Though it might prove one of the tougher metroidvanias you can play, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Hollow Knight is fantastic at 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:inventing a captivating or🌺iginal mythology that features a host of well-developed fantasy insect characters and intricate storylines. Through your journey across the varied lands that make up the kingdom of Hallownest, you'll come across those that truly showcase extraordinary designs.
Whether they may be aligned with the many enemies you confront or are the more helpful NPCs that have only kind things to say and special side quests for you to complete, there's sure to be something noteworthy in how these characters are designed.
10 ☂ Snail Shaman 🤡
Though the Snail Shaman can seem like an ominous figure, he's quite a benevolent character whose expertise lies in magic. He introduces the spell system that's reliant on your soul collection meter and bestows you 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the first spell in the game, Vengeful Spi🍰rit. And these myst🌌ical powers of his allude to the spiritual practice of shamanism.
His body is all black with glowing white eyes reminiscent of the Jawas from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star Wars. The snail aspect of his character is represented by the snail shell crown he wears atop his head. The more healing shamanistic elements appear through the necklace made of souls that form the game's health bar and his wooden staff that creates the spell for you to acquire.
9 Midwife
The Midwife is one of the last remaining ties to the Spider Tribe that occupied 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the silk-woven areas of Deepnest. As her name suggests, her primary service was once to tend to the tribe's offspring, but now she's only there to share information about some of the history. However, not all is as it seems with her character.
The Midwife starts as a cordial being that's delighted to share her knowledge with you. Her body is a bulky curved tubular shape with short centipede-like legs along the bottom that pops up from a wall of larvae. Her mask makes her look jovial, but hunger befalls her when she finishes her story, and it splits apart to reveal a ferociously frightening face underneath with sharp teeth.
8 𝄹 Grey Mourner
A more tragic and sorrowful character in the story, the Grey Mourner offers a quest for you to place a Delicate Flower beside her lover's grave. She remains in a state of mourning because her departed lover was part of the Mantis Tribe, the daughter of the Traitor Lord no less, and their relationship was never recognized due to her status as an outsider.
Since you find her confined to the solitude of her home, she already emanates this persona of someone deep in perpetual mourning. It only gets further personified by how she's portrayed in her character design, faceless and body bent facing the ground. A clever detail is not offering any clear reference to an insect that inspired her concept, as she's not native to Hallownest.
7 ♌ The Dreamers
Hollow Knight's Dreamers are a complex group, serving the Pale King in a state of eternal slumber within the Dream Realm to hold their seals intact to safeguard the Vessel believed critical to stopping the Infection. Collectively they are formed by Monomon the Teacher, Lurien the Watcher, and Herrah the Beast.
Each of the Dreamers comes with an original design notable from the rest. Monomon wears a cloak around her neck like a scarf and a mask that makes her seem almost alien and has ghostly jellyfish tentacles. Lurien is shorter and fully cloaked with a one-eyed mask, definitely conveying a Watcher. Herrah, former Queen of the Spider Tribe, wears a mask designed with the ears like her daughter, Hornet, and a pattern like the Midwife's.
6 Nosk
Nosk is not in the least bit a friendly character in Hallownest, as it's indeed one of the bosses you encounter in a Deepnest lair. The bulbous orange embryo sac in place of its belly shows that this giant spider-legged creature has been affected by the Infection. Some of its attacks even include launching large globule projectiles from the orange sac that can inflict damage.
One of the eeriest and most intriguing parts of Nosk's character design is the shape-shifting ability that allows it to mimic the appearance of others. At first, it looks like a direct clone of you but then slowly begins to sprout its spider features and legs and form fully into its body. It also takes on a second form that's winged if it mimics Hornet's character.
5 ♏Mask Maker
The unique masks certain characters wear, including our protagonist, have to come from somewhere, so Team Cherry even thought to add an area tying into this aspect of the lore. There's yet another spider-like creature located in Deep Nest who carves and decorates these masks from the sanctuary of their workshop.
Unfortunately, Mask Maker can't create a custom mask for you but does raise some intriguing questions about their significance to the story. Mask Maker has a plumper round shape for their body from which extend long arms more typical of spiders. The coolest part is that the masks worn by Mask Maker may vary upon each visit, sometimes even leaving their face exposed.
4 🌌 White Lady
In addition to the spells you can unlock in Hollow Knight, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Charms are another useful tool in easing some of the difficulty of the trials you'll be facing within its punishing world. Having been the former Queen of Hallownest and wife to the Pale King, the White Lady has one fragment of the Kingsoul Charm that boosts the amount of Soul generating in your meter.
The White Lady is unlike any of the other characters that are influenced by various kinds of bugs and insects, as she's one of the higher beings whose appearance is a giant network of luminous white roots. The roots are more like a sprawling array of tendrils that flow from top to bottom of her figure, perfectly capturing the aesthetic of a Godlike being.
3 Traitor Lord & Mantis Traitors 🍸
Praying mantises are typically delicate insects loved by all, but Hollow Knight manages to make villains out of them. There's a trio of sisters that comprise the Mantis Lords. But then there are also their evil familial counterparts who've been cast out as traitors for their obsession with becoming more powerful from the Infection.
The main distinction of the Traitor Mantises is the beaming red-colored eyes that highlight the effects of the Infection, and their bodies are a hybrid composition of mantises and stag beetles. 🐓Sharply curved pi🍨ncers are attached to their head, which forms a type of crown, along with gray mantis appendages extending out from their sides.
2 The Hunter ♉
The Hunter is another one of those characters whose form isn't fully revealed upon your initial impression of them. He resides in the radiant mossy-covered zone called the Greenpath, and his top half camouflages with the environment. The vegetative growth on the ground blends with the layer around his tooth-lined face, giving the effect of a carnivorous shrub.
After a few lines of dialogue, you fall through the platform and see Hunter's body in full view. Like the Shaman, his body is a full coat of black, multiple eyes gleaming white, and his limbs and interconnected bones are thinly long and unnatural. And they don't just call him Hunter for nothing. You obtain a journal from him that acts as a bestiary of entries🍬 of all the various enemies you find.
1 🃏 🐽 The Last Stag
Getting around the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:i💝ncredibly🐼 detailed map of Hollow Knight is made more convenient with the transportation services courtesy of the Last Stag. Located near designated stations, the Last Stag acts as your fast-travel system in the game. Back when the kingdom of Hallownest was still prospero⛦us and free of Infection, many others like him existed.
Now, he and his undying dedication to the job are all that remains. The Last Stag's design is an adorable departure from the rest. Strapped to his back is a fancy saddle of cushiony seats like those you'd see on a horse carriage, with enough room for two. You can also tell he's an older soul from the white beard growth on his face.
