There’s something to be said about an open-world game that choℱoses not to overwhelm ღyou with the open world. In his piece, Mike praises the variety of choices you have that don’t feel pressing enough to make the whole experience stressful.
GTA 5 may have seen many narrative and quality-of-life updates through the years, but Mike essentially recommends the game as an escape where you can go on fake roller coasters, not worry about enemy bases, and enjoy dated bits and social commentary. GTA Online largely comprises the same experience and even expands 🙈on it because, as Mike added, it continues to evolve over time.
Time Expenditure
Although you can technically keep playing GTA Online endlessly, there are specific activities and heists that provide a story you can follow. For a good idea of how long it would take to beat these stories, it would take you around four t𓄧o six hours to beat The Co𓆉ntract, which is one of the most popular updates introduced in the game. This doesn’t even count the eight robbery coꦅntracts and ten heists you can do.
On top of those, GTA Online offers CEO activities, casinos, races, sports, and reputation building. It takes around 75 hours to reach rank 50, so it’s easy to see upwards of 200 hours if you’r🌠e trying to get the full experience without paying for Shark Cash Cards. Much like the single-player mode it spawned from, GTA Online is all about money. If you've got lots of it, you can enjoy every aspect of the game. Without it, you're left doing small jobs hoping to earn your way towards the better things in life. GTA Online is a tremendously impressive experience, in theory. The open-world freedom to engage in numerous activities, all while sharing the world with 20+ people, sounds great. But it isn't. Too much of its design is based around having obnoxious amounts of cash, which is only realistically obtainable from purchasing microtransactions. Grinding for that money is proven near impossible as well, between low payouts and high odds of someone else in the lobby using their credit-card-purchased hovering rocket bike to hunt you down during jobs. It's affordable or it's fun, it's not both.
