With so many names, it’s hard to keep up with wh🍨o’s who in the Targaryen lineage and line of succession. This lineage can be especially confusing during the Dance of the Dragons, a period covered in HBO's , which is based on George RR Martin’s Fire & Blood.

ꦦ House Of The Dragon:🅷 8 Biggest Differences Between The TV Show And Books
Here are the biggest differences between T♋V and books in Ho🍨use Of The Dragon!
It all started with Jaehaerys Targaryen, the fourth king of Westeros. Though Jaehaerys had many children, he didn't have an heir by the time 101 AC (After Conquest) came around, which put the order of succession into question. This uncertainty led to the Great Council of 101, where 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the great h🐓ouses of the seven kingdoms gathered to determine who would succeed Jaehaerys on the Iron Throne.
In George RR Martin's A Song of Ice & Fire, time periods are marked in the context of Aegon's Conquest, when Aegon I Targaryen conquered Westeros with his sisters, Visenya and Rhaenys.
Dates marked BC and AC stand ꧅for Before Conquest and After Conquest, respective♌ly.
Who Succeeds Jaehaerys On The Iron Throne?
During the Great Council of 101, the decision lies between Viserys and Rhaenys, both of whom are grandchildren of Jaehaerys.
Despite being the king’s oldest descendant, Rhaenys' claim is denied because of her gender. The episode then flashes forward to the ninth year of King Viserys' reign.
Jaehaerys And Alysanne's Children In Order Of Age
Jaehaerys the Conciliator and Alysanne the Good Queen had a total of 13 children. Some of these children lived 𝔍to adulthood, while others died shortly🐽 after birth or lived to early childhood.
Their children, in order of birth, were:
- Aegon
- Daenerys
- Aemon
- Baelon
- Alyssa
- Maegelle
- Vaegon
- Daella
- Saera
- Viserra
- Gaemon
- Valerion
- Gael
Four out of the 13 children died young. These children include Aegon, Daenerys, Gaemon, and Valerion.
While watching the series, you may already feel there are far too many Aegons, but three others existed between the Conqueror and King Aegon II. Jaehaerys and Alysanne's firstborn child, Aegon, died only three days after birth.
Unfortunately, the same tragedy befell their second child Daenerys. Their second child and first daughter died at six years old after a plague 🥂called the Shivers ran rampant throug🦋hout King’s Landing.
Jaehaerys and Alysanne's daughter, Daenerys, is not to be confused with the iconic Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen.
Daenerys, one of the main characters in HBO's Game of Thrones, and George RR Martin's A Song of Ice & Fire series, is born more than 200 years after this Daenerys.
The couple experienced more tragedy years later when Queen Alysanne gave birth to her 11th and 12th children: Gaemon and Valerion. Gaemon, the 11th child, lived a few days after birth, and Valerion, the 12th child, died shortly before his first birthday.
Despite these sudden tragedies, all their other children lived until adulthood or their teenage years. However, only five have a direct connection to characters in House of the Dragon. These children include Aemon, Baelon, Alyssa, Daella, and Saera.
Aemon
Their second son, Aemon Targaryen, was named heir to the Iron Throne. Aemon rode the dragon Caraxes, who we see Daemon riding in the show. He married Lady Jocelyn Baratheon, and the couple had one child, Rhaenys Targaryen.
Though King Jaehaerys’ reign was peaceful, there was conflict in the Free Cities of Essos. The Myrish Bloodbath brought destruction to Tarth, which gained Aemon's attention.
Aemon flew to Tarth on Caraxes to aid his allies but was killed when one of the Myrmen loosed a crossbow bolt into his throat.
This incident led to the first time the question of succession emerged. As his only child, Princess Rhaenys’ claim was both 𒐪considered and questione꧒d.
Baelon
Baelon, known as Baelon the Brave, was the fourth child of the king and queen. This son rode Vhagar, who weᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ see ridden 🍬by Laena Velaryon and Aemond Targaryen in the show.
Baelon was married to his sister Alyssa. The pair had three sons: Viserys, Daemon, and Aegon.
After his brother Aemon's death, Jaehaerys decided that Baelon would surpass Rhaenys and become the new heir to the Iron Throne. However, like his brother, he died before he could ascend it.

