As veterans and newcomers alike eagerly anticipate engaging with this aquatic behemoth, our guide is poised to navigate you through the intricate details of locating and defeating ꦅthis watery addition to Genshin Impact's diverse roster of bosses.

How To Find The Hydro Tulpa

The Hydro Tulpa is situated in an underwater cavern in Chemin de L'Espoir, and you can begin by teleporting to either of the two underwater waypoints in the Chemin de L'Espoir area. Once there, direct your path toward the sizable underwater cave entrance towards the west, a gateway to the lair of the Hydro Tulpa.

If locating the entrance proves challenging, refer to your map and head towards the letter "Ch" of Chemin de L'Espoir. It'll be right above it.

Keep swimming forward until you pass through the barrier, and you’ll find yourself within a vast underwater cavern. On your left, you'll also see a teleport waypoint, which you should unlock for easier access going forward.

To begin the Hydro Tulpa boss fight, simply approach the rippling water circle at the center of the cavern.

For those who haven’t yet unlocked the underwater waypoints, the quickest route is by teleporting to the waypoint on the northeast corner of Elynas. Walk north until you reach the water, and from there, dive in and jus🍒t keep swimming forwarꦬd until you reach Chemin de L'Espoir.

Attack Patterns And Mechanics

Like any other World Boss in Genshin Impact, victory against the Hydro Tulpa hinges on understanding and navigating through its versatile array of attacks that range from long-range assaults to close-quarter combat.

For its long-range arsenal, the Hydro Tulpa hurls fast-moving Hydro spears and rains down highly damaging lances from above. In close combat, the Hydro Tulpa switches gears, engaging with powerful AoE melee strikes using a combination of its first, a sword, and a hammer.

Most of these attacks come in swift, multi-strike combos, requiring you to maintain a balance between attacking and evading, but perhaps the Hydro Tulpa’s most damaging attack is the Lance Barrage, which will be telegraphed by pillar🌼s of water ascending around the Hydro Tulpa.

Without a shielder, your safest strategy is to create distance from the boss, as the AoE of the largest and most damaging lances will be concentrate🍒d close to the Hydro Tulpa.

Another distinctive aspect of the Hydro Tulpa is its ability to summon small Hydro monsters called Half-Tulpas, which add a layer of difficulty to the battle. Not ⛦only do they attack the player, but the Hydro Tulpa can also absorb them to enter an enhanced state.

This absorption process increases the damage of the Hydro Tulpa’s attacks, while also making it more aggressive and take less damage. This makes it important to quickly eliminate the smaller Tulpas as they spawn.

The Hydro Tulpa’s attacks are as follows:

Move

Description

Fist Strike

The Hydro Tulpa engages in close combat with a powerful fist strike, causing wide area Hydro damage.

Hydro Spear

Summons and hurls water-formed spears at the player from a distance.

Hammer Combo

Swings a massive, water-formed hammer in a triple strike sequence, covering wide arcs.

Lance Barrage

Conjures and strikes down three large lances near itself to deal substantial Hydro damage, accompanied by smaller lances across the arena.

Half-Tulpa Absorption

Absorbs Half-Tulpas to enhance its power, increasing its damage and resistance.

Tips And Strategies

The Hydro Tulpa is similar to the Rhodeia of Loch Oceanid or a Hydro slime in that it’s completely immune to all Hydro damage. However, this does create a weakness that you can take advantage of, and it’ll permanently be afflicted with a Hydro status (wet), making it very easy to trigger eꦏleme꧑ntal reactions against it.

Use the Hydro Tulpa's permanent wet status to amplify the effectiveness of characters like Alhaitham and Hu Tao.

Whenever the boss summons its Half-Tulpas, make it a priority to take them out quickly. They will automatically be defeated the moment you get rid of their Hydro shields, which you can accomplish easily with elemental reactions like Hyperbloom, Superconduct, and Vaporize.

Finally, the Hydro Tulpa has multiple attacks that deal wide AoE damage. Although most of these attacks are easily telegraphed, it’s still recommended to bring a shielder for the smoothest experience.

If bringing a shielder isn’t an option, consider utilizing items like the Desiccant Potion. This potion boosts all party members’ resistance to Hydro damage by 25 percent and can be crafted for cheap at any Crafting Table using one Butterfly Wing, one L🥀otus Head, and 100 Mora.

Lotus Heads are found in pools of water all over Liyue. They are most common near Luhua Pool, Huaguang Stone Forest, and Stone Gate.
