168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Supergiant Games has released the first major update for Hades 2, which brings with it a new zone, new characters, new weapons, new dialogue, and plenty of other surprises. Its reveal trailer goes over all the additions, but Supergiant has made a point that plenty of surprises still wait beneath the 😼surface for players to discover.
One of these surprises is the subtle ways in which character relationships are expanded. After each run you unlock new dialogue, with characters appearing in the hub area to further their own arcs or make remarks on the run you either just succeeded or, more likely, failed in. It’s a brilliant means of storytelling, and one of the key reasons why Hades s♈tands out so much in an already crowded genre.
Supergiant Is All About Godlike Romance In Hades 2
Before the latest update rolled around, I had exhausted everything Hades 2 had to offer. My favourite c☂haracters had be🐻gun delivering canned responses, only ever offering anything new to say under very specific circumstances. Now things have changed, and better yet, Hades 2 is beginning to unfurl some of its romantic intentions.
Like Zagreus, Melinoe is bisexual. At least, that’s the impression I’m getting as she flirts with the likes of Nemesis, Icarus, and Moros. Nemesis views Melinoe as a mortal enemy to begin with, violently jealous that the Princess of the Underworld was chosen instead of her to bring the fight to Chronos. Yet she still feels inclined to protect her, s♈howing up in runs to annihilate enemies or offer you rare rewards in exchange for a slap around the face. Nemesis might be hateful on the surface, but only because she doesn’t know how to sa🎉y how she really feels.
Fans will notice that this dynamic ꦆis very similar to what we saw between Zagreus, Thanatos, and Megeara in the original game. They make the nicest throuple.
This bring🐽s🧜 us to Moros, the Lord of Death who talks to Melinoe like a nervous little boy. He is a helpful ally who makes a permanent home in your base camp and is always up for a bit of chatting. Like Nemesis, he is doing everything he can to help Melinoe, but is more forward with how he feels. I’d noted these two characters as potential romantic interests for Melinoe, but never did I expect them to collide so early and so explicitly. After finishing up a run, I bumped into both characters as they were caught red-handed talking about their feelings for Melinoe.
Both of them are bashful at first, telling one another to quiet down because the object of their collective desire has rocked up without a clue. The conversation that follows is adorable, and so honest in how Nemesis and Moros lay out their shared feelings and that the last thing that the🧸y want to happen is to become enemies or hurt Melinoe in the process.
Love Makes The Underworld Go Round
Nemesis talks about how Melinoe shouldn’t have to dedicate herself to a single lover, and in response, she brings up their status as gods and how the mortal constraints of relationships shouldn’t be a factor. It’s accurate to the mythology, and as potentially immortal beings, this idea of ‘Til Death Do Us Part’ isn't a factor they need to consider. Locking yourself away from potential partners꧂ and feelings because you’re afraid of hurting is a conversation that normal people have each and every day, and there’s something quietly extraordinary about a trio of gods having this conversation like a bunch of nervous teen🦩agers.
Melinoe is the one who plants a stick in the ground too, explaining that she is willin💖g to deal with romantic feelings from Nemesis and Moros, but only if they promise not to consider her as the one and only partner they will ever have. At first, I thought this romantic revelation was a bit sudden for Hades 2, but now I see it is likely to build up a new character arc for Moros and Nemesis that puts romance at the forefront. Nemesis and ꧋Moros are also siblings, so it might make things a bit awkward, but the gods are pretty freaky as it is.
Shortly after wrapping things up with Nemesis and Moros, Hecate will comment on how her student is glowing, as if she’s just discovered something about herself she can’t wait to dive into further. Melinoe calmly brushes her off, only for Hecate to proclaim that embracing love is essential to growth, and in a war like this one, you need all the support you can get. It feels more deliberate than the f🦩irst game ever was, not surprising considering we can have baths with our favourite characters and fawn over water droplets dripping down their bodies.
Future updates are likely to delve further into this dynamic until we reach some manner of romantic endgame where maybe Melinoe will be asked to make a choice, or Supergiant is designing its character relationships🤪 - or at least the less than platonic ones - to be entirely polyamorous. I’ll always have my favourites, but myself and many other players are eager for every interaction to play out in a single playthrough, and will forgive any inconsistencies as we piece together each little dialogue scene in our heads. Speaking of which, I hope that Icarus gets involved in this action sooner rather than later.
I’m a hopeless romantic, so this aspect of Hades has always been one of my favourites. My timelines are filled with cutesy art, and I’ve read far too much fanfiction, but that’s because I love these characters so much and want to take them ಌfurther. In Hades 2, Supergiant is on track to do just that.