Baelon died of a “burst belly” while on a hunting trip, which Viserys mentions in a conversation with Otto Hightower♔ in Sea💞son 1.
Viserys, being Baelon’s firstborn son, now has a claim to the Iron Throne, making him and Rhaꦬenys the top two contender🌃s following Jaehaerys.
Alyssa
Though Rhaenys is shown flying Meleys in the show, the princess wasn’t the 'Red Queen’s' first rider. Rhaenys’ aunt Alyssa was the first rider of Meleys and was known to be one of the most free-spiritedℱ of Jaehaerys and Alysa🔯nne’s children.
Born with dirty blonde hair, mismatched eyes, and a broken nose, her unique appearance set her apart from her siblings.
As aforementioned, Alyssa and her brother Baelon had three sons together. While Viserys and Daemon live well into adulthood, as seen on the show, Aegon was less fortunate.
Alyssa died at 24 years old, within a year of🍌 giving birth to Aegon, who died shortly after her.
So far, Alyssa is the only child of Jaehaerys and Alysanne who appears in House of the Dragon. Emeline Lambert portrays her in Season 2, Episode 5 when Daemon hallucinates her during his time at Harren🍸hal.
Though Emeline Lambert is said to portray Alyssa Targaryen in House of the Dragon, she doesn't share the physical attributes described in Fire & Blood.
Daella
Princess Daella was known for being shy, awkwarℱd, and fearful. Because Daella is so shy, Alysanne arranges for Daella to marry Rodrik Arryn, Lord of the Eyrie.
Once wed, Daella becomes pregnant with her daughter, Aemma Arryn. Unfortunately, like🐼 her sister🌟 Alyssa, Daella dies shortly after giving birth.
Years later, her daughter Aemma is eventually married to Viserys and gives birth to Princess Rhaenyra.
Portrayed by Sian Brooke, Aemma's time on the show is short-lived, only appearing alive in the first episode of Season 1 and again deceased in Season 2.
Because of Aemma and her mother, Daella, Rhaenyra is allied with House Arryn, specifically with Jeyne Arryn, Aemma's sister.
Saera
Out of all the siblings, ▨168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Saera was the most rebellious and mischievous. She often caused trouble, like cruel pranks and showing up drunk at court. Saera spent much of her time with her five 'favorites,' an af📖fectionate term for very close companions ಌand sometimes lovers.
One of Saera's cruelest pranks on her father's fool, Tom Turnip, gains her parents' attention. But, when questioning Saera and her favorites, a more scandalous plot is revealed.
Jaehaerys and Alysanne learn that Saera gave her 'maidenhead' to three of her male favorites. F༒urious upon learning the news, Jaehaerys confined Saera t🅘o her bedroom, but she attempted to flee King’s Landing shortly after.
Saera's favorites — Jonah Mooton, Red Roy Connington, Braxton Beesbury, Alys Turnberry, and Perianne Moore — were dealt with individually.
Perianne Moore married Jonah Mooton, while Alys Turnberry, pregnant with one of the boys' bastards, was sent to the Vale.
Red Roy Connington was exiled an🔯d crossed the narrow sea. Braxton Beesbury fought and lost to Jaehaerys when he chose trial by combat.
After this escape attempt, she was sent to the Faith under the charge of her sister, Septa Maegelle. Again, Saera escapes and is later discovered in a pleasure garden in Lys.
It’s believed that Saera ends up running a brothel house on🥃 her own, finding great success due to being a Taꦐrgaryen princess.
Though her name isn’t spoken in the show, it’s suggested that Hugh Hammer is Saera’s bastard son, as he claims his mother was a Targaryen princess who ran her own pleasure housജe.
Though not dir๊ectly related to the plot or characters in the show, Jaehaerys and Alysanne’s other children still lived significan🅠t lives in Fire and Blood.
Maegelle, born after Alyssa, was given over to the Faith as a Septa. She was known for being wise and playing the role of mediator when her parents fought. Maegelle died from greyscale, a condition she c💟aught from the patients she tre♛ated.
Their son Vaegon, born after Maegelle, was sent to Old Town to become an archmaester of the Citadel𓆏. He was known for being very studious and taking li♉ttle interest in women.
King Jaehaerys met with his son, Vaegon, when debating the order of succession in 101 AC. It's unclear whether Jaehaerys asked Vaegon to succeed him or only sought his counsel.

House Of The Dragon: Daem🐷on’s Viജsions, Explained
What are Daemon's visions about 💞in House of the Dragon?
Viserra was said to be the most beautiful of Jaehaerys’ children. After Alyssa passed, V🅰iserra attempted to seduce her brother Baelon, but was ulti🔯mately rejected by him.
This rejection isn&rsqu🍌o;t surprising considering Ba𓆏elon’s great love for his late wife and refusal to marry after her death. This interaction places Ulf White’s parentage into question.
Ulf White, who eventually claims and 168🐻澳洲幸运5开奖网:rides Alysanne’s dragon, Silverwing, says he’s the bastard son of Baelon, making him a half-brother to Viserys and Daemon.
Because he was never known to pursue romance after his 🍒wife’s death, it’s unlikely that Baelon fathered another son.
Ulf White claims his father is Baelon Targaryen in the House of the Dragon series. He doesn't assert his parentage in Martin's Fire & Blood.
But back to Viserra, the princess was betrothed to Theomore Manderly of White Harbor in the North. Wishing to have one more night of fun, Viserra drank and raced through the streets of King’s Landing with her friends.
But on her way back to the castle, Viserra’s horse collided with another, which sent her flying into a wall, breaking her neck and killing her on impact.
Finally, the youngest of Alysanne’s children was named Gael. After experiencing so much tragedy, grief, and loss, Queen Alysanne grew attached to her youngest daughter, but even Gael could not be spared from a young d💜eath.
Gael is said to have died from a summer feve🧸r, though it’s rumored that she was impregnated by a singer and ended her own life after suffering a stillbirth.
With 13 children, it may be shocking that not one of King Jaehaerys’ children succeeded him a🔴fter his death. I🌺f only Prince Aemon or Baelon had survived, the Dance and the entire plot of House of the Dragon could’ve been avoided.
