It kind of feels like the Grand Theft Auto games have been around forever! The first one came out in 1997 but I think most people’s first GTA game was GTA III in 2001. After that game came out, games basically changed. It wasn’t until Vice City came out that the games started being known for characters and storytelling. I would argue that GTA IV was the first game in the series that I reꦏally cared about characters, but t🅰hat’s me.

So with all these characters and stories going on in these game, it’s no surprise that theories have come up over the years. Rockstar likes to put a ton of easter eggs in their games since they are all huge open worlds. They also make other games such as Manhunt, Red Dead Redemption, and Bully. So they have made sure and put some stuff about those games in the GTA𓂃 games as a nice nod to the fans, or are the𝄹y nods?

There are a ton of fan theories about games connecting to other games or if all the Rockstar games are in the same universe. This list is going to touch on those and several other theories. This is also going to focus on theories that have come true, been confirmed, or at least seen in-game. So no myths that have no proof. Seeing that GTA V will 🌸be 5 years old this ye𓂃ar, there have been a ton of theories developed from that game alone! Let’s get to it!

Grand Theft Auto V came out in September of 2013 and it was one of the biggest game releases of the past 10 years! It was awesome to see a new GTA game and explore literally everything! The only problem was that November of 2013, the PS4 was set to come out. So yeah, we had GTA V, but the new system was coming out in 2 months.

It sold 11.21 million copies and made over $800 million worldwide in the first 24 hours.

So there was a rumor that GTA V was going to be ported to the PS4 and Xbox One and at E3 2014 they announced it was happening. The PC version came 🔯out in 2015 and is considered the definitive ve♍rsion, with high-end graphics and mods. There was also an entirely new mode in the game but we’ll talk about that later.

During the lead up to GTA V people were speculating where the game would take place and if it would be a modern setting or not. Vice City always seems to pop up anytime a new GTA game is mentioned but San Andreas came up as well. GTA: San Andreas came out in 2004 so it had been almost 10 years since we went there. Well turns out the San Andreas theorists were right because in the first trailer for the game, it showed it was based in Los Santos, wꦦhich is based on Los Angeles.

Not only did the game take place in Los Santos but San Andreas as well. So you could go to the circle that CJ’s house was in, in San Andreas, which was awesome. There were rumors about maybe going back to Las Venturas whicౠh is๊ basically Vegas but it wasn't there.

So during the lead up to Rockstar confirming that GTA V was coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC, there were rumors that it would have a new way to play. Some people thought maybe VR but VR was still♛ a ways off from being able to do that. When they revealed that the🥀 game was going to be fully playable in first-person mode, it was a bigger deal than some realize.

It was smart to include something like that for people that had played through the entire game already.

It gave them a valid reason to go back through. There’s actually a trophy/achievement for playing the game in first-person mode for 15 hours. It made the gam🌠e a bit too realistic for some though, because the game is violent and you're seeing that stuff up close in that mode. Gotta get that trophy though right… no… just me?

I can’t remember a triple-a game that had such a huge mystery around it for so long like the Mount Chiliad mystery in GTA V. And it was a big deal right from the start of the game launching! People found the monument with the drawings on it and the internet blew up with what it was and what it meant. Was it an endgame thing like an RPG or was it just there to be there? Well, the Doomsday Heist DLC cam༒e out in December and you got to go inside Mount Chil🌌iad for the missions and we finally saw what was inside…it was jetpacks!

There’s a symbol of a guy on a jetpack as one of the drawings where people discovered this mystery. Turns out that they were mainly symbols for things you could get in GTA Online DLC. Coincidence? Yeah maybe, but jetpacks!

All of the GTA games are set on islands and most feel there is a reason for that. The series is known for having humor that deals with Americans being a bit full of themselves and being shut out to the outside world. So the rumor was that the games were all on islands as a metaphor for the characters being close-minded and ignor𒀰ant to what’s going on outside their little bubble of a life.

Even the cities in the games are on islands since they are based on New York.

Now, this could just be a gameplay thing since there needs to be an end to the world but I’m not sure. It could be both because these games take forever to come out a𓆏nd are well thought out. And the evidence is there since they're all, ya know…on islands!

Bigfoot has been a staple myth in the GTA games for a while. It got really heavy in San Andreas since you have missions in Blaine County and it's set in a heavily wooded area. Bigfoot wasn’t in the main game but there are mods on the PC version that has him running around in the rumored areas. So naturally, people started wondering if Bigfoot was going to be in GTA V since it was set in Los Santos/San Andreas.

Well once people got into the game and started a string of hunting missions they saw that one of the missions had Bigfoot in it. Now it wasn’t quite what people were expecting after all these years but I have a feeling it was Rockstar doing it on purpose. Bigfoot is just a guy in a suit in GTA V and it’s actually a pretty funny scene.

Around the time Vice City and San Andreas came out people were starting to wonder if all these GTA games had any kind of story/character connections. Since Liberty City kept getting brought up in all the games, people started thinking if it was the same one across GTA III and GTA IV. I mean, that makes sense ri😼ght? It would be like if multiple Batman movies came out by th💜e same people and it was a different Gotham City every time.

Liberty City has been the hub city for many GTA games.

So in GTA IV, when Claude from GTA III showed up in a mission, that pretty much gave everyone the answer they were wanting. The same happened in GTA V when someone brought up Niko in a mission. So now the question is, when will we see Tommy Vercetti from Vice City show up!? GTA VI?

Aliens have always been an interesting part of the GTA series. There aren’t many games that you actually have any kind of contact with them but there have been clues in all the major games. Like there’s a UFO on a TV set in Vice City and you can see some interesting stuff at Area 69 in San Andreas. So rumors started building if there will ever be any meaning to any of this or if it is just a 'thing' in the games. Well, enter GTA V!

There’s an early mission in GTA V where Michael gets placed on substances and we finally see the aliens in person, even if it was just an illusion. There’s also a side mission tha🦋t Frankli🦋n can do after the main story that involves getting spaceship parts. The big one is Mount Chiliad but we’ll get to that later on the list!

Literally a few days after GTA IV came out there were a ton of fan theories about what was possible to do in the game and what was in it. Since it was the first GTA game on a PS3/Xbox 360, it had people’s minds all over the place but that also lead to a few theories leading to things that were in the game. A big one was that you could get inside the Statue of Liber🗹ty and there was a beating heart𓃲 inside. Now, that sounds like a load of garbage, but it turned out they were right!

GTA IV was the first numbered game in the series in 9 years.

It is pretty easy to get inside the statue. All you need is a chopper and you need to fly near it and jump out near a staircase. Once you're on the stairs, just walk up them and go in. It’s an inte🦩resting site inside!

A few years ago, Sony started a new line of digital games with the PS2 on PS4 games. They are games from the PS2 era but they have gone in and made the textures better and put the games in 16:9 widescreen. They also added trophies so it’s pretty cool to play an older game and get trophies playing through it. So naturally, this lead to fans wanting the GTA games on th꧃ere and the rumors started if they would be. It’s no surprise that they eventually did.

There’s just something really cool about being able to play GTA III, GTA: Vice City, and GTA: San Andreas on a PS4! The gameplay is still the same and they have not aged well in that sense but the whole games are there and run really well🅠. And using a Dualshock 4 to 🐓play them feels really good!
