In some ways, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:GTA 6's first trailer told us a lot - we 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:met protagonist Lucia and learned a little of her story, we discovered it was 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:set in Vice City, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the ♑song choice teaꦆsed a lovers betrayal, likely 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:involving Jason, 𝕴the other playable character whom we see little of here. But in other ways, it told us nothing - Lucia and the setting had been leaked, while most of the trailer's scenes were viral videos recreated in GTA, therefore serving as evidence of the tone and the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:game's technical prowess more than anything of substance. It's still unclear how, if at all, GTA 6 has changed from GTA 5. But if it has, it might owe a lot to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Red Dead Redemption 2.

There have been some complaints that the new GTA 6 trailer is 'woke', but that 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:not only misunders💎tands GTA as♋ a series, but also the demographics of the Miami area the game is based on, so we won't be getting into that.

As I 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:wrote about in the run up🌺 to the trailer, it can be tough to learn much from a Rockstar trailer at first reading. Instead, the pieces tend to fall into place later. GTA 4's first trailer talks about arriving in America to make a fresh start, GTA 5's first trailer stars Michael alone and discusses the drawbacks of the American dream, and Red Dead Redemption 2's trailer talks about a man out of time. We wouldn't learn the true substance of these trailers until we got our hands on the game itself, and the significant focus on viral fame, plus Lucia's criminal past, may be bigger factors than we currently realise.

A trio of characters covered in mud, one with beer, another one shirtless with a cap and sunglasses, and a woman in an American flag bikini throwing up the 'rock out" hand sign and sticking out her tongue to the camera

Regardless of how it all plays out, it feels as if GTA is at a stick or twist point. While they share a lot of similar DNA with their impressive open worlds and capacity for great and creative violence, Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption are very different. While both let you play your way by wandering and discovering new stories organically, the narrative is the foundation of Red Dead Redemption. Playing as either John or Arthur just doesn't work as well when there are no stakes and nothing driving you. It's why nobody likes playing as Jack.

While GTA has some wonderful stories itself, the freedom to commit carnage is a much bigger factor. It's why almost everyone's favourite GTA game is the one they played as a kid just running around doing nothing, or GTA 5 because it looks the newest. And if those games are one and the same for you, I loathe you and your youthful blood. Personally, my favourite is GTA 4 because I think it has the best story and strongest slices of American satire, but I know that having those as the biggest factors puts me in the minority.

However, Red Dead Redemption 2 is Rockstar's magnum opus, and it achieved this pinnacle not through its graphics or its gunshots, but through its heart. Does GTA 6 look to what Red Dead Redemption 2 achieved and build on that in GTA's modern cityscape, or does it look back at GTA 5 and think 'let's do that again, but with a decade of technical improvements behind it'? With the narrative teasing a love story, a more tender and heart-wrenching RDR 2-style tale could be on the cards. But then, with a trailer focused entirely on bombastic virality, maybe GTA 6 really is just GTA 5 but bigger.

Whatever Rockstar does, it has the potential to be an all-time great. A second to none technical prowess and a seven year gap between Rockstar's last game, the game is going to look the part without question. All that remains is what direction it takes from here, and with GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 as your primary inspirations, GTA 6 is building on very strong bedrock.

It also shouldn't be a narrative follow-up

Some players want Trevor, Michael, or Franklin to return in GTA 6, but that's not Rock🀅star's sty꧑le, and nor should it be
