What Is Machine Strike?
The board game everyone knows in the world of Horizon Forbidden West, Machine Strike is a tabletop strategy game where you must outwit your opponents. The first challenger can be found in Chainscrape after the economy is up and running again.
Using a board made up of varying terrain tiles, each with increased or decreased heights, you will create a set of Strike pieces - designed after various machines - and play against your opponents in tactical combat.
Take turns moving your pieces, and use the various types to carry out different kinds of attacks. There are different categories for each Strike piece, and this changes how they can be played - for example, some are flying pieces, while others 🎶are chargers.
Each piece can also have its own set of rules and special abilities; this can allow for great advantages while in play, and you'll want to make sure you choose theꦰ best pieces for 🍷the terrain.
You can view the board before each match, and choose your Strike set accordingly. Either use custom sets or creဣ🃏ate a new one before play.
The goal is to win enough points to win. The points are earned by defeating an enemy piece - the higher the power of the piece, the more points it is worth. When a player reach▨es the Victory Point goal, the game is done.

Where To Get More Machine Strike Pieces
You can purchase more Strike pieces from Strike Carvers. These are dedicated Strike piece merchants who reside at the Hunting Grounds throughout the game. If there is a Strike piece you wish to obtain, you will need to trade machine parts for it.
If you don't have the required parts, press Triangle to set it as a Job and track down the machine parts you need. Similarly, you can just search on the m😼ap for the machines you need.
Tips For Playing Machine Strike
If you're looking to delve into Machine Strike, you might be a little worried about all the rules and strategies. Don't worry - the game lays out all the descriptions you need, and there are only a few things to keep in mind.
- Check Through The In-Game Glossary - This can also be checked mid-match and holds all the information you need on every aspect of the game. Use it to learn anything you need to, and remember to check back at any time.
- Make Use Of The Tutorials - Perhaps an obvious one, but the best way to learn is to practice. The first challenger in Chainscrape can walk you through some tutorials, so take the time to go through them.
- Get More Strike Pieces - You will be given a starter set made up of a few pieces when introduced to the game. However, this will not be enough for long, so head out and get some more Strike pieces. You should get as many as possible so that you can always build a varied set, and don't be afraid to experiment with some new pieces.
- Bigger Sets Aren't Always Good - You might be tempted to outnumber your opponent. You can see their set when you create yours, so why not bring in more pieces? Well, they probably have stronger ones that can wipe you out. Sometimes, fewer pieces with more power are better - just don't be reckless with them, as they're worth a lot of points.
- Use L1/R1 To Rotate The Perspective - This probably won't win you any matches, but being able to switch around your view of the board can make a big difference. Use L1 and R1 to rotate the view, and see if there's a perspective you prefer to play with.
All that being said, the best thing to do is to keep playing. You'll learn on the go, and the earlier challengers are designed for beginners. Replay their boards as much as you want, and move up at your own pace.
Machine Strike is an excellent game to play, and there is so much for you to delve into - take your time and enjoy it.
