At one time, the idea of Deadpool ever featuring in a movie seemed very unlikely. After all, when the character made his comic debut in 1990, not many superheroes got their own movies. Plus, the tone of superhero films back then didn't fit with the profanity and violence that the character is known for.

Even in the early 2000s, when the grittier X-Men movies were released, it still didn't seem likely that Deadpool would get his time to shine on the silver screen. Yet, he is now a character who has starred in multiple extremely successful movies. In fact, the merc has become one of the more famous comic-book characters. He's even entered the MCU. Hulk Vs. Wolverine

Deadpool's first involvement in a movie came in 2009 when he appeared in Hulk Vs. Wolverine. It is one part of a two-part direct-to-video animated flick.

As the title suggests, the movie is mostly about a conflict between Hulk and Wolverine, as the latter is sent to stop the green monster as he's rampaging throughout the Canadian wilderness. Deadpool is in the movie as part of Team X, who aren't really on either Hulk or Wolverine's side, but the former is their main target.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Fans had to wait until 2016 to get a Deadpool solo movie. Ryan Reynolds reprises his role as the Merc with a Mouth. Yet, it has nothing to do with X-Men Origins: Wolverine. It's still technically part of the X-Men universe, though.

So, Deadpool teams up with Colossus and his teenage trainee to hunt down the man responsible for disfiguring him and giving him his mutant abilities. Since this is a true Deadpool flick, it involves plenty of silly humor, fourth-wall breaks, and gore. It also features the first live-action appearance of Deadpool's signature red suit.

Deadpool 2

By Deadpool 2, the titular character had already appeared on the silver screen, but the film served as Cable's first movie appearance. In it, Cable has come from the past to eliminate a young mutant in an attempt to save the future. Deadpool, however, wants to save the young boy, so he assembles the X-Force to stop the time-traveling soldier.

The movie is very similar in tone to the first Deadpool solo movie, as it contains plenty of outrageous humor despite Cable being a very serious character. It was one of the last movies in Fox's X-Men universe.

Deadpool And Wolverine

Deadpool and Wolverine is both of the titular characters' debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As such, during the movie, the two of them come up against a force that has become really powerful in the MCU in recent years, and that is the Time Variance Authority.

They are on the verge of erasing Deadpool's timeline, so he finds and joins forces with a Wolverine from a different universe to help stop that from happening. Despite being an MCU movie, it contains all the classic foul-mouthed jokes and bloody action scenes you expect from a Deadpool film.
