It's a week to Christmas, and I'm starting to feel the pressure. After all, gifts are left to buy, decorations must be set, and several work deadlines must be met. Plus, I spent the past week looking for bakeries that sell rugalach and babka for Hannukah with my sister-in-law this year. It's all simultaneously exciting and nerve-wracking.
Thankfully, when I need to take the edge off, I can open a streamer and relive my childhood with some of my favorite holiday TV specials. Personally, I'm a sucker for the stop-motion Rankin and Bass shows of the sixties and seventies. So, I decided to take my imagination to Nostalgia-land and picture what it would be like to game with some of my favorite holiday characters!
10 💙 𝓰 Frosty The Snowman
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
If you've heard the song, you know that Frosty The Snowman is a great time! After all, "the children🐓 say he could laugh and play,
just the same as you and me." So, it's clear that he likes to play games and have fun.
You may ask, "is it possible to necromance a snowman to life an🍬d teach them how to play Fortnite in less than five minutes?" To that, I say, you need to believe in the power of Christmas magic, my friend.
I'm more worried about Frosty getting a violent shock from touching all those electronics. That's a Christmas surprise I could do without.
9 Rudolph And Hermey 🏅 ꦅ
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, and Hermey the Elf Dentist, are the two best friends anyone could ever want. Their duet of absol🧜utely slaps. And if you ever felt like an outcast, these two would accept you with arms wide open.
And why should I have to hide who I am around friends? I should be able to share my random obsession with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Bust A Groove without shame!
Um. Anyway, I'm trying to say that the best game buddies are those who nerd out together. And I definitely could nerd out with my fellow misfits, Rudolph and Hermey!
8 Clarice
Sometimes the best game partners are the most patient. If I'm having a stressful day, I prefer to game with someone who doesn't get phased if they lose or hold a parade when they win. Clarice, Rudolph's love interest in the famous Rankin And Bass television special, is as chill as they come.
Clarice is the perfect friend to play 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PowerWash Simulator with and have a heart-to-heart convers♏ation. Then she could sing and make my cynical millennial heart feel something again.
7 Yukon Cornelius༺ 🐭
Most kids loved the cheerful gold prospector, Yukon Cornelius, from Rudolph The Rednose Reindeer. This jovial adventurer reminds me of the fun uncle who will look the other way so you can steal some sips of champagne. Plus, he's scrappy.
Yukon Cornelius is the perfect partner for any co-op game. But he's also a fierce competitor. Whatever he does, he does with gusto. So you know he'll make any video game a blast!
And wait 'til he plays for the first time. His mind is gonna be blown!
6 Aaron, The Little Drummer Boy ▨ 🍎
I didn't realize how hard-knock The Little Drummer Boy, Aaron, was until I rewatched the Rankin And Bass special almost twenty years later. The narrator even says throughout the show that Aaron despises people. But, of course, I don't blame him. Bandits murdered his parents and left him an orphan. In fact, after drumming for a crowd in Jerusalem, he reads them for filth. Aaron's the embodiment of IDGAF.
However, he is very protective of animals. So I could channel that rage into something positive. For example, I'm sure Aaron would get a kick out of messing with humans in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Untitled Goose Game. Or I could help him make an island village in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Animal Crossing. Okay, so he's more of a single-player gamer, but I'm sure we could take turns with the controller.
5 🍌 The Grinch
The Grinch is a lousy cheat with a penchant for pissing people off. And that's precisely why I want him on my team. Sure, lying and stealing are not ethical in real life. But if the stakes are nothing but bragging rights in a virtual world, what's the harm? (And if you genuinely believe cheating in video games is immoral, let's see what your Sim's mansion would look like without the 'rosebud' code!)
This bad banana's skills could do wonders for my FPS game. For instance, I played the first 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Overwatch a handful of times years ago and stunk at it. But if I had an online pal bugging the game for me, I would have h⭕ad a much better time! Sure, we both would get banned. But hearing The Grinch roast bratty teenagers over the internet would make banishment worthwhile.
(Damn. Am I a terrible person?)
4 🎶 Th꧋e Winter Warlock
I hold a massive fondness for The Winter Warlock from the TV special Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town. He transforms from a hardened ice sorcerer to a white mage of generosity in a single dance number. (Sounds like me when I finally get my morning coffee.) He's such a warm, kind soul. And I just want to hang with him.
Playing games with Winter would bring the same amusement as teaching a quirky grandparent how to play 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mario Party. They may not know what's going on, but they'll be a good sport trying, and I'm sure we'll have plenty of laughs!
And maybe if I beat Winter, he'll let me try some of that magic feed corn, and I could give flying a shot.
3 ℱ Heatmiser And Coldmiser
Who doesn't love these two? Admittedly, The Year Without A Santa Claus is a B-Side compared to the earlier Rankin and Bass specials of yore. But these brothers turned rivals make this TV film a classic! T🌸heir dueling theme songs are ridiculously catchy, and their rapport with each other is hilarious!
Honestly, being a twin myself, I can relate to these two a lot. My brother and I are total opposites (I would say I'm the Coldmiser to his Heatmiser). He gets hot-headed when losing, and I make pointed comments egging him on. And then we devolve into back-and-forth bitching. Yet, somehow the whole ordeal is oddly humorous to everyone else watching.
So, I know watching Heatmiser and Coldmiser bicker over blue shells in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mario Kart would be an absolute riot!
2 Jessica (aka Mಞrs. Claus) 𝔍
Jessica Claus is one of my favorite holiday characters of all time. Why? Of course, this dedicated school teacher symbolizes several feminist values of the time. She was a bright, thoughtful, independent woman that rebelled against Burgermeister's anti-toy law. And all that is part of my admiration for this character. (Okay, the adoration for Kris Kringle flunked the Bechtel test. But you get the sentiment.)
However, what wins me over is her rendition of one of my favorite (and, in my opinion, most overlooked) holiday songs, . This cataclysmic ballad is so iconically 70s - to the point where Jessica finds herself on a colorful psychedelic trip. Plus, Robie Lester's vocals are stunning in this number.
So I must play a karaoke game with Jessica. Whether it's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Rock Band, Let's Sing, or SingStar, my life would feel a little moreᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ complete if I could duet with this soulful pedagogue.
Plus, I need her to help with a few puzzles from The Witness because I'm positively stumped!
1 Santa Claus ⭕ ⭕
It's hard to elaborate on this choice since the obvious reasoning is "DUH!" But I'll try.
Santa Claus is an immortal man who still plays with toys and games. He's likely up to date with all kinds of tech - it is his job, after all - and he and his elves have the hook-up to the latest and greatest consoles. I can state without a doubt that this dude got a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:PS5 before anyone else!
More importantly, he's a good person. Yeah, you could play dirty with The Grinch or egg-on arguments with the Miser brothers. But those paltry amusements get old. The best game partners are excellent sports who know how to have fun. And this holly, jolly fella has both traits in spades.
