Yuoni is a fi♔rst-person survival horror that requires you to play a few games of hide and seek with some ethereal dudes and a creepy doll-looking child. Sounds inviting righ🎶t?

Japanese developer Tricore is behind the game, which takes the childhood games of tag and hide and seek to new dark and twisted lows. Running and hiding without any means of defending yourself is hardly a novel concept in horror games, with big titles in the genre like Amnesia and being just some that come to mind. But seems confident in its potential to deli𝓀ver this well-worn trop😼e in tandem with some more unique aspects to deliver something fresh.

"The game takes place in a mysterious world where the sun is forever on the brink of setting. Doors in a hospital lead t𓃲o a Japanese house, and doors there lead to a clas꧙sroom... Three incongruent places are connected with no hint as to how or why," reads the game's description.

You play as fifth-grader Ai, who has been sucked into this mysterious dimension in the year 1990. She ⭕is now forced to partake in these children's games, which feel creepily incongruous in such a dark and sinister setting. Check out the announcement trailer below.

As you can see, the same breath-holding technique as we've seen in other games like Maid of Sker - released earlier this year - will be included. It seems that other than this, poor Ai doesn't have a whole lot of abilities at her disposal to help her survive these torturous games. The main mechanics here, as you could've predicted, are simply r😼unning and hiding.

According to the devs, there are two different gameplay styles, though. One is centered on searching for items to help you escape this nether-world, while the other is all about actually using those items to do said escap💖ing. "But𓆉 be sure you don't forget the paths you've taken, or you'll never make it out," they warn.

Yuoni will be coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC in Spring 2021. The game will feature both English and Japanese interface and subtitlꦍe options.
