9 Helheim
Kratos originally ventured to the Norse realm of the dead to find a cure for Atreus after he fell ill. He brings his Blades of Chaos along to counter Helheim's deathly frost, making it one of the most memorable experiences in the 2018 God of War. Sadly, Helheim, in this game, doesn't quite reach the same heights.
While Helheim does contain one of the game's best boss fights, it's also very small and has little to do once you've beaten the main story. At the very least, it does make for easy 100 percent completion, but the fact that so much of the game takes place in icy landscapes means you're unlikely to be wowed by the eternal cold of Helheim.
8 Niflheim
Another area that took a bit of a downgrade, Niflheim, the home of primordial beings, was host to the most expansive post-game content in the previous game. Exploring its misty mazes could provide you with hours upon hours of content. Now, Niflheim hosts little more than a training area and a section to grab rewards as you kill Odin's ravens.
While Niflheim does open up slightly after you've beaten the game, there's still not much to do here. It gets bonus points, though, for its cool aesthetic and having one of the greatest secrets you'll only be able to find after you've finished the game.
7 Muspelheim ꦛ
Muspelheim was an entirely optional area in the 2018 game, hosting a variety of combat challenges set up by the fire giant Surtr. Kratos and Atreus will be venturing through the fiery depths of Muspelheim in the story, but it also contains additional challenges for those who wish to♈ test their mettle.
Muspelheim's fire and brimstone aesthetic can feel a little one-note, but it more than makes up for this with its variety of combat challenges. These place conditions on you that will test your reflexes and creativity, from defeating hordes of enemies to only being able to kill enemies by knocking them off of ledges.
6 Jotunheim
Kratos and Atreus briefly visited the home of the Giants at the conclusion of the last game. Ragnarök ups the ante by turning Jotunheim into a fully explorable area, one you'll be returning to a couple of times throughout the story.
Jotunheim doesn't have much in terms of optional content, but its story significance and cozy forest aesthetic make it a fun area to visit regardless. Not to mention, it's just great to be able to poke around in an area that held such significance in the last game, and learn a little bit more about the Giants in the process.
5 Midgard
As the home of both Kratos and Atreus, you'll be intimately familiar with Midgard if you played the last game. Fimbulwinter has transformed it into a snowy landscape with frozen-over lakes, turning the main form of traversal from a rowboat to a dog sled.
This alone changes the landscape of Midgard entirely and makes it feel fresh and fun to explore with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:plenty of secrets, even if you'll be coming across many of the same landmarks and locations as the last game. You won't be spending quite as much time here this go around, but it still has plenty to offer and discover.
4 Alfheim
The home of the Elves, Alfheim is still locked in the same war between the Light and Dark Elves that it was in the previous game. Kratos and Atreus will find themselves fighting against both factions as they traverse through the realm. Not only that, but it has an expansive desert they c🐠an explore via dog sled.
This expansion in explorable areas 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:and enemy variety is already great, but Alfheim also has new and exciting mechanics to offer as well. Kratos can reflect his ax off of glowing crystals to empower it, which is useful in both exploration and combat. More than that, though, it's just an incredibly satisfying mechanic to use.
3 ꦿ Svartalfheim
Svartalfheim is the home of the Dwarves and the first new realm you'll explore in Ragnarök. Fimbulwinter has caused it to take on an appearance similar to a swamp, and its warm, humid atmosphere provides a nice contrast to the icy winter of Midgard.
Svartalfheim is a more comedic area, befitting the Dwarves that occupy it, but don't be fooled; it also has some of the best, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:most poignant side-quests in the game. Undoing Mimir's mistakes provide a great distraction from the main plot and sailing around in a boat while he regales you will likely remind you of your previous adventure.
2 Asgard
Home of the Aesir Gods, Asgard will be taking up a large part of your journey in God of War Ragnarok. You finally get to see the home of Odin, Thor, and other gods in all its glory, and while it may look a little different from what you expected, it's nonetheless an incredible-looking area.
Rocky outcroppings surround the grand wall of Asgard that prevent outsiders from entering. Once you finally get inside, you'll find it houses a village that contains a variety of gods and Einherjar, the revived warriors of Valhalla. While exploration in Asgard is minimal, it's an incredible area to visit all the same.
1 Vanaheim
While Asgard houses the Aesir Gods, Vanaheim is home to the Vanir Gods, such as Freya. Its large forest and wide variety of enemies will occupy much of your time in Ragnarok's main story, to the point that you're unlikely to expect it when you find it also contains 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a huge optional area.
The Crater within Vanaheim, which you'll likely stumble upon as part of a side quest, has some of the best optional content in the entire game. From boss fights with massive dragons to its many side quests, it's one of the most satisfying areas to explore, and it easily pushed Vanaheim over the edge to the best realm in the game.
