Spoilers Ahead
5 Jorge's Death
Halo Reach has many emotional moments and a bevy of killed-off characters. While almost all of💧 them could make this list, two stand out above the rest. In Reach, you play as Noble Six, who is looked upon as the outcast of the group. When the game starts, Six is introduced to a group called Noble Team, as their newest member. This is a team that❀ has previously worked together and trusts one another. Playing as the one Spartan with no previous experience feels like being the new kid at school.
Jorge, however, welcomed Six in immediately, and eventually became like a bigger brother. He was a big fluff ball of kindness, and with him around, you could feel a bit safer. Jorge's sacrifice still leaves us shaken up - we really hoped he would make it out of Reach.
4 🍃 Miranda Keyes Death 🤪
Daughter of Captain Jacob Keyes, Miranda proved herself༺ to be a great leader in her own right, perhaps even surpassing her father. She was able to galvanize her troops in a way few could and did not hesitate to get her hands dirty either. Unfortunately, that is how she passed - while crashing into the Covenant headquarters to save Sargent Johnson in one of the most badass moments in all of Halo.
This death came to a character that simply did not deserve it. Mi🤡randa cons🍸istently made the right choices, and always wanted what was best for her team.
3 Sargent Johnson's Death
Sargent Johnson brought sarcastic humor to a series that's primarily dry and resolved. He became a fan favorite from the beginning of Halo Combat Evolved. Reminiscent of Sargent Hartman from the film Full Metal Jacket, Sargent Johnson plays the brutally sarcastic leader of his corps.
Perhaps the most infuriating death in the series, Sargent Johnson is killed in Halo 3 by Guilty Spark - the insufferable robot ball that every player knew would turn on the heroes eventually. Sure enough, that is exactly what Spark did. While 𓂃Chief held Johnson in his arms, we felt what he was feeling - pain. He just lost a friend that aided him in battle time and time again.
2 Noble Six's Death
Of all the deaths in Halo Reach, Noble Six's hit the hardest. Playing the character made you share a tight bond with him till the end. Six put up a valiant fight but was ultimately outnumbered. Choosing to show this the way Bungie did only added to the he𒀰artbreak. As Noble Six took off his helmet, it acted as the camera, givin⭕g us a view of the whole thing.
As the player, you knew his time had come, but watched in anguish, hoping that maybe he could escape. The one solace w𝔍e could takꦛe from his death was that his mission was successful.
1 Cortana's Death
"We were supposed to take care of each other, and we did", a gut-wrenching line delivered by Cortana just before she dissipated at the end of Halo 4. The line perfectly sums up the relation𝄹ship Master Chief shared with Cortana. She was there to protect and assist Chief thr🍸oughout every main game in the series.
Of all the heartbreaking moments in the series, none were quite like Cortana's death. Chief was a lonely man with one purpose - to complete the mission. Cortana, in most ways, was his one and only companion. Chief, who hardly ever showed emotion, was destroyed at that moment. We could feel it even as he hid behind his helmet.
