Summary
- Helldivers 2 players have been a little worried about the game staying online after the PSN sign-in controversy from last week.
- Don't worry, though, as Arrowhead's CEO already has ideas about how to keep the game going "forever" if the team has to move on to another project.
- One idea is to have Joel replaced with an AI game master, something that he'd probably appreciate after the longest few months of his life.
The CEO of developer Arrowhead Game Studios, Johan Pile💝stedt, has said⛦ that he wants the game to go on "forever", even when the team eventually stops working on new updates.
It's been an undeniably rough month for Helldivers 2 thanks to PlayStation announcing that players on 𝐆Steam would be required to sign in to PSN in order to pl♑ay, leading to the game being delisted 🎐in several regions. Now that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sony has taken that requirement back, things are starting to look up for Helldivers 2, leaving some room to think about what's coming next in the Galactic War.

Helldivers 2 Is A Ball That PlayStation Can't Afford To Fumble
If Sony wants to pursue a future in 🎶live service games, it can't make mistakes with Helldivers 2.
Even with the PSN sign-in requirement being made optional, that hasn't stopped some players from being worried about Helldivers 2's always-online state, with some expressing worry about it potentially being taken offline in the future. Although the past few weeks have taught us to be wary, Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt has eased those concerns by saying he wants the game to go on "forever".
Helldivers 2 Should Live On Even If Development Stops
, Pilestedt recently took part in a discussion on the game's official Discord page, where he was asked if players in regions where the game has been taken away from sale would lose access to the game if they already owned it. In response, Helldivers 2's CEO said that if they've bought the game, then they'll be able to play "forever".
That's a hopeful message, but one that was met with a bit of scepticism, as another player asked if Pilestedt really meant forever, or if it's just until the servers get shut down. He then said that it'll be playable "forever if I get to choose", which suggests that he's aware it's not completely his decision and could be something decided by PlayStation.
It seems that he's already thought some of the possible scenarios for Helldivers 2's future through, though, as he revealed that if Arrowhead finished development on the game and moved onto something new, then the team would "build automation on the gamemaster and other features", allowing players to keep playing without♈ Joel being in control.
There's clearly been a lot of thought put into what happens to Helldivers 2 when Arrowhead moves on to another project, but it's likely not something that the team has to think about for some time. As one of the most-played and best-selling games of 2024 so far, it seems very unlikely that we'll be seeing the back of Helldivers 2 in the near future.
