I spent a whopping hour and a half playing at , and came away as blissed out as I was perplexed. I’ve been fascinated with Infinity Nikki’s whole deal 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:since it made an appearance at June’s State of Play showcase – it’s rare that we see dr🌳ess-up games made at the triple-A budget, let alone one that’s drawing so much attention despite being so clearly geared towards women.

This appeal doesn’t come from nowhere – the Nikki series has been around for over a decade, but Infinity Nikki is the first open-world installment. And my god, is it open. I spent a good chunk of my preview wandering the setting and trying to move toward my objective, but I kept getting sidetracked by the sheer 🌌number of things I could be doing instead. I eavesdropped on some delightful, funny dialogue between characters. I helped a forgetful old lady find some flowers through a hidden object minigame. I collected crafting materials for new dresses. I searched for star-shaped things in the environment that hid Whimstars.

I also came across a Curio domain where I had to combine my abilities with fans placed in the blocky environment to get to the endpoint. Th🍌is offered a degree of challenge I didn’t find elsewhere in the game.

And that’s just a few of the things that you can find by wandering around, which in 𝔉itself can be pretty fun. There are many🌠 ways to traverse the landscape, which can mean hopping into wind tunnels a la , bouncing on mushrooms to get to higher elevation, or using an ability to float across broken bridges. At some point, something that looked like a dugong launched me across the map, and I thought, “God, that rocks.”

Thankfully, there’s fast travel. Infin🌌ity Nikki’s map is so big that I was struggling to find my way to the indicated map marker without it.

Of course, Infinity Nikki’s main draw is the outfits. A developer told me that most outfits can be crafted with resources found in the game, but this is still a gacha game – there are outfits you’ll have to pay for, and a number of other currencies tied in with log-in rewards, Courses (rewards offers for doing stuff in the game like tak🐠ing photos and playing minigames), and daily challenges. With language barriers, it was difficult to confirm how many of the unlocked outfits could be crafted and how many would cost real money.

In fact, there was a lot that was difficult to confirm or understand. There are so many menus in Infinity Nikki that I was iꦺmmediately overwhelmed. I found something called a Mira Level, which looked like a battle pass and offered rewards for leveling up. There was a menu for the gacha mechanics, but there was nothing in it to see just yet. There was something called Faction Ties, which showed a number of different in-game groups – it looks like you have to do challenges for different members of those groups to learn about its leadership, though the end goal is unclear.

That brings me to the Style Challenges, which are a great way to get players to actually engage with the dress-up aspect if they aren’t already doing so. One faction member asked me to make a Cute outfit. I went into the dress-up menu and looked at all ܫmy items with high Cute stats, and put together my favourite pieces ꧃to create an outfit I could be proud of.

While Editor-in-Chief Stacey Henley said 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:in her preview that this aspect made it feel a little too like a spreadsheet, I found that I had a very comfortable experience with mixing stats and my personal taste. In the end, though, even though I used my highest scoring items, I didn’t get that high a score. I assume the really high-scoring 🐼pieces will b♏e ones you have to pay for.

There’s quite a lot of variety in the items yo꧙u can choose – there are dresses, of course, but pants and jackets as well, and a hefty number of accessories to choos🍌e from including earrings, watches, and socks. Unfortunately, there weren’t any makeup options in the game yet, but I found that the interface and number of options reminded me a little of the Sims.

Outside of this style challenge, I made Nikki’꧅s regular outfit a snazzꦍy pantsuit number with classy, minimalist accessories. I heard a developer behind me comment to a colleague that I’d made her ‘shuai’, or handsome in Mandarin. It’s pretty cool to have the option to move away from just dresses.

It feels impossible that Infinity Nikki has this much going on at once, and yet there’s also a story being told here. While exactly what that story is isn’t yet clear, I was intrigued by t💟he mention of the ‘Stoneheart’, which sets up some kind of mystery that I wanted to know more about. After fiddling around with the game for nearly an hour, I finally started the quest in the demo🐟, and this is where I found myself disappointed.

This quest sent me onto a train moving through a tunnel of sorts, where my objective was to get to the end to talk to someone about someth♚ing – look, it was very confusing without the context, and I’m really not sure at this point that its story is interesting enough to justify all♚ of this.

Most of the gameplay involved moving ar💛ound platforms and shooting enemies. The combat is, by far, the least interesting thing about Infinity Nikki. In fact, it feels like such an afterthought that I found myself wondering why it was even included. Most enemies in this quest and in the world can be dispatched within a few seconds, and shooting at them just means clicking the mouse in their general 🤡direction. You don’t even have to aim. Everything else about Infinity Nikki is at least kinda fun, if not always compelling, so it’s confusing to me why combat is so boring. Quite frankly, if it was removed from the game entirely, I wouldn’t even miss it – there’s plenty to love about the game outside of it.

I still have a lot of qualms about Infinity Nikki, but there’s no denying that it’s absolutely chock-full of things to do. I just don’t know how it all ties together, how it’s going to extract money from me, or whether there’s enough substance in it to justify all this spectacle. Even with all these questions, I had to drag myself away from the PC after my preview window ended, which says a lot about just how fun this dress-up ꦰgame can be.
