelter, you can still drink alcohol or coffee, u🦋nless your survivor has a𒊎 trait that blocks either of those.
To eat, first select the survivor that's hungry. Then, open your inventory, select the food item, and press the action button (E on the keyboard and A or X on the controller).
How To Get Food
Making sure your survivors don't starve is one of the many things that is essential to their survival. If they don't eat, they will eventually develop a status called Gnawing Hunger. Once that starts, they'll be dead within a couple of phases if they don't eat something.
There are different types of food you can find in the game that you can give your survivor♚s to eat. Those include:
- Vegetables
- Raw meat
- Junk food
- Dog food
- Cooked meals
You can find any of these at locations that are marked for having food on the map. However, the best locations to look for food would be restaurants and gas stations.
Eating veggies or junk food is fine in a pinch, but your best option for keeping survivors fed is to craft a cooking area and cook your own meals.
If you need to give your survivors raw meat or dog food, keep in mind that not only could this make them sick, but the dog food will also cause them to lose a little bit of their morale.
How To Craft Meals
It is possible for you to find cooked meals while scavenging, but you're better off making them yourself at the shelter. To do so, you'll first need to craft a 🅰Cooking Area from the workbench.
The first Cooking Area comes with two recipes you can make: Meat Stew and Vegetable Soup. Those will get you started right, but as you add more survivors to the shelter, you'll need to look into upgrading the cooking station, which you can do up to two times.
Meal | Ingredients Required | Unlocked | Effect |
---|---|---|---|
Meat Stew |
|
Level 1 Cooking Area | Refills moderate amount of hunger. |
Vegetable Soup |
|
Level 1 Cooking Area | Refills moderate amount of hunger. |
Goulash |
|
Level 2 Cooking Area | Refills large amount of hunger. |
Chili Con Carne |
|
Level 3 Cooking Area | Refills extra large amount of hunger. |
Casserole |
|
Level 3 Cooking Area | Refills extra large amount of hunger. |
The first two recipes produce two meals each when crafted; the rest produce three. If you use a survivor with the Good Cook trait, however, each recipe will produce one more meal than usual. They all also produce empty bottles, which can either be used as distractions or saved for collecting water.
